Hey there everyone, how's it going?  So then, word of the Orlando massacre has reached my ears, and upon hearing the news just a few minutes ago, the reason this all happened is because the murderer hated homosexual people?  Really?  Like, I mean, seriously!?  That's messed up!

 

Like, okay, there's people that don't like homosexuals or any people from the LGBT community, but that doesn't mean you have to go so far as to kill said people just because you dislike them!  Ya know, this just goes to show how narrow minded some people can be, ya know? In this world, people have different tastes.  Is it really so bad to be different?  Like, take me for instance!  I respect people from the LGBT community, and I would never do anything to hurt their feelings, ya know?  I have a few friends who are gay, and I get along with them fine, as long as they don't get all touchy feely with me, ya know?  That's where I draw the line!  But other than that, I socialize with them just as fine as I do with any person!

 

So why then?  Why must people be so savage and cruel?  If a man likes a man, or a woman likes a woman, who are you to judge them? You aren't a person who gets to deal out judgment!  But, there will always be people that take things too far.  I tell you, the world we live in is messed up sometimes, and I just really wish that people would get along, ya know?  But, we live in an imperfect world, so I guess that people respecting each other is too much to ask, huh?

 

But anyways, my sincere condolences go to all the people who lost their loved ones in this massacre.  Although I haven't experienced their pain, my heart goes to them, and I hope they can be able to push through this.  May God give them strength!

So true, and it's only gonna get worse. People are getting more and more dangerous everyday, and it's sad.

It is awful. I mean, I don't necessarily agree with the homosexual lifestyle. HOWEVER, killing a certain group just because you don't like the way they live is not okay. In the religion of Islam, one thing that is stressed upon is tolerance. Tolerance of everything. People are going to have different beliefs to you in this world, it's just how it is. Does that mean I go bash their beliefs just because they're different? No! Does it mean I can massacre people just because of their sexual orientation? Certainly not! As a Muslim, and as a human, I tolerate these sorts of things. Having your own opinion is fair enough. But killing? Nope, not on.

You wanna know why some are so cruel?

 

I think it's because they don't have enough love and prefer to take their despair on others, then they try to justify it. But it's a foolish way to make themselves feel better. Of course, not all killers do it for that reason. Some do it because they were forced to, because it's their job or because of necessity. There are probably many variables that factor into a reason for their cruelty, but this is just what I think.

 

Some shouldn't make extreme decisions such as this one, but instead they act impulsively and irrationally. Why is it so hard to accept the differences between you and others and let them live their life instead of stupidly trying to enforce your beliefs onto the other and tell them that it's better, even though you're lying?

 

News like this make me wanna knock some sense into the instigator, or punch someone.

The Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) claimed responsibility for the mass shooting attack in an Orlando gay club on Sunday that left more than 50 people dead.

“The attack that targeted a nightclub for homosexuals in Orlando, Florida and that left more than 100 dead and wounded was carried out by an Islamic State fighter,” the group said in a report on its official Amaq news agency. The message was attributed to an unnamed “source” and distributed over the Telegram messaging app on Sunday afternoon.

The claim comes after law enforcement officials quoted by multiple news organizations, including NBC News and the New York Times said the suspected shooter, Omar Mateen, called 911 before the attack in order to swear his allegiance to ISIS. Speaking at a news conference in Orlando on Tuesday afternoon, an FBI official confirmed that Mateen had made a call to 911, but did not indicate the content of the call. A security company, G4S, said Sunday that Mateen had been employed there since 2007, adding that it was “shocked and saddened” by the shooting. “We are cooperating fully with all law enforcement authorities,” the company said.

The claims underline a pattern in which ISIS seeks to inspire sympathizers to carry out attacks—with or without operational support from the group—and then claims responsibility for the carnage after the fact. Declarations of allegiance to ISIS and its leader Abu Bakr Baghdadi have been a hallmark of past attacks by jihadist sympathizers, including the San Bernardino shooting in December. One of the two shooters in the Garland, Texas shooting in May 2015, indicated support for ISIS in a post on Twitter just before the attack.

The mass shooting at the Pulse nightclub on Sunday came weeks after a top ISIS official issued a call for attacks throughout the world during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, which began on June 6.

