In tonight's Dissidia Final Fantasy press conference some massive news have emerged.

 

Dissidia Final Fantasy is being developed on a custom-built PlayStation 4, with the arcade joysticks even featuring PlayStation buttons.

 

Square Enix has confirmed Dissidia Final Fantasy will remain exclusive to arcade systems for at least one year.

 

Koei Tecmo's Team Ninja is working with Business Division 4 to develop the game.

 

As expected, Ichiro Hazama is serving as producer as he did for Dissidia 012 on PSP.

 

Takeo Kujiraoka is the director, he's been a battle planner/designer for the Dissidia games on PSP and the XIII trilogy.

The PS4 version will be the "definitive edition".

You just misunderstood me. Haha. That expansion pack talk was me talking about if they released the PS4 version at the same time as the arcade version.

I've never played a Dissidia game, but I might pick this one up when it comes out on PS4. Sadly I'll probably be in collage by the time that happens.

Jokes aside this game's actually sounding really interesting. I loved Dissidia 012, so I'll definitely keep an eye on this one. I just hope that the older games will get some more representation this time around. I'd love to see at least one new VI character join in, preferably Celes or Locke.

You know, when this comes to consoles I hope that SE implement some form of online so I can battle it out with other players. It'd be a shame if they didn't because this game has potential for it.

You're right they never went to arcades, but the PSP was a huge system in Japan. They could afford to make a game for it and see how it'd do. It was a success so they made another. The Vita will never reach the level of success the PSP had and clearly Square Enix is aiming high to give us a good fighting game on consoles/arcades. It also looks glorious seeing the characters in bright vivid scenarios (something that wouldn't look nearly as good on handhelds). The game hasn't been announced for PS4, but it has been referenced so why bring it up if it isn't in development for it? Would Sony even allow that? They use arcades for a number of reasons and it's understandable why that is the platform of choice for the game to first come to.

I mean it's not like PS4 gained the title of "fastest selling console ever" in it's first year or anything like that... I'm fair with my opinions though. 2. People keep saying "the bugs need to be worked out" but they wouldn't if it was being developed for PS4 in the first place. The PSP Dissada games played VERY well and they never hit arcades. And what about the Naruto games? They never seem to have bugs.

3. People pay tons of money for maps, skins, etc on Call of Duty or some other shooter. What it makes it different here? More importantly, how can you even be sure arcades will stop it? They could easily leave it in arcades for a year, but still decide to release PS4 exclusive DLC.

4. The game could very well have story if it came to PS4 first. Sure, it would slow it down, but if they announce it at E3 I don't care (which they won't).

2. That`s because you didn`t play the Japanese version, which had less features and plenty of kinks to work out. Then there`s this anecdotal evidence about Naruto. Are those balanced? Are you basing this on jsut what you personally have experienced? How`s the competitive scene with those games?

Because Call of Duty is one of the msot successful series ever and can get away with it, and because paying for all the characters not included in the first arcade run will be MUCH more expensive than the 60 dollars you`re expected to dole out with CoD. Even then, CoD`s momentum is slipping quickly partially because of the DLC plan they have. Beyond that Square Enix`s money grubbing with digital has given them a negative reputation right off the bat.

Even if the PS4 version has DLC, it`ll be less than the starting roster of the arcade version.

4. You don`t seem to grasp that this isn`t a matter of what COULD happen, it`s about what is happening. For all intents and purposes the arcade version is just the version you didn`t see a year before the other Dissidias launched. It`s an incomplete version that lets them get feedback in real time, ensuring the product you eventually get for your PS4 is GOOD QUALITY

The only announced Square Enix press conferences are for division 1 with Mobius and division 2 with FFXV & Type-0 HD.

There's an actual PS4 version you can see footage of. It's a timed exclusive. Get over it.

 

They do so listen to their fanbase. They listen to me all the time. Haha.
