To any readers, what would you think if, in the future generations of Pokémon, very few new Pokémon were added in each new Generation, yet there would be so many older Pokémon available, as well as highly-detailed scenery and new gameplay features, that it would not matter that only a small number of newly-introduced Pokémon would be available? I have a feeling that the current generation is the start of what could become this trend.

I don't believe this will be a trend, I think it was just such a large movement from 2d to 3d that they had to put features over new pokemon.  Gen 5 was all new pokemon.  Plus there was a pretty big time press with adding all these new features, switching to 3d, and having it ready for the world to play by Oct. 12.

I suppose that you are right. Perhaps the next generation will come much sooner than the others usually do as something of an expansion for the current generation, and will contain a large number of new Pokémon, while the gameplay and graphics will be largely unchanged.

They had to make 3D models of all 649 past gen Pokemon and the new Pokemon. That's a lot of work, including the new features.

Well, unless the games were supposed to be released in time for Christmas, what was stopping the creators from spending more time on the new generation?

There is no guarantee that this would be a trend

They can do like Black and White 1 again and make a lot of new ones that you can only play as then open the national pokedexy and give access to the others after beating the Elite Four and the champion

They already had this done by the time Black 2 and White 2 came out. Pokedex 3D app on 3DS (released simultaneously with B2 and W2) or the Pokedex app on iOS (released around the same time) also has all of the 3D models. Remember the 3DS came out about 2 weeks after Black and White (in the US at least), so they had almost a year and a half before B2 and W2 came out and they had probably already begun to make all the 3D models for the pokemon once the 3DS was announced. So it probably took a long time, but surely they were already working on it.

It depends on how good the improvements are.

One point doesn't make a line, one game doesn't set a trend.  Gen V had more pokemon introduced than any other, even Gen I.

Now I know that you love dumbing me down.

Personally, I think that blocking any access to a non-Generation V Pokémon until after finishing the game ruined it. I hope that it does not happen again.

For me it didn't

Like Gen 1 they wanted you to experience and bond with those Pokemon and in the story, the Unova region is isolated from the others and none of the old Pokemon migrated to Unova until you defeat N and Ghetsis.

And also,BW2 had all of the previous gen Pokemon from the beginning..

Also,no one is dumping you down

We're saying that just because it happened once doesn't mean it'll be a trend

Gen 4 didn't have a lot of new Pokemon introduced in it compared to evos from previous gens....Gen 5 didn't follow it and instead introduced 100+ new Pokemon

That was different. In Generation I, only one-hundred-and-fifty-one Pokémon existed at the time, so they were obviously the only Pokémon that were available to choose from. By the time of Generation V, though, there were obviously a lot more in existence other than the only Pokémon that were available prior to defeating the Elite Four. That is why I was disappointed at the loss of choice and opportunity, and I am sure that there are others with a similar opinion to me.

I know that the sequels included Pokémon from previous generations throughout the game. That has nothing to do with it.

Do not speak for others. I know what I am talking about.

You speak as if you're speaking for everyone

Yeah some people were dissapointed with the lack of previous gens Pokemon but some people were fine with it

Also,I spoke for myself not for others so don't throw random assumptions

You would not have said that if I had not said that I knew that he was dumbing me down first.

I am being perfectly calm. You are the one who started being rude to me; by demanding to see my drawing of what I thought a Mega-Evolution should have looked like.

Well, you are the one saying that I am being rude to you, when you are the one who started it.

I didn't say in this thread that you were rude to me

Where did I imply that I was not calm?

Where did I imply that I was not calm?

When you constantly accusing me of speaking for everyone thinking that I'm leading some sort of rebellion against you

When you constantly accusing me of speaking for everyone thinking that I'm leading some sort of rebellion against you

It all depends on interpretation. If you imagined me saying that in an angry tone, then that is the only reason for why you think that I am not being calm. If I was writing with capital letters, exclamation marks and curses, then I would obviously not be calm, but that is not what I did.

I think the next game will be better now that they have the customization and 3D modeling down and if it doesn't have more new Pokémon well then give me the old regions and I'll be just fine