In an audio recording released on May 22, ISIS spokesman Abu Muhammad al-Adnani called for “a month of calamity everywhere for the non-believers,” saying his appeal was “especially for the fighters and supporters of the caliphate in Europe and America.”

In the recording attributed to Adnani, he specifically focused on ISIS supporters who are no longer able to reach ISIS-held territory in Iraq and Syria and join the so-called caliphate. But militant groups including both ISIS and al-Qaeda have used Ramadan as a pretext to ramp up attacks and gain attention. A recent report from the Washington-based Institute for the Study of War argues that ISIS is seeking to use Ramadan “as an occasion to reorient its strategy” with attacks both in its core arena of operations in Iraq and Syria and abroad.

“This year, ISIS will likely take action to reverse serious losses in Iraq and Syria while expanding its attacks against the non-Muslim world in an attempt to spark an apocalyptic total war,” the report states.

Statements by government officials have also fueled speculation that the Orlando shooting could have been carried out in connection with or out of sympathy for ISIS.

At a news conference in Orlando, FBI assistant special agent in charge Ron Hopper confirmed that the alleged shooter, Omar Mateen, 29, had been investigated by federal authorities over possible militant ties in the 2013 and 2014, but that the investigations had been inconclusive.

Earlier on Sunday, Rep. Adam Schiff of California, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, told CNN that security officials had informed him that him that the shooter had proclaimed his allegiance to ISIS. “What I’ve heard from the Department of Homeland Security this morning is that, according to local police, he made a pledge of allegiance to ISIL,” he said . Speaking from the White House on Sunday afternoon, President Obama said the shooting was being investigated as an act of terrorism. “This was an act of terror and an act of hate,” he said.

Other evidence about the alleged shooter, Omar Mateen, also points to personal bigotry as a possible motivation. In an interview with NBC, Mateen’s father said that Mateen “got very angry” after he saw two men kissing in public. “This had nothing to do with religion,” said the father, Mir Seddique. In an interview with the Washington Post, the suspect’s ex-wife said Mateen was abusive, mentally unstable, and not overly religious. “He was not a stable person,” the ex-wife is quoted as saying.

In addition to its record of mass violence toward women, religious minorities, other Muslims, and civilians everywhere, ISIS has a history of brutality toward people accused of homosexuality. Among many other restrictions on civilian life, the jihadists’ ultraconservative penal code criminalizes sodomy, a law it has been known to enforce in extreme fashion. In January 2015, the group published graphic images appearing to show ISIS officers executing men accused of sodomy by shoving them off a high-rise building in northern Iraq.

I don't get why people say ''I don't agree with their choices'' , alot of them live in the same way as a straight couple. Maybe you say that because you have literally no idea and only know the stereotypes. 

 

Just because someone is gay, lesbian or bisexual, does not mean they sleep around or would ''touch you''. Why do people think that?! As if gay people don't understand personal space? I'm sick of hearing it. Just because I am bisexual does not mean I want to touch you or everyone! It does not mean I find you attractive.

 

There are feminine straight people. There are straight people who like crossplaying or crossdressing. And no cross-dressing does not have to be some sexual thing.

 

You can see examples of what I mean in Taiwan, Korea and Japan. Some straight couples wear lolita/fairy kei etc clothes together. This does not instantly mean they are gay, It can just be a hobby. In a lot of Japanese visual kei bands there are crossdressing members. Liking these things is not a requirement for being gay and if you do like them there's nothing wrong with that. It's not different from liking anything alternative.

 

Likewise, alot of gay people ''talk'' and ''act'' exactly the same as straight people. There are manly gay men and feminine lesbians. 

 

And then there's being transgender which is something else entirely. When they scanned the brain of a woman and transgender woman, they found they were essentially identical, i.e the transgender person did not have a male brain despite being born male. That's not all there is to it of course but it's enough for me to understand that they are like everyone else. Heck, it's not much different to having a disability, not that it is one because nobody has even studied it that much, but people treat those with disabilities with less discrimination, generally speaking.

 

Is it because of how they have sex? Because that is a stupid thing to get hung up on and it's not even your business. 

 

Is it because of your religion? Because that is..wow that is horrible. I respect others religions but seriously? Just because you live your life by a religion does not mean everyone has to.

