I can't stand them. I always get lost for some reason. Wonderland in most of the kh games (except for re chain) is practically like a maze

Featured Replies

Honestly I enjoyed Wonderland, because it was interesting and fun. The worlds in the first game all had something unique to them, but after that they all just became long hallways with different coats of paint, and that's a really boring design, but those are just my thoughts.

Wonderland makes sense being confusing though, because of what it is, but worlds like Monstro are annoying because everything looks exactly the same, and so it's easy to get lost, and so I should say I'm kind of both ways about it, but since it's open world now I think we will be fine.

I remember my very first KH1 playthrough, especially in worlds like Wonderland and Deep Jungle i didnt know where to go because the game doesnt really tell you. But this applies only for KH1.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind if there was any sort of maze in any of the worlds in Kingdom Hearts III, because that'd provide the thrill of finding something new when you least expect it!  I liked Wonderland in the first Kingdom Hearts because of that!  Every area you went through lead to a totally different one, and I found that to be interesting, since one could find things or discover cool little gimmicks, ya know?

As long as the maze wouldn't be impossibly annoying to navigate through, I wouldn't mind it, ya know? :3

If that is a maze? Then what is Monstro?

But who doesn't love Wonderland in Days where you can see over the hedgemaze and jump way over it but invisible walls stop you?? That's the best part of the game. invisible walls and mazes are the best things in video games *sarcasm*

Given that most/all of the areas are going to be open, with no loading times (hopefully =P) I think a maze would actually be fun; it would be less tedious than, say, Wonderland from KH1.

I just don't want environments to be nothing more than eye candy. I want San Fransokyo to feel condensed, I want to feel that the Kingdom of Corona has a lot of space and wide areas, and for Mount Olympus, I want to feel as though I am playing in Greek mythology! If Kingdom Hearts III can evoke feelings like that then I'll be a happy Judy Hopps.

I really want more duengeon like worlds, with or without mazes, but just don't make it boring straightforward like TWTNW in KH2. The best example of a place like this is Cavern of Rememberance.

I should of said earlier, but with Monstro aside from everything looking the same and causing the player to get lost it just doesn't make sense. The entrance looks good, but after that you just get this crazy mess of colors.

I just don't understand how that is supposed to be the inside of a whale.

Ugh, Monstro was a complete nightmare ;-;

Wonderland wasn't confusing for me; just extremely annoying, I mean wasting potions etc on plants and having to go to Traverse Town to restock because of the TrickMaster ugh. Monstro was actually fun, and tbf it made sense to be lost since you were essentially playing hide and seek/ catch up with Riku. That saying it was way too bright and was an eyesore at times. My biggest concern would be a Jungle Book world ( not unlikely at all) being similar to Tarzan again. Whilst I understand a Jungle would need to be dense and be a struggle to explore, deep Jungle was awful, one miscalculated jump and it was an unwanted return to Hippo Lagoon again.

Also worth adding, if we get a Star Wars world and at this stage that can't be ruled out, the Death Star is most likely to be the new Monstro, and now that will be a task to explore. I'm all for a Death Star world ( well both if we have multiple visits) however it is an issue Square will have to explore, it could be fantastic ( a Yoko Imperial March for battle music springs to mind) or it could be the new Monstro meets The Grid from Tron :(

Monstro meets The Grid from Tron :(

Oh damn that's a scary thought. I enjoyed space paranoids, because it was bright and colorful, and while things did look similar you could still tell where you were, and it was also smooth and Tron looked much more natural next to Sora than other live action characters.

. The only thing I really liked about the grid is that you fight enemies from the movie instead of just dream eaters, but Port Royal(KH2), and the Enchanted Dominion(BBS) also do this.

Let us hope that nobody from square has seen this and has been inspired to create a Death Star world in the from of Monstro meets The Grid, I already have visions of spending hours walking around the Death Star not having a clue where the detention cells are in a bleak environment slowly losing my mind and cursing at the game.

Although I'm really scared of something like that appearing, I'm also somewhat curious as to how exactly it would turn out.

People really found the maze-like areas in the first game frustrating? I found them fun. Not great, but fun enough. It actually felt like I was exploring the worlds and using careful thinking to make my way through.

I hate it when a world is mostly just small areas and long halls filled with enemies. It's boring, it's monotonous. At least when it's done too much, like in a variety of worlds in KH2 and BBS. I think a challenging maze can make games more fun, and the frustration a nice part of the experience. Shin Megami Tensei games are all about frustrating mazes, and they REVEL in frustrating the player and really challenging them. Heck, the mazes in KH1 weren't even all that challenging. The only slightly annoying parts I can think of are the camera angles and a few wonky button commands when you needed to do something special. If polished better, then I think mazes would do wonders for KH3.

Not that I am asking for mazes. I don't care one or way or another, as long as the gameplay itself is fun. And it looks like KH3 might have some very fun, expansive worlds that are open for exploration and atmosphere. Still, if there were mazes, I'd welcome it.

I really enjoyed the mazes as well, and am glad the worlds in KH3 are going to be more open but I'm at the same time hoping they aren't too straight forward. KH2 and the later games got really annoying with that, and the only interesting world in KH2 was Twilight town because there were multiple pathways you could take to get around.

Monstro wasn't so much annoying because it was a maze, but because it didn't make sense for what it was, and every room looked exactly the same.
