From what I understand, they were just trying to get in a lot of characters who appeared on Sony's systems (Though I doubt they got in all of them since that would be way too many characters). Travis was a pretty funny inclusion too, but not as funny as a Smash Bros picture.

The Cloud art in here is from the original release of FFVII. They could have used older art from Mega Man. Something that wasn't made by Nintendo.

Well they used the old Cloud art from the original FF7 so they could've used an old one for Megaman from Megaman 8
