The One Thing I Always Wondered in KH1

Posted

In the vanilla KH1 why didn't they have the cutscene skip for the cutscenes? Was it because of hardware limitations? Or perhaps it's because they didn't have enough time to put that feature in? Or maybe they forgot to add in a skip option? I'm curious about this because we didn't have the cutscene skip option in vanilla KH1, but in the original PS2 Final Mix version they added it in there but it was only with boss fights.

It's just because it's an early PS2 game before the days of skippable cutscenes.

But PS1 games had the option to skip cutscenes.  Plus Final Fantasy X came out before KH1 and it let you skip cutscenes and that was an early PS2 game.

Haha best thing I've heard all day.

I'm just thinking they forgot to add the skip cutscene option, or the thought didn't even cross their mind.

I think they just forgot, it didn't cross their minds or they didn't think it was necessary.

Probably they wanted you to ACTUALLY watch the story. With your own eyes staring at the glowing tv.(glow, glow)

  (stare, stare)

They just wanted to taunt us with having to watch the scenes over and over again.

Vanilla? I'm guessing Square didn't think of the feature at the time.

I think they realised how confusing the story might be to people, so forcing them to watch cutscenes could help with that.

They spent years making those cutscenes, they wanted to show off

They probably forgot to put a cutscene skip option . Some people did not like that though .....

I know a lot of people who hated that about it :P but honestly I never even noticed :D I don't skip the cut-scenes anyway :)

I dunno, but actually it's so much more fun without it. I still memorize some of the conversations because of that.

...well, it WAS kinda annoying though.

To mess with us.

To really motivate you to try and beat those boss fights. o_o

Really? Then why is the option not in the International and Remaster versions? Unless you're just talking about the Pre-rendered cutscenes, which KH only had at the very beginning and very end in the first place.

I've honestly never heard the term vanilla used for any game, disregarding the first expansion of World of Warcraft. But I digress, I see a lot of confusion.

And that backfired on them greatly

I bet there's quite a few people who bought the game back then and said "never again"

This was quite annoying with all the times during my PS2 playthrough I had to redo boss battles, but I am pretty sure they had added it in KH2. I remember how nice it was because it took me several tries to beat a Hallow Bastian boss, I can't remember the name. Axel?

One thing I am not understanding here, what is the term 'Vanilla' referring to?

They added the option to skip ones you've seen in the original version of Kingdom Hearts Final Mix.
