    • I've already played these games in the past few years...it's stupid to port them so soon.

I personally think developers should be devoting their time to making new games for the new systems, not remastering games that came out a year or two ago.

Does the fact they're developing sequels to most of these games at the same time change anything for you? Eg. The Last of Us, Tomb Raider, Sleeping Dogs.

I like it. I wish developers were more open to remasterd titles and ports, though...

...But I also think for now PlayStation Now is a solid choice.

That's cool I guess, but I still fail to see a point in remastering a game that literally came out a year or two ago (Last of Us, GTAV, etc.)

Well The Last of Us is a masterpiece and was obviously exclusive to a platform coming to end of it's life.

I don't think GTA V was on PC.

True, they could've waited a couple years for "The Last of Us" and a couple other titles, too. I wouldn't consider it a masterpiece, though - it's just a cinematic-based game.

I thought it was a bit silly that The Last of Us Remastered was released a year after the original.  I know it sounds better than "The Last of Us Ported" and just calling it "The Last of Us - PS4/Xbone" would make people think "why buy the same game I already played just cause it's on a new system".  But seriously, a year after?  Talk about milking the cash cow while the cows still young.  They may have well just skipped the PS3 all together and released it on the PS4, but then how could they get twice the money for the same game in such short time.  I don't really care about whether it's Playstation Now or ports, I just think people should wait a bit more than slightly over a year to re-release their games.

It's a Sony game........

I know. The accolades are tremendous, and what they did was pretty impresive. Just, personally, I don't feel it was my type of game.

Fair enough.

I really think they should have waited for Last of Us. I mean, if they wanted more cash from it, waiting a couple more years would have totally brought it in, more effectively even than a remaster after a year. I think they should only port them if it's been several years and like, the multiplayer servers are gone. Reasons like that.

Doesn't change my opinion that I mistakenly mentioned Xbone.

Doesn't change my opinion that I mistakenly mentioned Xbone.

I didn't suggest that. Your opinion is fine.

Some are pointless cash grabs. I don't own a PS4 or Xbox One so I can't say I've picked up any port of a last gen system but I can't see myself planning to either. If in the future I get a PS4 I'm not going to pick up The Last of Us because I never picked it up on PS3 to begin with and visa versa.

The ports don't bother me and I get that some out there want to play definitive editions of Tomb Raider or whichever, or experience stuff like GTA5 on next-gen/PC. I won't be using the PS Now service so again I don't mind. It appeals to certain people but not me.

How about instead of remakes, the hardware makers support backwards compatibility in the first place :O sorry for my blasphemous and crazy idea ^^"

I don't know, I was against it at first but they did a really good job with Tomb Raider, like dayum. I would gladly like to see some of my other previous gen games looking like that.

They aren't remakes. They're simply ports. Backwards compatibility is not possible since the hardware is too different.

If it is just porting and possibly using higher quality assets they still had, then why not? It increases the game's accessibility.Even though chances are they will have higher quality assets, I would rather it just be "released" under the same title as if it is just a port, and not get the title "remastered".And I do feel it would be too soon to actually upgrade last gen games to current gen standards. (instead of just porting with using higher quality assets and effects they might have already had) Maybe in about a year, and probably it should be starting with early last gen titles.

I'd normally be okay with it, but since it's literally the only thing the PS4 has been getting, I'm starting to think they find getting people to buy the same game twice is an acceptable form of business. It's not though. I mean, look at Media Molecule. They been keeping their new game hidden and when they finally announced it, it turned out to be not so new. They literally kept Tearaway hidden from us when all it is is a port to PS4 with the addition of the word "Unfolded."

Well, I've been singing the same song for a long time now: "I wish I could play [insert game title here] but I don't have/probably never will have a PS3." But I do have a PS4, so if it meant playing titles I missed out on, you wouldn't hear me complaining about ports. :P

I'm not against it,its good for those who haven't play the games on previous gen and if you played the game already you don't have to buy it.
