Saddest/Emotional endings in Video games?

Posted

Wowee I haven't made a forum post in a long while. Anyway I wanna know, what endings do you think were the most sad/emotional punching to you personally?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvKGqNWKhxk The MGS3 ending is a big hitter for me. I'm not gonna go too much into detail as many of you are probably aware of this one. But just god damn that salute at the end is so power.

The MGS4 ending is an honorable mention aswell, mainly cause of the track used in the final moments is just too good and symbolises the end of Solid Snakes story.

Other honorable mentions are Okami (Not sad per say but emotional all the same) The Walking Dead, etc.

So how about you guys, what endings in games hit you pretty hard?

The ending of season 1 in Walking Dead.firetruckING CHRIST

Also the SPOILER ALERT:Xion's death made me tear up...until Roxas said"With who else will have ice cream left?"What a moment killer

Okami is definitely one of my top emotional(a little bit sad ) ending. Others include crisis core and Pokemon mystery dungeon .

I thought Roxas's line was sweet.

Yeah, I think it was perfect for that moment.

Crisis Core FFVII's ending is really sad.

Xenoblade's ending isn't sad, but it is pretty emotional. More in like a happy way, although one part of it was pretty sad, too.

Also, Crisis Core, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, and... Um... Yeah, those two I guess.

The MGS3 ending isn't quite so hard-hitting if you happen to see Ocelot finger-gunning in the window. That kind of ruined it for me. (Plus I never liked The Boss much to start with.)

Fallout 3's original ending before the Broken Steel DLC was pretty emotional to me- a lot of people hated it, and rightfully so, because it was super anticlimactic and when your character dies, if you don't have an earlier save file, you're pretty much stuck at the last 10 minutes of the game, and that's firetrucking awesome, but I liked sacrificing myself to give the wasteland a chance at a better life. I remember not knowing what the code for the purifier was and freaking out, and then I remembered the Bible passage that Mom always loved, and that all just struck me a really emotional and cool. I dunno, it got to me, at least.

Other good'uns: The Walking Dead; Season One's ending was the only one that legit made me cry, though the Season 2 ending I got gave me heart pangs as well; BioShock 2 had a really good emotional end if you play it pure good the whole way (I haven't tried getting the bad ending- murdering little girls is a bit much for me); Half Life 2: Episode 2 had one of the most likable and longest living characters in the series die at the end and left a helluva cliffhanger, which is sad in it's own special way; Ratchet & Clank: A Crack In Time had a really good ending with Clank's father, and damn if I ain't a sucker for stories about dads.

THIS RIGHT HERE made me cry

I played one of the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games and it had a pretty depressing ending, which surprised me as I never thought I'd get feels from a Poke game even if it is a spin-off

also TWEWY's ending isn't that sad but the credits song (Lullaby For You) always gets me feeling some type of way

Exactly. TWEWY's ending makes me very emotional even though it's a happy one (or exactly because of that). Might be because it's my favorite game and so it means a lot to me. I remember crying when I first beat the game because I was so deeply touched. xD(Moving on)Also, the ending of Persona 3 was pretty sad to me. T_T I had been spoiled so I kinda knew what was going to happen but I think that actually just made it worse.

How the heck did I forget that masterpi- oh yeah Reggie didn't think we'd care about it so he never released it out here. ;_;

The overall ending of Dark Souls isn't necessarily sad, but everything that leads up to it is such a tragedy that I still think it counts as one of the saddest games out there.

Also, the ending of Persona 3 was pretty sad to me. T_T I had been spoiled so I kinda knew what was going to happen but I think that actually just made it worse.

and that is why i am and am not looking forward to ending of the p3 movies......Nyx battle is gunna be so amazing and tht ending on the roof top...oh god thy better show Yukari screaming at Aigis it would be so freaking sad and emotional
