Now it's time to think about something very important. in kingdom hearts BBS we hear a little about Sora's father, however we never hear anything about Riku's, I am thinking that Riku's father left after Riku was born. In other words in kingdom hearts 3 we may find out that Riku's father is Xehanort.

This maybe a repeat i don't know.

Nomura has constantly insisted that parents/family are not important to KH

Well it couldn't be Xehanort, since he left the island years before Riku was even born, much less conceived....but if Riku was somehow RELATED to him, that could be doable.

Uncle maybe? Distant relative?

Anyone else notice that Ephemera bares a stunning resemblance to Riku? Does that even mean anything? xD

Or Riku's dad could be fine and dandy living at home for all we know. We don't have enough information one way or the other; family is inconsequential in KH.

But if Riku's dad does show up, it'd totally either be Kuja or Cecil from Final Fantasy. Because they all have silver hair. Totally legit.

Wrong, It's Sephiroth.

Seriously though,we'll never find out anything about Riku or Kairi's family because they don't matter enough.

Which makes me question why they didn't make them sort of orphans cuz I'm sure as hell after mysteriously disappearing for a full year that they won't just simply allow Sora and Riku to just leave again. That or Sora and Riku's parents are the most careless inconsiderate parents in the universe xD

"Oh hi son, you're going on another dangerous adventure?Sure go on ahead"

Also Sora hasn't answered the most important question yet xD

Mmm-hmm....the mysterious little youngster from Chi. Although suspicious, no one really knows his true purpose yet.

What if Riku actually has quite the kind and loving family and DOESN'T have yet another reason to brood constantly?

we really couldn't say that xehanort and Riku's mother did not have intercourse before xehanort left. We do not have enough information to say they didn't so we could assume anything about that.

Xehanort was a teen when he left. It only takes 9 months for a woman to bare a child. If Riku was really Xehanort's child,  he would have to be much MUCH older than he is now. At least Lexeus/Xaldin/Xigbar's age. And that's being generous

Ah, Japan... making video games with bad/missing parental figures since the 80's.

Yep. riku's dad is sephiroth. Both have silver hair, manly pecs, are well endowed, and are related to darkness [sephiroth has black wings, Rikku's keyblade had a bat wing on it.]Case closed.

Come on everybody it's so obvious!!! Sora, Riku, Kairi, Terra, Ventus, and Aqua's parents are all imaginary parents and they're currently living in Foster's Home of Imaginary Friends. They only close parent have in Kingdom Hearts is Kairi's Grandmother because Kairi's Grandmother is a descendant of a Keyblade Wielder who fought in the first Keyblade War, that explains why Kairi's Grandmother knows the fairy tale story about Kingdom Hearts and hearts of children that create new worlds. ;)

This is a very interesting subject. Sora's and Riku's parents have always been speculated on, as many hints have been given through out the series that they play an integral role in the series, roles that might even be surprising to us at first discovery. Maybe they are Keyblade wielders as well. Maybe they were part of the original Keyblade War. Here's my analysis of the speculation, put in a spoiler tag because it is a tad long:
