why do people think coded dosen't add anything

Posted

i don't know why but this really bugs me, i mean this game did SPOILER ALERT tell sora and mickey about xion, aqua, ventus, and terra and made him write the letter in the bottle and sent it to sora at the end of the game and at KH2 in which the wouldn't be a "test" for being a keyblade master and then DDD wouldn't happen. and maleficent wanting the data world which will be in KH3 and was hinted at in DDD so if you didn't play recoded you won't know. also this happen before KH2's secret ending, like to be exact during the credits and i just love how they can have a game happen while the credits are going :P

It does add something to the story, but pretty much ONLY the ending. Which I find a bit ridiculous to need a whole game when only the ending is necessary.

Yeah, but why did that need a WHOLE game? Like, BBS was worth a whole game. 358/2 Days ARGUABLY was worth a whole game, depending on how much of a role Xion plays in KH 3. KH 3D was pretty similar in the sense that the ending was the most important thing in the game, but even then Riku's mark of mastery will more than likely be more important in KH 3. I mean, maybe KH 3 will prove me wrong but from what I've seen, Re: Coded's important plot points could've been crammed into scenes in KH 3D and still given us the info we need.

it was to make clear that she really wants the data worlds for a purpose and depending on what that movies dose i think i know why. and that isn't the whole game it has 4parts.  1. to have some of characters remember namine and i guess some of com.  2. maleficent wanting the data worlds.  3. tell sora and mickey about xion, aqua, ventus, and terra. 4. make DDD happen

They are all clearly wrong, Coded adds just as much confusion to the series as any of the other games and it deserves to be recognized.

It's a poor way of explaining Kingdom Hearts II's epilogue. We've revisited these worlds a hundred times.

same goes with days and com. if this game came out before days you would be saying that or at lest you would be saying that about both games.

The original version came out around the same time as 358/2 Days. And I don't see the comparison. 358/2 Days told the story of Roxas & Organization XIII. Re:coded just explained the epilogue from Kingdom Hearts II which could have easily been explained in Kingdom Hearts 3D.

1. Could've been a scene in KH 3D

2. Could've been a scene in KH 3D

4. 3D would still happen, it would all have just been explained in 3D

I'm actually one of the few people who like Re:coded way more then Days.  Sure Days showed more about the Organization and gave the reason of why Roxas left the Organization and introduced Xion who so far only served as Roxas's reason for leaving the Organization and they had to make it so everyone who knew about her would forget about her since they made this after Kingdom Hearts 2 and it would be weird to have a character in a game before that game but no one mentioning her.  Re:coded or Coded to me seemed like a playable epilogue to Kingdom Hearts 2 and did answer a question everyone had at the end of Kingdom Hearts 2 and that was what did the letter say that they got and also answered some other questions as well and let's not forget that Sora although it was his data version finally got to keep his promise and thank Namine again although it was her data version it should still count and it also told Mickey about all the people who have ties to Sora and who are hurting and that he as to tell Sora about them.  Now did they really need a game for that probably not but did they also need to make Days probably not as well but hey I'm glad they made both since it adds to the story of this series and I like it

Sure there were some important plot points, but nothing that couldn't be expressed in a 5-minute cutscene, if that. As an outright game, Re:coded was very much unnecessary, and to be completely honest, a rather cheap production. This was now the 3rd time we revisited the worlds of KH1, repeating the same story of each world again. Also, those cutscenes with the still images were shit and imply a cheaper and shorter production cycle.

i said before, not around the same time you go though all the same worlds from kh2 in days too

my question to you all: would you like it if time travel was in a 5 min cutscene and would you understand it completely because it was. so your answer...

