Gamespot to be hit with millions in damages after leaking XV's release date?

Featured Replies

Woah did they really leak the release date? Did this just happen cus if so I got extremely lucky (was watching a movie online) If they did do that then gamespot now belongs to square enix lol

I'm still going to watch the live stream no matter what! The leak won't ruin this for me because there are other things going to be talked about and revealed other than the release date.

Couldn't keep quiet even with an NDA and Embargo going on, eh Gamespot?! Idiots...

Is, the Law a thing? Does it, actually exist? Like, Fair Use is constantly defied and now someone breaks an Embargo and NDA? I remember a time when such non-disclosure things were utterly feared by anyone that called themselves a respectable company, now Gamespot leaks the release date like it's nothing...WHY.

WHY EVEN.

It's a good thing I haven't been paying attention and have mostly been just keeping up to date with The Taken King April Update for Destiny, some cool stuff is coming for that game, so I haven't been spoiled, but for those who have...I'm sorry for you and I hope this hasn't ruined anything for you. :(

As for you, Gamespot...YOU...just...SCREW YOU. I hope Square-Enix makes you reel after this is over, you--syoutjjdd....dgdkgdgjsDJGHDJGJGFDDSJGH--

FIRETRUCK YOU GAMESPOT! I can only imagine how great it would've to learn about the demo's release date through the event... Now that I think about it, they probably saved me a heart attack. Still, FIRETRUCK YOU GAMESPOT!

I won't believe it until it comes from SQEX's mouths. Remember the rumor about the release date? It was also said to be the same day Gamespot here claims it to be. I don't believe it until I see it. Only then will I believe.

Edit: I've checked how much the fine in euros is to U.S dollars. Basically, Gamespot will be hit with a $280000-1100000 fine. I don't think that will damage the site financially unless they are not a multimillion dollar website and can't afford that.

I think they should've realized that prematurely offering the release date was not going to receive a positive response from fans . . . .  They would be killing the hype, not to mention I doubt that they really want to pay the fine.  I mean, I can't imagine it would be worth it, y'know?

Even still, I apologize to all those who were affected by this, if it were indeed a genuine release date.  There may be more than we're aware of, however, or at least I hope so.

great we finally have a release date. it's about time.

thanks for taking one for the team, GS

Okay, I'm not gonna even watch the video cuz I don't want to be spoiled on the release date! xD  I mean sure, I might not have followed the game's development like other Final Fantasy fans have, but I'm still very excited for this game, and I want to be surprised when I see the trailer reveal the release date!  So yeah, not gonna click on the video! X3

But yeah, Gamespot's in trouble now! :O

Inb4 FFXV get's 10/10 on Gamespot.

The release date had been leaked weeks beforehand, and there wasn't nearly as much complaining then...lol
