So, I have a question that has been bothering me for some time. We all know that Ventus' hearts resides in Sora, asleep. I read somewhere that Nomura said that was the only reason that Sora could wield a Keyblade. Nomura also hinted that Ventus might return. So my question is, if Ventus does come back, does that mean that Sora will lose his ability to wield the Keyblade?

Probably. They'll probably make a big deal about it, too.

Actually, no, I take that back. According to lore, Sora's heart is connected to Ventus' due to the unnatural circumstances of his birth. Perhaps he was literally born with the ability, come to think of it.

Who was. Sora, or Ventus?

Ventus will return in Kingdom Hearts III.

Sora, of course. He was born during the time Ventus was dying after MX ripped the darkness from his heart. Because Sora was born at the time Ventus was near-death, their hearts encountered and Sora basically put Ventus' heart on life-support, forming a connection between them. This leads me to believe that because Sora was born with an already established connection to a Keyblade wielder, that he'd be able to wield one regardless. The fact that Ventus' heart eventually rests inside Sora during the end of BBS merely gave him the ability to wield a second one.

Ventus gives Sora the ability to Dual-Wield, in his drive forms. Sora was always destined to obtain the Keyblade because of his own heart.

But would you consider drive forms canon. They were never addressed outside of in game play.*on topic*Could the fact that he has a pure heart have something to do with it?

Actually Nomura said the opposite of that - that the only thing Ven gives Sora is a second keyblade so he can dual wield . Nomura also said Sora was always destined to wield.

Sora wields his own keyblade and dual wields with Ven's . In the end of KH1 and all through CoM Sora did NOT have Ven's heart in him yet still wielded the keyblade. Ven's heart stayed with Roxas when he was born and stayed there up until  Roxas merged back with Sora in KH2.

Ventus will be back .

Oh, thanks. That makes scents.

Oh duh! :) I'm dumb sometimes.

Actually, yes, Drive forms are canon. Sora receives drives in a cutscene, and in KH2FM, Limit Drive also has a cutscene.Yes, that is the reason Sora is able to wield a keyblade on his own.

Drive forms are canon bc the reason Sora could use drive forms was because the faeries gave Sora magic clothes that deliberately tapped into his hidden potential. Since Ven's keyblade was a 'hidden potential " the drive forms allowed him to dual wield with Ven's keyblade.

Sora did have SOME darkness - thats why he had a shadow heartless. Then Kairi purified him and gave him human form again when she hugged him.

Oh ok. I haven't actually played KH2 yet. Only seen the cut scenes, and that was some time ago.

You should play it if you can . It's one of my favorites besides BBS

I almost got it for Christmas this year, but it never happened. :( I want to play it so bad.

No. Nomura said Ven's heart is the only reason Sora can dual-wield. When Ven comes back, Sora will no longer be able to dual wield, but will still have his own Keyblade.

A little off topic, but I believe Ven's heart leaving Sora's body will also have the side-effect of somehow recreating Roxas,

No he didn't. He returned to Sora when you saw Roxas at Sora's pod and he said 'looks like my summer vacation is over"

He merged with Sora in the beginning but still retained a semblance of individuality from within Sora until the end. This partial merge was enough to allow Sora to access Ven's Keyblade

nope : D Glad we cleared that up though.

It's true that Ventus is into Sora's heart . But he's not the reason that he can wield the keyblade . In DDD we found out that the keyblade Sora had was originally Riku's and was handed to Sora for some time because Riku couldn't resist to the darkness . It seems though it "stayed" with him for this long time until now.

Ventus gives Sora the ability to Dual-Wield, in his drive forms. Sora was always destined to obtain the Keyblade because of his own heart.

Sora was never destined to wield the keyblade, the only reason he could was because he had a keyblader's heart within him, and riku's keyblade went to the one most able to use it after riku succumbed to darkness, its all a coincidence. Nomura has gone on record to say that sora represents the average joe, that anyone could be sora because he isnt special....but that was like 6 games ago worth of interviews, so maybe that idea has changed. And sora says it himself in 3d, that he wasn't chosen by the keyblade, but glad to be a part of those who were.

He wasn't chosen as in given the ceremony and trained to wield - but he was chosen in the end by the KK and it chose to stay with him and become his permanantly. Nomura did state that it was Sora's destiny to wield and that Ven only gives him a second keyblade. He did not inherit anything else from anyone including Ven thus it was his destiny. Yes he likes to point out Sora is the average joe- but thats what makes what Sora is more awesome - that even the average person with a strong enough heart can achieve greatness.Remember from the end of KH1 all through CoM till KH2 when Sora and Roxas reunited ?  When Ven's heart was in Roxas? Sora still wielded without Ven's heart inside him .

He could touch a keyblade wielder and then wield a keyblade. Just like Kairi and Riku! YAY! :D

it chose him at hollow bastion because of his heart, but it originally went to him because of ven's heart was inside him. destiny occurs with or without the actions of the individual going with or against the events that are predetermined. Heck, even xehanort didn't see the existence of sora coming into play. Sora was never destined to wield it, but through effort he was able to. I would like to see the interview where sora is stated that he was specifically destined for it since birth though, but either way this debate isPointless since noumea is writing this stuff as he goes along.