Comparing the complexity of time travel in reference to the story it exists in is soooooooo far off from having Mickey tell Sora "Maleficent wants to rule the data world to control the heartless, but we seemingly stopped her." Okay moving on. "We found out by studying Jiminy's Journal that there are people who you are connected to that need saving." Sora: "You got it! Where do I start?" Okay moving on. Besides time travel wasn't even brought up until the end of 3D anyway. So 5 minutes is about all we had to be explained the time travel anyway hahahaha

I think 3D its important in all aspects, it explained stuff at different parts of the game

I would say more  than Re: Coded but a vast majority of the explanations came at the end of the game. The rest of the game was devoted to dealing with the different Disney Worlds, considering Riku and Sora were focusing on the mark of mastery exam.

they could have had more time, they made the game they could have put little details though out the game. i'm not saying that they couldn't tell sora about xion and the others, i have had ideas where that could have been done, but thats no the big elephant in the room here and you didn't answer the question at all.

I did answer the question. I just didn't answer it the way YOU wanted me to answer it. I told you the specifics of time travel is something that needs far more explanation than Maleficent wanting to rule the data world and that Sora needs to save Terra, Aqua, and Ven. So therefore your question does nothing to the argument because it's different.

People seem to forget that Re:Coded is an extended version of Coded. I believe Coded was really short, and Re:Coded was focused more around extending the gameplay.. (Not sure)

ahhh...well you kind of just did, well anyway assuming that you didn't get time travel the first time around and it needed points of explaining for you, that would be the same with Maleficent wanting to rule the data world. by having a cutscene that says this "Maleficent wants to rule the data world to control the heartless, but we seemingly stopped her." you would have the question of: what the heck is a data world, where did it come from, how is it is side Jiminy's Journal, why is there another sora in the computer, how dose Maleficent know about this, etc. if it was a movie like whats going on in 2.5, then yeah i agree with you there, but in a 1 or 2 cut scenes in DDD no

People seem to forget that Re:Coded is an extended version of Coded. I believe Coded was really short, and only had the main plot points, and I think Traverse Town and Destiny Islands were the only two worlds in that one. (Not sure)

no, it had all of them, but a lot of stuff is different like gameplay:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingdom_Hearts_coded

Yeah, I caught my mistake quickly. It was still shorter, had less scenes, was quicker to complete, and felt more like a mini-adventure than a full game, and a different gameplay style. The point of Re:Coded was to extend the gameplay and add a secret ending.

Re:coded is a remake of coded. The only new cutscene was the secret movie.

Personally, Coded doesn't do anything vastly wrong, just a bunch of little things wrong that add up by the end of the game. While Birth by Sleep and 358/2 Days resolved unanswered issues like why Roxas left the Organization & the origins of Xehanort, Coded did not answer any perplexing questions. But it revealed what was in the letter didn't it? I don't think too many people were concerned about that. The end of KH1 also had a letter, but that didn't lead to anything, so I think most of just assumed it was the same situation. The fact that they learned that people needed saving was important, but it didn't a game about it, especially since Mickey and Yen Sid knew about most of them anyway.Coded answered why the Journal remained blank, even after Sora's memories were restored. This was yet another thing that I don't think too many people were losing sleep over. I just assumed the Organization erased it at some point, and honestly, the  actual answer is a bit stupid and just plain silly. If it wasn't for Coded, then we wouldn't know about Maleficent's plans to take over the Data worlds! Yeah... no offense to Data Sora, but the Datascape was not needed for the series as a whole. For some reason, I don't seem to care about Data Alice nearly as much as I care about the real Alice. I know we learn that even data can have a heart, but if Maleficent getting the Datascape is such a problem, then just delete the darn thing.Yen Sid knew that Master Xehanort was going to come back, that's why he put Sora & Riku through the Mark of Mastery, not because of something from Coded. They would also have to have gone to the Realm of Sleep eventually, regardless of Coded. They combined the MoM and RoS mission maybe because of Coded, but still not necessary.Coded is a fine, solid game, but it's just not really important and does more potential harm than good.

I personally really enjoyed Re:Coded for what it was, it's my favorite KH game on the DS. The storyline wasn't as huge as BbS/KH/KH2, but it did have one *anyone that tells you otherwise wasn't paying attention*
