I really hope that they do end up putting some on Virtual console. We got a few spin-off N64 games back on Wii's VC, and with the TCG game being released on the 3DS VC, I think that that's going to help build a lot of support for the older games being re-released. Sure, there are remakes out now, but you can't play FR/LG on a 3DS, and a lot of people (myself included) like the nostalgia trip or prefer the original versions.

I'm not saying they should release FR/LG, I meant to say that there isn't a way to play a Gen I game (or a Gen I remake in that case) on a 3DS. I'd expect them to release RBGY on the eShop, if they do put anything on there. They'd possibly put FR/LG on Wii U though, since it has GBA games.

I want them to do a Yellow remake sometime. With the current technology they would be able to better realize their initial goal (basing a Pokemon game off the Pokemon anime). It would be more interesting than yet another Red/Blue remake.

I really want Pokemon Stadium 1 & 2 to come to the Wii U Virtual console and it'll be awesome if Gen 1 and Gen 2 games would come out on the 3DS virtual console

The thing about rereleasing the core Pokemon games is that they'd have to do something to compensate for the link cable interactivity system. If they just released, say, Red / Blue, then there's no way to fill out the whole dex unless they edit something in the ROM to enable trading.

Super Mario Bros 3 on 3DS actually used Download Play for multiplayer. I know it's a completely different thing, but I was thinking they might find some way to emulate the link cable. Not likely, but I get this strange feeling that it's possible.
