With Chikao Ōtsuka gone and Leonard Nimoy hospitalized, both voice actors for Master Xehanort will have to be replaced. Now since i know the voice acting auditions take time to do it will be a while before we get a confirmed new voice actor for Xehanort. now i have thought about this a lot and think that it may postpone Nomura's Intended release date for the game, I have a Speculation that the Game may be released Late 2016 early 2017. I think this mainly because of the voice acting auditions, these take from hours to days to weeks to months the be completed. And if it comes to that Japans release date will be pushed back farther and farther. Now for North America we have the luxury of having the voice actor - Leonard Nimoy - still around but hospitalized, if his conditions get any worse and he, and lets hope not, dies we would have to replace him but it may take even longer to produce the game.

tell me what you guys think.

do you think it will be postponed, pushed back, or stopped?

It won't affect the release date, I'm sure they've already prepared for the situation.

Yes that may be, but lets speak "what if's" for a second

what if they didn't plan a head for this, what if they don't have an understudy for Ōtsuka, what if there is no understudy for Nimoy. they chant just get anyone to replace them they have to have someone who can at least get close enough to the voice

That's the thing though. When something like this happens it's resolved in a matter of days if not hours.

Nimoy wasn't the only candidate for MX's voice. There are multiple. They will simply replace him someone else. Though he will definitely sound different. It's going to be a big difference unlike the VA for Kairi and Namine.

This is a billion dollar company. It's not some indie kickstarter project.

It probably won't effect the release date that much, at most maybe a month later. I just hope they find a suitable replacement.

I barely noticed the VA change, the same with Corey Burton instead of Christopher Lee: Noticeable, but not annoyingly so. I have faith they'll find another Xehanort.

Mr. Nimoy is ill? Poor dear....:(

As heartbreaking as this is, I'm sure it was prepared for. Nimoy is aged, and has been having health issues for years now, so I'm sure they've taken measures to find a replacement. Either that, or Goofy was right all along and they really have done all the recording already......

Mysteries, mysteries...

Rule of thumb: they've more than likely finished the voice-overs at this point. Voice-overs are one of the first things they do in games and movies.

Actually it's one of the last thing in games. It doesn't make sense to do it first when they haven't even made the worlds or the story first. It's always last, because otherwise they could change something and the VA wouldn't be available.

They've replaced VAs in Kingdom Hearts before. Billy Zane, Christopher Lee and Wayne Allwine have all been replaced for one reason or another, and the characters they voiced still show up all the time.

My point is, even death will not stop KH3 from coming.

Unfortunate that Mr. Nimoy is hospitalized. We just went through the loss of Mr. Otsuka. We don't need anymore painful losses. With that said, no, everything will be right on schedule, especially in Japan, where voice actors are everywhere for games and anime, etc.

Yes as a theorist i cannot just brush off the fact that they most likely have replacements but like the rest of the charecters they have been replaced by people who they auditioned. everyone has their opinion an i'm not saying MINE is right, but- we cannot brush off the fact that no one can get everything down on the first try. lets face it everyone gets anxiety when they do something for the first time, and new voice actors aren't any different. we do not have an offical release date and no matter what Nomura announces we cant be sure that that was his intended release date or something he had to improvise. but i will try to get into contact with square enix and or Mr. Nomura to see what they plan on doing

Nomura doesn't set the release dates. There is a whole different team for that stuff.

Wait a min. Are  you saying that they actually let actors go to the studio and do the recording and then choose which one to use because they might not like one?

You realize how unproffesional that sounds right? As I said before, this is Square, not some amateur high school team project.

Voice acting isn't a reason to delay a release date for a game. Especially not an AAA title like KH3. It's absurd.

Well as we now know that Leonard Nimoy has passed away, the auditions for English voice actor for Master Xehanort will happen. Surely this process will take time. So I guess it will delay the development of Kingdom Hearts III a bit as well. Like you said, I also think that the release date might be late 2016 or early 2017.

RIP Leonard Nimoy

No, I'm saying that when they do get a new voice actor they (the voice actor) may not get the lines down right way everyone goes through anxiety when they do something huge anyone who says they don't is either lying you has no emotions (figuratively). all im saying is that as humans we cannot be expected to jump into something huge with out feeling a little  nervous

But, that's their job. Sure they might not get the line at first right but that's not because of anxiety. They do this all the time.

Yes that's true they may mess up whether its from anxiety or not but think about it a voice in a game is really is really important, but when millions of fans are depending on you, cant help but feel scared right? even a little bit

Well, that's the thing. Millions of fans. It might seem alot for a second but it's really not.

KH isn't that famous. Sure it sells alot but, not very much. As of October 2013, the Kingdom Hearts series has sold over 20 million copies worldwide

That is 7 games combined. GTAV alone sold more than that since it came out.

But anyway, many people who voice act aren't really that intouch with the community of the games. Not to mention that many voice act so many different animes and video games that are vastly more famous than KH.
