Hey there everyone, how's it going?  You know, something that I really appreciate about the video game world lately is the fact that HD collections have been releasing often.  I think that this is a great concept, and a very important concept to us gamers!  HD collections have been coming out for a while now, and I'm very happy that Sony is releasing all these collections for the PS3.  I think these collection packs have significant importance, and I shall explain why.

A lot of us grew up playing certain video games from the PS2, such as the Jak And Daxter series, the Metal Gear games, Devil May Cry, Kingdom Hearts, etc.  Nowadays, most of us don't have our consoles anymore, or we've lost some of the games we had, or have had to sell them, or whatever other circumstance.  We feel the urge to relive these past experiences, to be able to go through these adventures again, and that's when the HD collections come up.  Not only are they a great way to relive moments from our childhood and early teenage years, but they're also useful and pretty economic in the fact that we get three games in one disc for forty dollars!  That's a pretty sweet deal!  And this doesn't apply just to old games.  Even current gen series like Mass Effect and Ezio's Assassin's Creed arc are available in collection format as well!  I find that this is a great way for people to buy games, since they get a lot of games on one disc for a reasonable price.  I really hope Sony continues rolling out the HD collections for other great game series we love.

So then, what do you all think of HD collections?  Do you think they are a useful addition to the gaming world?  Do you think they're unnecessary? State your opinions below! :D

Since I still own and often play my PS2, I don't buy any HD collections for my PS3. For example, I just beat FFX and FFX-2 last year, just before the HD collections came out. So I really have no intention of playing a game that has it's story still fresh in my mind.

But, I always buy everything KH that comes out in North America. Manga, strategy guides, trinkets, and of course games. Plus final mix in america?? It's like a brand new game.

Indeed HD collections are great.I grew up only with the Nintendo consoles,so I missed a lot of great PS1 and PS2 games, but all those HD collections allows me to play those games I missed which is great.

BUT,to be honest,I would have prefered if the PS3 was backward compatible with PS2 games. Except for Kingdom Hearts I.5 and II.5,the extra features are not that interesting,so I'd rather have backward compatibility, that way I wouldn't be limited to play only a select few PS2 games.

I think an important point you missed is that they also allow people to play games they missed when they were younger. I never played a lot of PS2 games like Ratchet and Clank as a kid, and I never owned any home consoles aside from the PS2, SNES, and Wii, so I missed a lot of games. I've been able to play Ratchet and Clank and Wind Waker thanks to HD remakes, and I also plan on trying a lot of other games I missed through them. I really love the concept of making these games available again in a new format, I don't get why people are so against them. I don't necessarily get excited for new ones, but I still appreciate what they do for the fanbase.

Funny. I still have my PS1(X) and PS2, along with my PS3 of course. I also still own a GBA, NDSLite (although the top screen and shoulder buttons are broken), and have a 3DS.

Playing standard definition games aren't exactly visually pleasing when playing it on a HD TV. HD is so shiny~ 0/*

It's also a good way for people who haven't played the original games to play them on the newer consoles. I had never played KHI or ReCoM because I joined the series late, so this was a good opportunity for me to play them.

Well the old ones were backwards compatible. Mine was one of those, but it's at the end of it's life cycle, so I'm going to have to get a slim model, which was the first one made without the backwards compatibility. T.T"

Anyway, yeah, I really do appreciate the HD collection trend that has been going on lately, it is making it really convenient for me to get into new series lately. X3

I also think it is good for people who may have siblings who ruin their discs -_- or for those who got a ps2 later and never could find good quality used games. PS3 games do hold up better

The purpose of HD collections is to make them playable on modern platforms. And it's dam good reason too.
