What is Something New You'd Like to See with Sora in KH3?

Posted

As we know, Nomura has stated that we will see a more mature Sora. From the trailers, we can plainly see that Sora is much stronger and will have new and returning skills in his arsenal. My question is, what is something else that you'd like to see with Sora in KH3 that we haven't seen before? My answer to this would have been a more mature Sora, but that's already been confirmed. Due to that, my new answer would have to be that I want to see a less impulsive Sora. In many instances, Sora has acted without completely thinking about the consequences. I want Sora to at least give a little thought to what he's doing and I hope this comes with his new maturity. What is something new, whether it be a characteristic or ability, that you'd like to see with Sora?

He needs to suffer, everyone has suffered besides him. Master Xehanort should attempt to awaken the darkness within Sora by plummeting a few of the Disney Worlds into darkness to make him mad. I want him to get his ass kicked at least once. Here's how it goes down:

Half way through the game, during a siege on Radiant Garden by the 13 SOD in an attempt to recover the hidden research of Ansem the Wise, the GOL must defend Radiant Garden. The battles between characters now would foreshadow the battles at the end of the game. Sora Dolan and Gooby go through the different parts of the city fighting heartless, nobodies and unversed as well as some Seekers of Darkness but no one would die of course. Eventually the 7 GOL coincidentally end up meeting in the same area and they look up to see the 13 seekers. Sora gets so angry about what has happened: the destruction of the city as well as the death of Squall/Leon and Aeris too, Riku tries to stop him but he pushes Riku violently and jumps at Master Xehanort. Boss battle commences and after Sora loses all his health a cutscene plays of the two fighting. MX woops his ass in short and Sora learns he's no match for Xehanort. Sufferring, a lot.

He also needs a romantic side to sweep Kairi off her feet.

how about show some more chemistry between him and his friends. The Re:Coded cutscenes really showed what I felt was some good character development between Sora, Donald and Goofy at Hollow Bastion. More of that please

He needs to be BROKEN. Only then can he be a true mature hero.

That's already been sorted for ya pal.

Personally, I want him to be human. Sure, be the archetypal hero, however, let Sora be human. I want him to be frustrated that a lot of his power actually came from the harboring Ventus heart. I want him to be frustrated that Roxas is yet not his own person. I want his rivalry against Young Xehanort to be stronger than that of Marluxia. I also want him to be angered when his friends are being manipulated. I want him to be dark when he realises Hans was only using Anna to rule a kingdom and took advantage of her vulnerability. I want Sora to be furious when it is revealed that Mother Gothel was using Rapunzel for nothing more than her hair and I want him to go berserk because King Candy imprisoned Vanellope and destroyed his home for his own ego.

He needs a reason himself to WANT to defeat Xehanort. He needs to feel anger and hate. Sometimes Sora can be flat-out dumb. Remember, in Kingdom Hearts I when Leon is talking to him and he suddenly just says, "Wait a moment! What happened to my home, my island.. Riku...Kairi". I'm all for a mature Sora, but he needs to feel sorrow somewhere.

I want to Sora to have to deal with some sort of psychological repercussions as a result from his time in darkness. What was really interesting from 3D was the Anti-Black Coat Nightmare, which is described as a "personification of Sora's nightmares". I find it really interesting that Sora's nightmare took the form of an Organization member, I see it as an indication that Sora is actually afraid of the Organization and/or the darkness. And if that's true, I don't see how Sora could come out of being completely engulfed in darkness completely unscathed. So, I want to see Sora experiencing fear, crippling fear, actually. To the point where he's shaking and can't move. I feel like this would be a great obstacle for Sora to overcome since he's mostly seen as happy and carefree. Getting over that fear would not and should not be east. Plus, this could touch upon the hurt and darkness in Sora's heart. It would be interesting character development for him, plus fear is not something that is explored much in KH beyond "leading to obsession with power and obsession beckons the darkness."

I actually really want that to happen too. I want to see Sora break down. I love Sora and he's one of my favorite characters, but I really want to see how far he can go.

They got rid of KH1 Sora with no reason, while he was the best version of Sora (personality-wise) ever created, I want that to return.

Also, I don't want him to get rid of his older skills, like in the other KH games, I want him to start looking really strong (even if it isn't stat-wise, just having impressive animations for skills and magic is great), and just get ever stronger after time; this means that enemies should be this impressive too (having new and stronger heartless, or just increassing their number).

I agree with the first sentence but that relies on Master Xehanort's actions, Sora can't just make himself mad at someone who's never actually done anything bad to him.

I want Sora to be a badass as well, do something really crazy e.g in KH2 he sliced through buildings.

I want to see a more serious Sora and want him to be human and express other emotions other than mostly happy like he has been KH1 Sora did that best where he had a serious purpose to his quest to find his friends and such and yes KH2 was also like that but he had a more go-lucky look to it with only being serious in the Battle for Hollow Bastion part and in The World That Never Was.  We started to see Sora express pain and anger more so in the end of Dream Drop Distance and I hope we see more of that Sora in KH3, although it went quickly back to the go-lucky type of personality Sora after Riku saves him like he wasn't even fazed at all with what just happened to him he didn't take it as serious as he should have, same with the whole Mark of Mastery Test he should've taken it more serious like Riku did but again it didn't seem like he had that much of a reason to do it he even said so himself that he doesn't need to take it but he just did it anyway because why not.  It's hard to tell with what little we have on KH3 right now but I hope we see Sora actually deal with those issues and how weak he really is compared to Master Xehanort

I agree with the first sentence but that relies on Master Xehanort's actions, Sora can't just make himself mad at someone who's never actually done anything bad to him.

Exactly so. Everyone else has a reason to WANT to defeat Xehanort but Sora doesn't. Like you said, Xehanort needs to give him a reason.

I want Sora to grow up a little and not be such a gullible fool like he was in DDD. YES SORA YOU'RE IN A DREAM WORLD FOR THE 7TH TIME!!!

I still think Sora should retain his light-heartedness and optimism, but I don't want him to be blindly stupid. "WOW NEKU YOU BETRAYED ME AND SET ME UP FOR AN AMBUSH BUT I'M NOT MAD AND STILL TRUST YOU!". Even Neku was like "Wait...really?" LOL

He was written much better in KH1.

Well, concerning Sora, I'd like to see how he rescues all the hearts that lay dormant inside him.  Once he awakens those hearts from despair, it'll no doubt be a surreal experience!  And well, Nomura says he'll be more mature, but I'm interested to see just how mature he'll be!  I'm pretty sure he'll crack a joke from time to time at least. :P
