Story Overview

 

2015, the modern day. Your lives were everything you thought them to be just yesterday. Dreams, aspirations, work, friends. The day-in-day-out routine of modern life. There were things to be counted on every morning you woke up; the place you lived, the people you knew, the person you were. Today that all changed. You didn't wake up in your home, nor your town, nor your country. You woke up in The City, and today your life changed.

 

Skyscrapers dot the landscape in various sizes and shapes, and the crisscross of roads is reminiscent of most of the huge metropolises of the world, but there is something different about The City from any urban area you've ever seen; it's pure white, from the buildings to the roads to the parks, and it's entirely empty. Only a select handful of people appeared in The City this morning, but beyond that there is not a soul in sight. The shops are empty, the buildings abandoned, and the streets eerily quiet. There is however, a dark foreboding in the air, as if  something darker and more malevolent lurks just beneath the chalky pavement; waiting.

 

But you arrival here changed not only your surroundings, but you as well. The City is not simply a stagnant husk, for you have the ability to change it. You have been given, or discovered within yourself, an Ability of Creation. In small ways at first, and soon in greater amounts, you can change The City. Perhaps you have the power to morph bits of building and road into weapons, maybe you can change the streets into a vehicle to move around in, possibly you can form keys and badges to unlock hidden areas. Each Ability of Creation will differ and match the person from whom it derives. And not only can you create from the foundation of the city itself, but as you do, you change its very fabric. Where you build colors spring and spread to nearby buildings and sidewalks. And as you complete certain strange challenges spread around the various districts the effects of your actions bring even more life to the white empty world. Bit by bit you can begin to bring The City to life.

 

And as you all wake you receive a strange message that seems to resound from within your mind itself. It is a woman's voice, but there is an odd element about it you can't seem to pinpoint. Something... wrong you sense as her voice seems to whisper in your ear.

 

"Welcome to this place. The City. You have many questions I am sure, and I am sorry to leave you in such a state of mystery, but some things must be discovered with one's own eyes, and this City holds many truths you must discover. You have gained powers unlike any human has ever known; the ability to shift the very foundation of your reality and build anew from it. You must use this power to bring life to this blank metropolis, district by district, overcoming obstacles and coming to understand many harsh realities. I shall be your guide through this place. My name is Q, and I will show you the way.

 

Welcome to The City."

 

Whatever the reason you are in The City, you have the tools and desire to discover it, and oppose the forces that may seek to destroy you. And you shall have people to fight alongside - and possibly against- as well, and together you may discover the nature of The City, your powers, and the reason you were sent here in the first place.

 

Structure Overview

Skyline is an open-world roleplay about creation, discover, and companionship. Players will be brought into The City in various groups, and from there can consult a world map (which will be provided and constantly updated in the RP thread) and travel to different districts to overcome challenges there to bring The City to life and discover the truth about both the place itself and about themselves. All throughout several mysterious characters may come into play, slowly unraveling the truth as they interact with the players. Players are free to move to various districts in their groups and contest the various challenges at each area to further the story. They can also switch between groups if two happen to come in contact. Overall, as the City will come to life, the story will come to light.

 

Rules

 

-No over-powered abilities; keep your powers reasonable and in check. They can grows as you all get more powerful, but never so much that you can effortlessly overcome another player.

 

-No taking control of other players

 

-No explicit sexual content. Romance is totally fine.

 

-One character per-player (The point of this rule is to force a player to focus on the actions of a single character so all the characters have a lot of relevance)

 

-Only five posts per-person between every updating post I make (basically any time I post as an NPC or detail a challenge) This is just to make sure we don't have rampant over-posting.

 

-Keep out-of-character chat generally relegated to the Signup/Discussion thread to keep the RP thread mostly on-point.

