The similarities between kingdom hearts and sonic the hedgehog series

Posted

I really think kingdom hearts and the sonic the hedgehog series are very similar for some reason. I don't know why but it's probably gonna a have to do with them both in my top 2 favorite video games. But here's a list of the similaraties between kh and sonic!

1. Sora and sonic both are true to their freinds. Something I really noticed, sonic in the older games like sonic rush and secret rings, is that he tries to help out strangers, just like sora. I hope they make more sonic games like that.

2. Sonic and kingdom hearts both have amazing characters. Both kh and sonic really have addicting characters, axel for instance. He's just fun. And shadow is pretty darn badass. But one thing that's always in my head, shadow reminds me of riku. It's probably brcausr they both were evil at one point. Screwattack should make a death battle between shadow and riku. That would be epic.

3. Voice actors in both series. Mephalis from sonic 06 has ansem a voice if you don't know that. And I think silvers voice actor voices either axel, demyx or one organazation member. Idk

Can't think of anything else. Try to think of other things similar to kh and sonic. And until next time, ILL BE BACK.

Sonic and Sora are very friendly like you said,Saix and Shadow have the same voice actor now and I guess the enemies in Sonic Unleashed kinda look like heartless but other then that Sonic and Kingdom Hearts are nothing alike.

Correct, Silver and Axel both have the same voice actor, as of Sonic Generations! :)

1. most JRPG main characters are unless they're the angsty/emotional types who shun away from everyone and yet still draw a crowd

2. well that's opinion

3. many games share voice actors so that's no surprise

Both franchises have spiky-haired protagonists.

Hmm, let see,

Sora=Sonic

Kairi=Amy

Shadow=Riku

Knuckles=Axel (before they made him a the stereotypical Dumb Muscle in Boom)(also because red)

Silver=Roxas (because silver is the color of Nobodies)

Pete=Dr. Eggman (both fat and always screwing up)

Uuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh............well, I guess you could see some similarities, but I wouldn't say those are good examples.

1. Yes, Sonic and Sora seem to have pretty similar friendly and upbeat personalities. But they still have a few differences between them. For one thing Sonic is witty, snarky, and doesn't hang around too long. Sora is naive, goofy, and doesn't find much joy in leaving friends behind, even temporarily. They are both still pretty similar enough to get along together should they ever cross paths, but the ways in which they express their care-free natures are still different and unique to themselves. Also, how exactly are Sonic Rush and Secret Rings "older" games? What do even mean by "older" anyway? Do you mean in relation to more recent games like Lost World or Colors? Because I guess you could make that argument, but typically most fans tend to refer to them as more recent or modern games, or even a mid-era genere. Typically "older" is used to refer to "classic" era titles, like the ones on the Genesis and other 90's era Sega systems. So unless you're a younger fan and those two games were your earliest experiences with Sonic, I'm a little confused by your use of terminology.

2. Ok, yes both series have colorful casts of characters, not counting any Disney characters that are already colorful enough. However, some are comparable, while others ....ehhhh, might be a bit of a stretch. Sora and Sonic again, that's a fair comparison. Riku and Shadow though...well, yes and no. Mostly no. For one thing, just because they're both antiheroes, doesn't mean they're the same kind of antihero. Riku is someone who was corrupted by curiosity, while Shadow is someone who was corrupted by revenge. Riku fought to be redeemed and to help his friends from the shadows, while Shadow fought to regain his memories and choose his own path about who he was going to be. Both still ended up in similar positions as occasionally seen allies to the main protagonist that they're mostly on good terms with (well, maybe for Shadow's case, but it's kind of ambiguous about how he is after Sonic 2006 retconned itself out of existence, making it unclear just how far back things were changed for Shadow's history. Is he still working for GUN? Is he still a renegade? Nothing has been made clear...mostly because he hasn't had a prominent role beyond being a boss battle.), however they both had different paths and struggles for different reasons. Sure they had a lot of darkness in their lives, but they both dealt with it differently. Riku felt immensely guilty and unworthy for having been weak enough to be used by Darkness, while Shadow was just too busy griping over what he had lost to really question what he was doing until things were almost too late. Still, they're familiar enough in terms of how they are comparatively more serious than their counterparts (but not the same amount in comparison towards each other) and they have both had some form of checkered past. But fundamentally they still work different from each other as anti heroes. I don't even know if they would make a good match in a Death Battle, mostly because they have more differences then they do similarities. Vegeta vs Shadow made sense because they were a closer comparison to each other (that and the many similarities between DBZ and Sonic have been pointed out to death), the differences between them being much shorter in comparison to their similar roles and tendencies in their respective series. They were closer to being the same kind of antihero than Riku and Shadow are towards each other. I could still compare Riku to Knuckles if I wanted to, seeing as how they were both friendly rivals with their main counterparts, they tend to team up a lot of the time, they occasionally butted heads back in their earlier days, and they were both manipulated by their principle antagonists. But like with Shadow, these two hold their roles differently as well. Riku has had to go through some huge redemption story. Knuckles...hasn't, because he didn't have to, at most he just had to struggle on being the last member of his race to carry on his duty. But hey, long hair, am I right? Point is, you could compare most characters depending on what you focused on, but none of them can fully match up to each other. And as for a Death Battle, Shadow has already been featured in one and died already. But if Batman and Goku can be brought back, I don't see why Shadow can't, as long as they find a suitable opponent for him.

3. Ok, while both Kingdom Hearts and Sonic DO share at least 2 voice actors in Quinton Flynn (Silver/Axel) and Kirk Thornton (Shadow/Saix), that's about all they share. No, Mephiles was NOT voiced by ANY actor of Ansem or anyone named Ansem. Mephiles was voiced by Dan Green, the same 4Kids voice actor as Knuckles. That's why he sounded familiar, but the similar voice was in the same game, not in Kingdom Hearts. So far, Dan Green has not voiced anyone in the KH series, so Flynn and Thornton are the only actors to have feet in both series (and in almost similar roles no less...well, in terms of inflection and relation towards each other anyway). There is NO ONE ELSE. I know Mephiles sounds as sinister as Ansem, but trust me they are not the same actor, they don't even sound that similar.

Those were my only problems with your comparison. Otherwise, I can kind of agree that they both have similar appeals in the themes of adventure, friendship, and plain old good vs evil with a few antiheroes sprinkled here and there. They still have a lot of major differences between them, but they are still similar enough in nature and spirit that if they should ever be fortunate enough to cross paths it would feel pretty natural.

Silver is voiced by Quenton Flynn who voices Axel, and Shadow is voiced by the same dude who voices Saïx.

Chris and Sora look alike. xD

Peace!

i say naruto is more similar

Sonic Unleashed and Kingdom Hearts. Both wield swords. Both have to go on a journey to kill the antagonist. Both have to eat chilli dogs

Both had shocks close to the end. (Sora sacrifice, Merlina turns out to be the actual antagonist)

Both have terrible fan bases Kappa

What are you talking about? Both have tons of similarities because they are both in the same game.

Funny, I don't remember playing as Sonic, but I do remember that after the ansem fight, Dr Eggman tried to open the door and Sonic's cameo turned out to be him whacking Eggman with the Kingdom Key B. Yep.
