What is the most annoying/distracting thing when seeing a film at a cinema?

With the possibility of texting being allowed in AMC cinemas, we thought we'd see is the most annoying/distracting thing at a cinema!

Getting kicked by an overly enthusiastic kid (or annoying adult) is probably the only thing I dislike about a movie theater, excepting at some theaters where the tall person in front of you keeps interfering with your visibility of the screen. That gets pretty annoying.

Oh man, a ton of these drive me insane, but the one that annoys me the most is when kids start crying or screaming!  A few weeks ago, my brother and I went to see Zootopia, and about halfway through, a baby started crying loudly.  Now, once the baby started crying, the father took them out, but then he brought them back about five minutes later!  Then, surprise surprise, the baby started crying again, and the father kept doing the same thing throughout the rest of the movie!

Seriously, children under five should not be brought to the movies; they're too young to even remember seeing the movie when they get older, and they're usually too loud and can't sit still.  Especially babies; they don't care about what they're watching and are way too young to even know what's going on or remember the movie.  Plus, the dark, lots of people, and the loud noises coming from the movie probably scares the little guys, so don't bring them you selfish jerks!

All of the above? I really can't complain as I'm guilty of some of these, but the absolute worst for me is my seat being kicked. For some reason, the movement triggers my anxiety attacks and it's just awful. Plus I've had a seat-kicker the past seven or so moves I've seen. I guess I just have horrible luck.

I would have to say the most distracting thing when watching a movie is the whining from children and babies. I feel kind of bad when the parents of the children have to leave to calm them. They have to miss out on some of the movie! Just the thought can distract me, let alone the whining itself. I guess it's a small sacrifice to make when you're a parent/guardian. :(

Rock on!

I've never suffered from any of these problems, but that's probably because I don't go to see a film as soon as it's released or it's probably because cinemas in Australia just don't get annoying visitors. So the most annoying thing would be the ads for me.

I don't go to the movies that much even though I want to go to a lot of them, the only thing I could think of that annoyed me was when I saw High School Musical 3 when I was super young and these group of people were on their phones in the front (I was in the far back). Near the beginning the kids were taking photos of each other and the parent wouldn't stop being on their phone >~<. At least it wasn't the entire time at the movie or I was too into the movie

it's a tie between cell phone lights in a sea of darkness and people talking.

maybe people talking is more annoying, especially at a quiet part. if someone wants to talk or use their phone then as long as they're far away from me where i can't really be bothered by it then i'm ok.

I would whine about bringing babies to a an Action or Horror film, but I'll complain about something different... I can't stand people who want to sit in the same row as you, extremely close by you, when the Theatre is nearly empty and they can pick any spot they want, especially annoying when it's large parties that come in sometime after getting all their snacks and crap and are like "can you scoot down", how 'bout, you come here earlier like I did person. Me and my mom were just talking about that like a month ago too, lol. Another thing that grinds my gears, are the Ushers, they want to pop in the theatre like 2-3 times and I just find it annoying with a rave guys shadow walking across the entire seating area in my FOV. Then there's people who want to set there feet on a top of the chair besides you and it's pretty weird, if you ask me, the only times I find it right to do, is when you're sitting right in the middle, where the stroller/disabled area is, they normally have a bar separating from the crappy seats, perfect for your feet, a nice plus when the seats on the top are all taken.

...really didn't plan to make it this long though....

I've never actually had most of these things be problematic for me.  Like I've been to a cinema where a child's started to fuss, and their parents take them out the door or walk them up and down to settle them.  Also haven't been in one that had people talking during it.  For my own experience the worst parts would really be when you're in a particularly popular movie and people yell at it, like they're trying to talk to the actors, and when a human giraffe sits directly in front of me.  There was a time when I was like 13 and couldn't see a quarter of the movie screen I paid for because of that.  I can't help it that I'm vertically challenged.

When the film itself is having technical difficulties and they either don't address it or they stop the whole thing just to get it working right again. This literally happened when me and my Boy Scout troop were watching Avatar in 3D, it kept getting messed up and all blurry and out of focus. xP

I didn't pick any of the other options tho cause I'm usually the one doing at least half of those most of the time, lol. X)"""

I absolutely hate people talking during a film.

Kids are also incredibly annoying when they cannot sit still. I honestly think kids under a certain age shouldn't be allowed go to the cinema. I know it ruins it for other more well-behaved kids, but I hate not being able to go to the cinema during the day (especially when seeing more family friendly films) because I know there are going to be lots of kids in there. Like last night, I went to see The Jungle Book at 9pm to avoid parents and kids. Likewise with Zootropolis a few weeks back.

I know when I was a kid I never acted this way, I loved going to see films and I'd sit still and actually watch it.

The kids argument doesn't just apply to the cinema though, I saw a live-concert event for Fantasia and it was filled to the brim with kids that kept talking and given the price of the tickets it absolutely ruined my experience.

As for the chair kicking one it doesn't happen often, but I always tell the person behind to stop kicking it. They usually get the message.

I am disgustingly passive about my entertainment so to be completely honest I'd probably just ignore all of them with little bother, unless to say they're being extremely obnoxious etc, so I voted other

All of these can be annoying at some point.  I picked the most annoying one for me: people squeezing by to use the bathroom mid-way through the film.  Use the bathroom before entering the theatre, please.