Name: Khan Kazuma

 

Ability of Creation: "Life Energy" - This Energy is powered by the Life Force of the User and their general Zest for Life, expressed through their interactions, personality and emotion. It manifests as a Green Aura around themselves that can be used for many purposes such as: Energising his body with damaging Energy that can also allow him to dash forward or upward, usually Shoulder-First, to hurt or knock his opponents in the air. Shape Constructs made from the Energy as weapons like Spears or other throwing weapons. The energy can be focused into defensive and offensive means, the former being an Energy Shield that can reflect projectiles but not physical strikes and only lasts as long as the user can hold it, which is a maximum of 5 Seconds. The latter including the Constructs or just focusing the Energy into Damaging Energy Orbs which explode on contact with Matter. The potency and power of this Energy is measured on several Factors: Emotional State or emotions in general, Excitement, Adrenaline from being in combat or experiencing pain and their view on life. At the users peak of power, their Aura is constant rather than just when attacks are used and they become much sturdier with their attacks at a higher strength and damage along with the ability to expel it all in a large, destructive shockwave or a equally destructive Beam, depending on the circumstance. However, the Shockwave or Beam should only be done in desperation, as it completely depletes their Energy for one hour, leaving them completely vulnerable as well as weakened and exhausted, to the point of not being able to fight. More aggressive Emotions and Emotional States fuel the destructive power of the Energy while more mellow ones promote Healing and recovery of the User. However, the latter is impossible in Combat, only for out of combat recovery.

Personality: Throughout his entire life, Khan has always had a high opinion of himself to the point of technical Narcissism, but it was really his pride. He passed school and college with flying colours and was never demeaned in his life by anyone. Those who did met his wrath and he worked hard and well, earning praise from his bosses which only boosted his already inflated ego. He values himself above all else, considering those lower than him as Sub-Ordinates rather than friends, caring not for their well-being. His desire to be more and command others has given him an almost Tyrannical attitude, wishing for the lowest to kneel and grovel in his presence, often gaining dirty looks but his commanding aura and his Height of 7'1 actually caused some to bow to him, further bolstering his ego. He is not dumb however, he is actually very intelligent and tenacious, even regarded as calculating. As a leader, he would be smart but cruel and enforcing, having no one oppose him lest they die, often having Power Fantasies of ruling over a country or even the entire World as its Emperor and taking a great liking to Emperor Shao Kahn the Konqueror from Mortal Kombat, his personality emulating his own to a peak. His kindness and innocence long gone, he will go to extreme lengths to get what he desires, begrudgingly working alongside others if he needs to, especially now that he is present in the City with power, which will even further strengthen his Ego and Superiority Complex. As he is quite clever, he can also deceive others into thinking he is an ally to them just to further his agenda.

 

Background: As stated before, Kahn Kazuma has always had a big Ego, right from Primary School, he was praised for his great work and behaviour and then generous contributions to the School, a generosity that would soon be vanquished by his ever growing ego and darkness. By the time he was in High School, he was enforcing himself upon the weaker students and even the Teachers, still gaining great grades for his work and even respect from his peers. His attitude soon became downright evil and Tyrannical in College and Work, "ruling" over others though fear and his commanding nature. Those who opposed him fell to his superior strength from a lot of exercise and being born with stronger than average Muscles and a great height, along with his nature. He soon became the boss of a Large Corporation and gained the power to cover up his acts and rule it through Fear-Mongering to keep his employees working and quiet, pulling in quite the profit for the Company, keeping them in the black without debt or issue and any employees who spoke up or tried to oppose him were silenced quickly by rather imposing visits to his office. Inspectors also fell for his Veneer of Politeness and manipulative nature, keeping his actions hidden while his workers said nothing out of fear. He was truly a corrupt man, more than even the worst of Politicians, which he has considered being. This however, has not proved satisfying to his desire to rule. His evergrowing want for conquering and ruling was what drew him into The City, his own image being moulded into that of his Favourite Video Game Character: Shao Kahn by his extreme similarity to him and his own massive Ego and Desire for Leadership. This world was his for the taking in his mind.

 

Looks really good! Just make sure your powers don't go too far and you're golden, looking forward to seeing Kahn in action, I'll be pairing him up with Sora in the wave of updates coming either tonight (depending on my workload atm) or tomorrow at latest.
