February 10, 201411 yr Author "Look Mommy! The lions are playing with the giraffes!"And then Timmy was scarred for life- what kind of zoo is this?! I remember the zoo my family goes to often had something like this happen, only it was a fight between lions, and that one wasn't caused by the workers (One of the male lions just randomly killed a female lion. It was really sad, and completely out of nowhere). And yeah, I don't know what kind of zoo would actually do this. Sounded like some really dumb excuses to not let other zoos take the giraffe in, too.
February 10, 201411 yr They could've at least gave it battle armor and weapons or something to make it a fair fight
February 10, 201411 yr Author They could've at least gave it battle armor and weapons or something to make it a fair fight They killed it before feeding it to the lions, they just cut it up and fed it in public... Still pretty sick, though.

February 10, 201411 yr I understand his logic, of wanting to keep a diverse gene pool, since he probably only cares about "managing" the EU populations and keeping them healthy. Though numbers can help too if calamity strike, and he should have realized that. Though there is a chance he just wanted to see big cats eat giraffe.

February 10, 201411 yr Fool. I don't see a problem. What about all the other animals killed to feed the lions? No one is protesting that. Maybe we should kill all lions so we don't need to kill to feed them.
February 10, 201411 yr This is why I hate zoos. Anything with the word "zoo" pisses me off. Hate negative situations specifically dealing with innocent animals and humans.
February 10, 201411 yr I'm not entirely opposed until we get to the part where the people who own the zoo received death threats, and adoption offers up to 682,000 euros to stop. At that point, you've got to ask yourself, 'Is this really worth it?'
February 10, 201411 yr I actually cannot believe this? This is sick. If they didn't want the giraffe, there was literally another zoo offering to take it and they didn't accept?? What?? They just wanted an excuse to kill an animal and that's firetrucked up. This zoo has done this before, too. I hope they get shut down or something, because killing an animal with no reason is just screwed up.
February 10, 201411 yr I don't think it's a big deal they fed the giraffe to a lion, but the fact that it's public is a bit gruesome

February 11, 201411 yr I don't see the problem, but that's probably because I had to do something similar
February 11, 201411 yr Author This is why I hate zoos. Anything with the word "zoo" pisses me off. Hate negative situations specifically dealing with innocent animals and humans. Not all zoos are bad, just some are like these... These are the only ones that get attention. How atrocious! It's not like Lions kill giraffes in the wild! Except, you know, zoos are supposed to protect animals. I think you're missing the point here.
February 11, 201411 yr Except, you know, zoos are supposed to protect animals. I think you're missing the point here. No, I'm not. A zoo is supposed to protect animals. Letting a Giraffe with poor genes that will only create generations of inbred, sickly giraffes live is not protecting the animals. It's better that one giraffe die than the rest of the giraffes in the zoo. Forcing the giraffe into isolation or neutering it so it couldn't reproduce would only make the giraffe extremely depressed where it would only wind up dying at an early age from the stress.
