Since a lot of people are conflicted about the ships of SoRiku and SoKai, maybe Square could implement a dating sim kind of choice and let the players choose who they would prefer Sora to end up with. That way, everyone could be happy. I've seen many instances where people say ,"If *insert ship here* becomes canon I will never play Kingdom Hearts again and I'll throw away my games!!!1!!" So would you guys agree and say that this would be a good option? no hate, please!

This is probably the absolute last thing that the series needs. "Kingdom Hearts" and "dating sim" shouldn't even be in the same sentence.

Why is romance in Kingdom Hearts such a taboo (not just speaking about you, I've noticed this pattern elsewhere too). I'm asking this purely out of curiosity, not meaning to complain or say your opinion is wrong. ^^ I've just never really understood why people don't like the idea.

I know KH is mainly about friendship, but would romance (not being the main focus) really ruin it all?

You don't need to justify your actions. I'm not going to get mad just because you question my opinions.

To me, romance in KH would feel a little pretentious. We haven't even seen Sora's parents. It seems like KH is focused mainly on the friendships of the original characters, romance just doesn't feel right.

No thanks. I don't think romance is one of the bigger themes of the KH story so doing something like this might feel forced. 

I'd prefer if romance in general was left out of KH, I think a dating sim minigame sort of thing would just be even more of a mess, honestly. I don't see that ever working with the series, personally. If it does end up happening, however, I'd like it if there was an option to keep anyone from getting in a relationship for those of us who just don't like that idea.

Okay, I can make an exception to my "No romance in KH" opinion for this one.

No,the last think we need in KH is dating sim elements. If that happens I'm done. Sora isn't just some player stand in, he's a character with a clearly defined personality, it just wouldn't work.

 

Even as a guy guy Sora and Kairi is the only couple I can accept in KH, and that's just because they where dropping very strong hints thought all of KH, CoM, and KH II. The chemistry between any other combination of characters just isn't there. Sora loves Kairi, Kairi returns the sentiment but neither has actually said it to the other yet (but hey, the did the poupu drawing). The fake memories Namine implanted Sora with where based off of his feelings for Kairi, and those fake memories made those feelings even stronger. Sora even actually said that he wanted Kairi to be "more than a friend"

 

Sora and Riku is a much weaker case when you take in the context. Sora was more worried about Riku because Riku had been missing for a year, at least Sora knew where Kairi was. In 3D he had no problem hugging Riku, if he had any romantic feelings for Riku at all, he'd have been a lot more hesitant about it. It seems more to me like Riku's gone from being Sora's friend and rival to a protective big brother type.Just let Sora and Kairi kiss at the end of KH III, it never has even has to be mentioned again. From my own experience, not much changes when a friendship become a romance. Things just get more comfortable. Besides, it just wouldn't have that Disney feeling if the Hero didn't get the Princess.

Dating and romance has never been what Kingdom Hearts is about. The series foundation lies very strongly on friendship and it's importance-- that's a massive part of the appeal. The only canon ships you should see in the series are established ones from the Disney stories. Romance between KH characters would feel totally out of place. We have enough romance in media anyway, so KH is still a very refreshing series in that aspect.

Hmmm.....I'm down for a Yen Sid/ Master Eraqus option.
