It is said that the keyblades that are regularly wielded are man made. The X-Blade is the counterpart to Kingdom Hearts. But how are the forms chosen? But why does Sora's keyblade look different from Riku's yet in KH 1 Riku can wield the Kingdom Key? And In KH 2 Riku gives Kairi her Keyblade. Also in Days Roxas wields 2 Kingdom Keys at once. I'm just wondering how they are physically forged and how there can be multiple versions of one Keyblade.

That would be neat if in KH3 they showed who forged Sora's keyblade.

Well i think that a Keyblade can only be wielded by the one who was chosen from it (For example, when Sora gave his keyblade to Jack Sparrow, it returned to Sora after a few seconds).

The reason why Riku has another Keyblade now could be that the Kindom Key (which originally belongs to Riku) chose to make Sora its master and so returned to Sora in KH I after Riku took it. But when Riku fought the darkness inside him he was chosen again and became a new Keyblade.

Why Riku had Kairi's keyblade... that's a good question... maybe someone can wield a keyblade of another person if the keyblade or the master is fine with it xD (I mean Sora was able to use Riku's keyblade for a short time, at the end of the battle against Xemnas)^^

And why exactly Roxas can wield two Keyblades... good question again... probably his own and because of a part of Sora inside him? I don't really know sorry^^

And god knows who made those Keyblades, maybe Walt Disney? xD

I can't say for sure that this is true... just some speculation ^^'

In the secret movie in 2.5 Recoded Young Xehanort says this "Every Keyblade master is bequeathed a Keyblade of his very own. With the passing of time, as you can imagine, more and more Keyblades were forged to be handed down."  But again who forged them and how are there multiple versions of one keyblade?

Well that sure is a good question.... maybe we'll learn something about that in KH III or maybe also in KHX-Backcover? ^^

These are questions what will likely be answered on KH3

As for your original post, Kingdom Key was originally meant for Riku. It was manifesting when Riku was being swallowed by darkness and Sora kinda intercepted it. That light we see just before it appears in Sora's hand the first time he receives it? That was Riku's heart. Sora was able to continue wielding it through most of the game because he was carrying the heart of a Keyblade wielder. Riku eventually took it back, but because keyblades can choose their masters and because Riku gave in to darkness, the Kingdom Key chose Sora and it was his from then on. Maybe the Kingdom Key is adverse to darkness?

For Roxas, he can use two because the emotional trauma of Xion's death woke up Ven's heart, allowing Roxas to use both Sroa's and Ven's Keyblades.

We have no clue how Riku got his hands on Kairi's keyblade. All Nomura would say on the matter is "When there's not a normal process of acquisition, I think it's okay to think there's deeper meaning there."

Also, with permission, any wielder can borrow the keyblade of another, as seen in the final battle of KH2

However, I do have a theory I wrote a long time ago and, while there are holes, it has yet to be solidly, officially disproven. I'll see if i can find it and then you can check it out if you like.

I really do hope these questions are answered in 2.8 or 3.

Well, Nomura did say we'd finally learn the true nature of Kingdom Hearts (world) and since Kingdom Hearts, the x-blade and keyblades are all tied together, we'll probably find out more about the other two as wellAlso, I've edited the link to my theory into my previous post so give it a look if you want.

That's a good theory. Maybe the Keyblades are man made but maybe there's a larger connection to Kingdom Hearts.

i say roxas can use 2 keyblades cuz he looks like ventus who was a keyblade wielder and he's also sora's heartless

remember how long it took bleach to reveal who made zanpaktos. its not even in the anime

I also think that the first man made keyblade was Master Xehanort's and that it was originally wielded by the Master of Masters.

The X-Blade was the original keyblade and all other keyblades were forged in it's image and handed down from person to person. My guess is that before the keyblade war there were blacksmiths or people similar that created keyblades for the war. I think that keyblades were just weapons originally but eventually became sentient as the years went on, how they became sentient is a mystery.

That's actually a very interesting theory. Also another good question: How and Why are Keyblades sentient?

Because they can chose their owners, in KH2 Jack Sparrow touched the Kingdom key and it returned to Sora. Riku turned evil so the Kingdom key chose Sora instead of him, they are self aware. If they weren't sentient people like Donald and Gooby could use them freely. Keyblade's chose people with strong hearts, so they aren't just any ordinary weapon.

All of these questions make me want KH3 more.

Yes, keyblades were made in the image of the original X-blade. As for the blacksmiths part, it can't be that simple. The Keyblade is a mysterious weapon with abilities that we have yet to discover. We did see just how powerful they are and could be thanks to the Keyblade Graveyard. They can't be forged that easily. They must choose the wielder if their heart has a certain piece and is worthy. It is passed down from master to student and so more hearts become worthy to wield it. Since the X-blade is the counterpart to Kingdom Hearts and the Keyblade is made in the image of that said blade, therefore, it is made in and with the essence of Kingdom Hearts and we all know just how mysterious Kingdom Hearts is. Don't get me wrong, the guess of how they originally forged them is not bad, but when has anything that involves the Keyblade be simple? That's why them being made by blacksmiths is too simple of a guess.

That's a good question.

I just realized that this is a good interview question for Nomura.

This has always been a very interesting question, and it's one of the many mysteries that surrounds the Kingdom Hearts series!  Like you stated, the X-Blade is the counterpart to Kingdom Hearts, but all other Keyblades are man-made, so it all just begs the question...who forges these Keyblades?

My guess would be some eternal being that forges the Keyblades according to Kingdom Hearts's assessment of a person's heart.  Once Kingdom Hearts deems a person worthy of wielding the Keyblade, my guess is that it analyzes the person's personality so that it can get an idea of what design to go for the person's Keyblade, therefore passing that data on to this alleged "Forger" who forges them!  But hey, that's just a theory of mine!  Since Kingdom Hearts is a sentient being after all, I'm sure it's capable of what I just said!

But then again, what do I know? :3

That would be neat if in KH3 they showed who forged Sora's keyblade.

Keyblades aren't "physically forged", they just form out of nowhere based on the wielder and their heart. Sometimes particularly special Keyblades pick their wielders, such as the Kingdom Key of the Realm of Light.

I thought it had something to do with the Key chains of how they get their appearance at one point in time, e.g. Oathkeeper; Kairi's good luck charm/wayfinder. I'm not sure though, but I remember that being an argument in the past. As for foraging them, I hope it is answered in KH3 since Kingdom Hearts will be explained more in detail.

I think this is one of those things like "How does the Emblem Heartless machine work?" and "How does Namine use her powers?" that Nomura purposefully left out an answer for because it's not really that important and we can guess for ourselves. Also, it's such a vast and varying universe with all types of powers and magic, so I think it's fine to presume that Keyblades were just forged with some type of magic that makes them do all the crazy things they do.
