Someone get me started on the Star Wars series

Posted

I have not gotten into the series....I think I once watched a movie when I was a kid but I was too young to understand at the time and had no idea what was going on. I hear there are a bunch of films out there and since I have my academic break coming up so I thought 'Why not marathon the films?'

Can some of you recommend me the order of sequence that I should watch the films in in order for the plot to make sense to me?

The only things I associate with the series are light sabers, a dude in black with a mask called Darth Vader, a robot thingy called R2D2 and some green-wise-guy called Yoda?

Thanks

The Darkside.

Also, the Clone Wars is pretty good.

Watch all the movies from IV-VI and I-III.

Then, watch The Clone Wars TV show for a much better representation of the Prequel characters.

Then, watch Star Wars: Rebels, because it's good.

However, if you just want to catch up to speed for the new film, just watch IV to VI.

I have to agree with Kaweebo. Especially on the Clone Wars front. Good show, if you've got time.

Definitely go for IV-VI first, then I-III. All six are great, but release order is the best way to watch them. I wouldn't say the shows are necessary. I personally found Clone Wars to be really boring (I'm trying to watch it again, but got sidetracked), and didn't bother with Rebels since it didn't look worth the time.

Also, the Star Wars Christmas Special is the best thing to come out of Star Wars. Never before have I seen a film that defines a culture the way it does.

I just posted an article I found on this last night.  As for me, I didn't really have a choice.  My parents just sat me down with IV, V and VI because that's all there was back then.

Release order is best.  You could also just skip the prequels altogether. (Disney seems to be ignoring them anyway)

Aha, so you are looking to invest in the Star Wars universe, eh Catmaster? Then you've made a superbly wonderful choice! Trust me, like KH, Star Wars is something you'll get addicted to the first time you sit down to experience it! Now then, obviously, you should watch the films! Watch the Original Trilogy first, which is Episodes IV through VI, and then the Prequel Trilogy, which is Episodes I through III! Release order is the best way to go, since that way, you'll be set up by the mysteries the Original Trilogy brings, and then you see the big reveals in the Prequel Trilogy! It's simply beautiful! After you watch all six films, watch The Force Awakens, which comes out next week! :D

Also, as others have mentioned, watch The Clone Wars! It's such an amazing show! If you have Netflix, you can watch all 6 Seasons of the show there! Ugh, the series is so addicting, I'm already on Season 4! I haven't watched Rebels yet, but I've heard it's good!

Then there's also the Expanded Universe, which includes Comics, Novels and Video Games that expand the lore of the series, ya know? Although Disney said that everything from the EU is now non-canon, that shouldn't stop you from checking it out, ya know? Ah, such an amazing Universe, Star Wars is!

But yeah, for starters, watch the 6 films! That should be enough for you at the moment! May the Force be with you! :D
