Vegetarianism / Veganism Discussion Topic

Posted

I'm curious, is anyone on KH13 a vegetarian or a vegan?

I want to make a topic for people who are, or for people who are interested in becoming one, to share links, recipes and ideas. This will hopefully be a nice spirited discussion with a healthy sharing of ideas and *not* a place for arguments and preaching from either side. If there's a small group of us, it'd be great if this became a place for support and encouragement too. Personally, I decided to become vegan almost 2 months ago and I'm really glad that I made the decision.

What are your thoughts on the whole thing?

Oh my gosh, the great DChiuch has spoken!

In all seriousness, I am neither so I can't help. I'd love to, but can't. Sorry pal.

*dies from shock*

Honestly Im not a vegetarian or a vegan, but I really have no problem with anyone's diet choices, you're all just a hell of a lot stronger than me to not be tempted into eating meat and dairy products and the like.

I salute you

I am thinking about it. However a I love my fresh bacon! Haha.

i needs my meat, but if i were ever to go vegetarian i would eat this fruit called jack fruit, people say that when you cook it it tastes like pork and when you eat it normal it tastes like a pineapple banana hybrid. so my diet would be mostly that and dragon fruit.

*gasps* The mighty webmaster! Long have we awaited thee (and thine post on veganism). Many had long since given up faith, claiming that the DChiuch, Webmaster Of KH13 was but a legend, but now we all see he exists! They said I was a fool for still believing in youWHO'S THE FOOL NOW, MOTHER!? *angrily shakes fist*Also no, I'm not a vegan. I don't think I'll ever be able to live the vegan lifestyle because I, for some reason, can't feel full if I haven't eaten something heavy and there aren't a lot of things that don't involve meat which i can still feel full after eating.I have always been somewhat interested in hearing about veganism though. What's it like? And do you guys know of good vegan food that can keep a person full (other than sandwiches/pizzas/pasta)?

Me and my bro are alike in a lot of ways.

He was a vegetarian once.

He lasted about 3 weeks.

I'd probably end up doing the same, so, there'd be not hope for me.

I myself have never been nor intend on being vegetarian/vegan. However, I do respect anybody's choice in terms of what they choose to eat, so long as it doesn't harm them. And as far as I know, there's nothing all that harmful about not eating meat, so you're good! :D

First Cloud gets announced for Smash, Shadow appears in the season finale for Sonic Boom, and DC makes a topic.

This week broke the matrix.

I was a vegetarian for about 8-12 months during my junior high school years for religius reasons

Are you going Ovo-Lacto-Vegan (absolutely no animal products)? or Lacto-vegan (no eggs, but dai?

I have an asian background, so back then a lot of my vegetarian food came from dishes derived from soy and soy beans apart from your typical eggs and greens. Look up 'Vegetarian Fish' if you're interested, which is supposedly made from soy bean curd and Seaweed.

Other than that, I wish you best of luck! Going green can be somewhat expensive as well in terms of expenditure and it might make eating out a bit more restricted in terms of food choices and restauraunts that can cater to your diet but if you know how to cook or know which supermarkets or restauraunts to visit - you'll do fine.

If you live in Sydney, NSW Australia - There is place called "The Green Gourmet" in Newtown which I used to always go to and occasionally visit with my Aunty who is full vegetarian. That restauraunt only serves vegetarian stuff, even the Ice cream they serve is made from Soy milk...

Would love to become a Vegan/ Vegetarian. I hear that many people who are truly dedicated to the lifestyle are very healthy/ energized people!! It's just difficult, because I was raised up in a very meat-loving, Southern cooking, home style munching family, so temptation is just too great...plus I just love snacks , I'm not gonna lie. xD

Making that step would be nice, though..plus I could exaggerate my figure a bit. Mmmmmm~ <3

I used to be a vegetarian for several years, eating vegetables, eggs, grain, and dairy, though recently I have reverted back to eating meat.  I just found that I couldn't get the nutrients I needed from a vegetarian diet, or at least not in the method I was attempting it.  Have you tried soy products, such as Morning Star burgers, sausages, and the like?  They're very high in protein, delicious, and I found them to be a great meat substitute.  I'm in the United States, however, and I'm uncertain if they have them abroad.

Due to my intestinal problems, I am soon (next year) converting (going to try to at least) into a gluten-free flexitarian diet.

This will help me with my gluten allergies, and also help my stomach.

I have really kind of been a flexitarian since I was 14...

WOW I didn't know this existed.

I'm a vegetarian from birth and I wont ever break away from it. I find meat, chicken, pork, etc. weird and I rather enjoy food outside of those. I usually eat Indian dishes, fruits & vegetables, and dairy products and maybe the occasional junk food (for cheat days, since I'm on a diet too).
