Earlier today, we reported on some comments made by IGN's Jose Otero and Peer Schneider regarding Nintendo showing off new hardware at this year's E3.

Schneider, who is the co-founder of IGN and has been working in the industry for quite some time, even stated:

They're absolutely going to show new hardware this year. No doubt in my mind that something... 'Cause I've heard from multiple people now. I've heard from someone who used to be at Nintendo; I've heard it from somebody on the third-party front.

Otero has since gone on record to say the comments were taken out of context, but it all seems moot now as we've just had official word from Nintendo UK regarding this rumour, and can confirm that it is totally false.

To quote the Nintendo UK spokesperson who contacted us:

I can confirm Nintendo is not revealing any hardware at this year's E3.

So there you have it, straight from the horse's mouth. There will be no new hardware to show at this year's E3.

IGN didn't even report it. Lol.

It's way to soon to release a new Nintendo console the 3DS and Wii U haven't even been around for 5 years yet, give it a few more years and then we will hear something about a new console.

I'm glad Nintendo addressed this issue.

Epic fail for the guy insisting the rumors were true.

 

There's always rumors near e3, it doesn't surprise me the rumors are false.

it takes time,money and research,and by time I mean over 4 or 5 years of research,development and funding before even the concept gets approved

 

For all we know the new filled patent might be for model for the Gamepad that might get sold separately as a controller instead of being bundled
