What should the layout of Castle Oblivion be in KHIII?

Posted

As we have heard, there may be confirmation that Ventus will wake up from his slumber in KHIII. Which, in return, brings us to Castle Oblivion. Nobody yet knows what the gimmick for this world will be. So, do you want it like the way it worked in COM/RECOM/RECODED, or do you want somthing else?

I have a theory or two. Depending on if Sora's the only playable character, or not.

Sora: Each room he enters represents a world that appears in KH3. Kind of like that terminal section of "End of the World". But without any figments of anyone he met up until that point. Seeing that he RARELY understands anything.

Kairi: Her section would involve a white room crumbling around her. Then turning into a mixture of Radiant Garden, Destiny Islands, Castle Oblivion itself, and Twilight Town. This would be due to her childhood memories getting mexed up with Namine's memories.

13 Floors with many different rooms, maybe?

I can see Castle Oblivion as an End Of The World like world. Problem is, it needs to distinguish itself from The World That Never Was.

Aqua will be with Sora, so the memory-rooms won't react the same way. Aqua is the only one who can find the Chamber of Waking.

Maybe a combo of Re:CoM and Re:Coded, where there are 13 floors and 12 basements with rooms that take on the properties of previously explored worlds but instead of being fully realized like in Re:CoM, only they are incomplete and partially formed, with a layout similar to the worlds in a smaller scale, similar to Re:Coded.

As a world itself though, I would kind of like it to be handled like how Shadow Moses Island was handled in MGS4, where the Castle is a hallow shell of it's former self and there are shocks and twists and some surprisingly epic battles.

Honestly, I would be psyched if Castle Oblivion stuck to the card battle system presented in Chain Of Memories!  I'm one of those few KH fans who really liked that combat style, and well, since Castle Oblivion is dominated by cards, it'd make sense for us to use cards, ya know?  Though, I remember that in Re:Coded, you didn't use cards per-se to fight, but instead, you used them to unlock different rooms and go through different things with Data Sora so he could learn the meaning of hurt.  I guess it really just depends on the context of the situation.  Since Aqua's the only person that can go through Castle Oblivion without getting lost, I'm pretty sure she's the only one who'll go in to save Ventus, ya know?  Or maybe Sora and the others tag along too!  I really don't know, but I'm really hoping Castle Oblivion is playable! :D

I would actually like it if Aqua would visit different rooms, and have each section changing from Castle Oblivion into Land of Departure. Making it so that her presence alters each section of the world with Sora accompanying her so that he can give Ven's heart back. Each room would alter to a past world Aqua or Sora had visit so that they can learn about each other's experiences.

I would find it pretty cool if it was really trippy or strange looking but still feels and looks similar to the one in RE:COM. It would be nice if there is a type of puzzle in it, but NOT another Cloister of Trials.
