CPU: 8 Jaguar cores at 2.1Ghz

GPU: Improved AMD GCN 36CUs at 911Mhz

RAM: 8GB GDDR5 218Gb/s

 

The original PS4 and PS4 NEO will co-exist. They will share PSN, connect to the same online communities, offer the same user experience, and retain purchases. There will be NO Neo only games; Sony will give developers the option to create a NEO mode which allows games to take advantage of the PS4 NEO's upgraded specs. Sony will NOT allow developers to offer incentives for using NEO mode 

 

Developers can choose to add NEO mode to previously released titles via patch at their own discretion.

 

There are no plans for a trade in program at the moment however gamestop will most likely do one like they did with the PSvita and nintendo 3DS

 

 

Personally, i think this is a good idea. If FFXV has the potential to run at 60FPS and Square Enix takes advantage of the new PS4's hardware im sold.

No, it doesn't. They're having trouble maintaining 30 and they only have six months to reach their self-stated goal of a stable 30. FFXV will never run at 60FPS

It's not the PS4 NEO that's the problem, it's the game. Like I said, it's having trouble maintaining 30. How much stress do you think trying to push it to 60 would put on it? The game would probably crash.

My biggest worry with the new PS4.5 deal was whether or not it would make the old PS4 obsolete or not, so its good to see that they plan to make this upgrade an optional one like the New 3DS and not something mandatory. So my plans to buy a regular PS4 down the line are still in tact.

Nope, it's also the resolution and power of the console that are different as well. Resolution being the biggest difference because that's the main reason the console is more powerful.

Final Fantasy XV will not run at 60FPS on the PS4.5

The CPU is still a crappy Jaguar processor just slightly overclocked, so it's going to hold back the AMD Polaris(GCN 4.0) GPU(That is if it is polaris(likely), and the RAM is shared between the CPU and GPU, at best FFXV is going to run at a locked 30FPS, probably could reach 40FPS unless they really dumb down the settings

Yeah, but the 4.5 is kinda useless without a 4K TV. Those things are expensive.

So, it seems that 4.5 is actually a real thing!  I'm relieved that it won't be ruining anything for us normal PS4 owners!  The biggest fear I had about this was that 2.8 and Kingdom Hearts III would only be for 4.5, and would make my purchase of a PS4 have been for nothing, ya know?  But now that I know that the 4.5 PS4 will not bring that deadly fate upon us, I can rest easy!

Good to know I can just skip on this. I'll pick up a normal PS4, maybe wait to see if it gets a price cut before I do so. None of these features appeal to me in the slightest.
