Do you ever draw because it relaxes you?

Posted

Like I'm only really good at it when I give a shit but usually i just draw because it makes me feel less stressed for whatever reason or if im bored.

I just like doing little doodles in these situations really. Makes me just give much less of a shit and i get less anxious and stressed I guess.

What about you guys?

Yeah, that is how my Sora chibi was made. I do more doodling then actual sketches anymore.

I draw houses when I'm upset.

Somehow, a solid structure of a house seems like a calming metaphor for structured life, or it could just be dormer windows are fun to sketch, but I have a ton of house pics in my notebooks.

Yeah I do sometimes but not as much as I used to.

Yeah I do sometimes but not as much as I used to.

Yeah I don't as much as I used to either

Drawing doesn't relax me, I mean it does but not drastically. Drawing actually stressed me out because I want to be a concept artist.I draw because I want to create characters, monsters and worlds and to become a concept artist like Tersuya Nomura. I do feel happy and proud when whatever I draw comes out great. What really makes me relaxed is playing video games.

It does but at the same time it doesn't. If I'm not focusing and allow myself to go off into another world, I'm stress free. When I want something I draw to turn out really good or it's a gift for someone I start stressing out because I want it to look good.

Drawing is like the one time I don't feel like sticking my hand into the core of the earth and crush it.

I draw most of my free time. But it's a instinct to draw when I'm upset. I let the anger out on the paper and ink and it relaxes me afterwards.

Drawing stresses me out.

Same here, I like drawing keyblades in such situations and it makes me feel better.

If I feel a particularly strong idea driven by an emotion, I'll wear myself out putting it down on paper, so yeah.

Sometimes it seems like I draw the best when I'm not supposed to be....Particularly, when I was in school. I guess that may be because I felt really out of place/ out of my element  in school, so drawing made me feel much better.  Nowadays, my method hasn't changed much.....it's okay to sit down and draw, but I still think I do much better when I'm not actually supposed to be doing it. (Like if I should be cleaning instead, lol.) Life might get weird, but my sketchbook will always be on point, son!

It's relaxing when I'm doodling in the margins of my notes during school, but in any other situation I actually get kinda stressed out. I'm pretty critical of my work, so I just get frustrated that I can't do better.

Sometimes, but it doesn't really make me relaxed. Depends on how I'm feeling though.. : D
