The wooden sword is the weapon that set up his and Riku's fighting style. It helped. It wasn't just a play toy.

Also it could be possible for Sora to fight a Xehanort by himself like he did with Xemnas the 1st time.

Kairi being seen as solely a plot device sickens me. She is not a plot device. Might as well call Minnie a plot device, or hell. Let's call Namine a plot device. Yes she's only thrown herself in front of Sora, repaired his memories. Xion's just a plot device. She died to bring Sora back, to save Roxas. Did her best to get Riku to stop Roxas from doing something stupid.

 

Kairi just brought Sora to life again, her name r.was the catalyst to repair, her letter a gateway, she jumped off a balcony and charged heartless with more combat training then a beginner in boot camp.

 

You can learn stuff from just watching fights. She needs training. But after what. Ten years of watching Sora and Riku fight, she has to have picked something up.

Because I got a foam nerf sword at home and I dick around with my brothers and fight and spar and stuff, but it doesn't teach me squat...

 

Now, asking a sword master and asking for tips on the other hand... I learned more in five minutes than all those hours of mindless fun. And that was what the sword was. Fun between Sora and Riku for Kairi's attention. I highly doubt they were 'training' for serious swordfighting unless they really wanted to kill each other sometime in the future...

Kairi IS a pure heart of light. That's her 'skills.' That's her major asset in the universe. It's what makes her... well... HER. The same way the rifle defines a soldier, blueprints define an architect, and how the caduceus defines a doctor for example...

 

And here's another viewpoint: With training, Kairi can become proficient in the shield or staff. can any amount of training make goofy or donald a PoH? Negative. You'd have to be born with a pure heart of light. No amount of training can accomplish that.

 

Another thing: I'd say yes, you should be proud of the fact that memories of Kairi were the only thing holding back Sora from waking up. To become so important to Sora to the point he cannot function without her is more than enough to prove how important she is to KH, and Sora. You don't have to be kicking a55 right alongside your buddies to be 'relevant.' You can be the REASON why they fight, and that's just as important....

in my previous threads i may have been a little bashfull and enthusiastic but it was still my opinion so please hear me out this thead is not a hate post on kairi it's mearly a gathering of all my thought's on the subject and stop acting so childish it's beginning to irritate me if you think i hate kairi i don't i actually hold her in high regard im just not confident in her as a worrior opposing xehanort & xemnas. its actually quite confusing to mistake horsing around and insulting someone (which i didnt do) i was mearly kidding if you took this the wrong way im tarribly sorry but don't just jump to assumptions.

I think Kairi being front and centre is a good idea. I think she's get the potential for more depth and growth, but really just hasn't had the level of screen time necessary to develop. If getting in on the action is the best way to keep her in the spotlight, then I guess it'll have to do. Also, if she has a hard time of it, well, I think that's even better. Conflict builds character, and if she's dropping the ball here and there on her first run out, then we can see how her relation to Riku and Sora grows. She definitely wants to help out, but I think a great deal of that stems from wanting to stand on her own. Also, maybe she'll discover ways to help that aren't necessarily fighting related. Personally, it bothers me how people view character's being "useful" in terms of fighting prowess, and I think Kairi can bring things to the table that aren't necessarily limited to physical power.

1) That was the power of the Pure Heart of Light. The reason why I call it (and not her) a plot device is because she didn't even know how to use it, doesn't know what it is, and doesn't even know it existed at that time. 

2)That was the PHoL she possessed

3) Ok she can pick stuff up. She isn't useless. But I don't see her battling Xehanort.

4) I know she's important in that regard as well.

 

And unlike Kairi with her PHoL, Goofy knows how to use his shield. She'll most likely would have stumbled or hurt herself if she tried to block it.

Being a PoH isn't a skill. She was born like that. She didn't need to learn or improve in using it correctly. A soldier needs to know how to handle a rifle, an architect need to know how to read a blueprint, and a doctor needs to go to a college or university to get a caduceus. These were all gained through hard work, unlike Kairi and her PHoL.

 

Exactly. Being a PoH means you don't have to be good at anything to be a PoH unlike a good magician or defender. That's why it's a plot device. If everyone had a PHoL for a week they'll all use it with the same proficiency, unlike using magic or a shield where people will be bad or good with it. The PHoL are there just to move the plot forward. Nothing much more.

 

Ok. But he already had the memories of others. If he didn't have memories of Riku, Donald, and Goofy then they'll be just as important to him as Kairi.

Heck if a baby had a PHoL and was crawling to Sora to save him and reached him, he would have been saved.
