I hear the game is a pretty lousy port. Locked resolution, stupidly big install and some pretty big spikes in frame rate.

Any idea who actually worked on the port of it?

The "stupidly big install" can't be helped. It's always been a very big game.

That will likely be fixed overtime. I hope. But there are more positive reviews than negative. Most of the negative reviews are from a bunch of babies. They complain about the size and 720p resolution. I, personally see no problem. Can't wait to get the game.

Oh yes a lot of negative reviews on Steam are like that. Personally I own the game on PS3 so I won't be giving SE more money on a game I never liked to begin with but the game is riddled with issues at the moment so hopefully patches fix that.

It doesn't excuse why most of the cutscenes are uncompressed and a cause for that huge install. How anyone excuse a 60GB+ install for a game that is over 4 years old is beyond me. Not even PS4/X1 or PC games nowadays stretch over that for the sake of it.

If it is such a problem, you can uninstall it when you finish the game. Simple.

It's a lot to download so the speed of ones internet has to be brought into question. You can't simply say "uninstall it" when you're finished as for some people just downloading it would be a nightmare.

Downloading a huge file and then simply deleting it afterwards.... must be nice having great internet that allows people to do that.

Then downloading is the only issue. You can't just give up on a game because of it's file size. If you are not living in Australia, I feel you have no right to complain. Internet speeds here are crap compared to the rest of the world. And it will take a while to finish the game anyway.

I live in Ireland where we might as well have potatoes for a source of internet.

Well PS4 and Xbox One games don't use more than dual-layer Blu-rays so they couldn't. And XIII has always been massive. 44GB on PS3. And that's because of the way they made the cutscenes originally. And the good old PC Master Race wouldn't accept an inferior version. Really some people just need to get over some of these problems or use the mods available. Honestly the entire game is still there in HD and they even added the features the original versions don't have that they asked for.

Heh. Australia is one of the worst. If not, it is the worst.

@TerraRedeemed

The resolution is locked at 720p, but mods will probably unlock that and allow you to have it at 1080p+.

Already happened. xD

This. With many PC gamers it seems that you make sure not to give them something they don't want and they still end up crying, and like you said, 720p is still HD, so they should just shut up. I, personally, would not care, just as long as I get to play the actual game.

Following the addition of Japanese voices and Easy Mode in the PC version of Final Fantasy XIII I asked Square Enix if they had any plans to update the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions with this content along with a digital version. Unfortunately, they do not. This is what they said.

Hmmm as far as I know there's no plans to update the console version. Sorry!

Well poop

Uh... don't these things usually have articles for citation?

They will probably add it when this game is inevitably updated to the PS4 and XOne

The big problem with porting it to PS4 & Xbox One is that it would be bigger than a dual-layer Blu-ray Disc can hold.

I'm sure they got some new compression trick up their sleeve.  Whatever they got to milk it the best they can!

They compressed the PC version which wasn't enhanced in any way and it was still 60GB.

Square Enix has announced the PC version of Final Fantasy XIII will be updated on December 11 with custom resolutions and graphics options. The PC version of Final Fantasy XIII-2 releases on the same day.

Ooh, might actually buy it then

Only thing that could make it better is if they updated with higher quality textures and stuff too

Oh, and speaking of XIII-2, does anybody know if the high resolution models are being used for that game, or if they're going to use the lower quality models the console version uses?