 

Is it because you think it is somehow unnatural? Surprise, it's actually very natural. Besides science doesn't actually argue with religion as much as people think it does except when it comes to what humans actually are, which I wish people could just accept we're a part of nature and get over it. The big bang theory or evolution doesn't even disprove god because nobody knows what happened before the big bang, and we probably never will, maybe it was a god that created those processes. And there are scientists who are muslims or christians and believe just that. Is respect if you don't want to think like that, though. but it does make conversations about, say, climate change, annoying to have. also no I'm not an atheist

 

Seriously, I feel like if anyone dares to break from the mould or live in a different way, it's all ''oh nou I can't agree with that, how dare you not live a traditional life style like me''. They are not doing anything wrong yet you talk like they are. 

 

This is just my view, you won't change it, I won't change yours. But I want to share it anyway. I want a world were people don't have to live in fear just for being different.

Yeah, even though nowadays the world is more open minded, there are still people living with a previous century train of thought, ya know?  The world operates how it operates, and just because there are people who like people of the same sex doesn't mean that they should be mistreated or looked down upon, ya know?  I find that to be very deplorable, especially when it comes to religious groups!  It shouldn't matter if a person is gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender!  If they want to seek God, the people in church don't have the right to reject them, ya know?  God loves everyone, so gay people shouldn't be treated differently because of the way they live!

 

But, while you and I may think about this in this matter, like I said, there will always be people that disagree with how the world works.  It's saddening, really.

We can't pretend that radical Islam isn't the problem here, because sadly it is. So we shouldn't beat around the bush and try to ignore the fact this guy was a Muslim.  There are verses in the Qur'an that do promote love, tolerance and peace, but there are also a verses that don't promote very good things and can be taken out of context to incite violence amongst other things. But the book was written a long time ago so some things are outdated. We can't blame Muslims for the bad things in the Qu'ran though, it's not their fault that some of the stuff is bad.

 

Him being able to access a gun is even worse when you realise that the shooter was under investigation by the FBI.

 

So we have 2 problems

Radical Islam

It's too easy to get a gun in the USA in some states

 

Here's 2 solutions;

 

1. Muslims should do more to prevent radicalisation within their own communities. I'm sure some are already trying to do so.

2.Stricter gun laws; raise the price of ammo and guns, create advertisements that put people off of buying guns (Just like we do with smoking cigarettes in the UK), control who can buy guns and make it very difficult to buy ammo and guns.

 

It's going to take a while though, the last 20 years have seen a lot more Muslims coming to the West, so families are still trying to integrate whilst maintaing their religious beliefs. Some people from older generations are reluctant to integrate to the ways of the western world but some younger Muslims from what I've seen have integrated well.

However some are becoming radicalised, from my knowledge and own personal opinion it's because of a few things;

 

Western interference in the Middle East, we've destroyed places like Syria and brought so much suffering. For some Muslims, the places we've destroyed are their homelands or the homelands of their ancestors and family members.

Attitudes towards Islam, constant media propaganda that makes people dislike Muslims. This isolates Muslims imo.

 

^Both these things make Muslims easy targets for radicalisation. It's very sad to see how some Muslims get treated in the USA and the UK by the people and by the media.

 

Of course I'm not justifying what ISIS or any other group do, I'm just saying that there are reasons behind radicalisation. If we know those reasons, we can prevent people from being radicalised again.

Yeah!  It's just like Gabriel Iglesias, a comedian, talked about in one of his videos!  He talked about a trip he made to Saudi Arabia for a show there, and he was panicking because he thought he was gonna be jumped by a terrorist, but he found that the people over at Saudi Arabia were some of the most humblest people he had met!  You see, just because a person is a certain nationality that's done some bad things in the distant past, that doesn't mean that the person or people are like that by default, ya know?  It's like judging a book by its cover before anything else, ya know?

 

While we shouldn't treat Muslims like crap because not all of them are the same, we do have to be wary about the ones who go to extremes like with what happened in Orlando.  It's just like everything in life!  There's the good and the bad!  Muslims have done bad things, but hey, we in the US aren't saints either.  Everyone's got blood on their hands, ya know?

 

But yeah, I just hope that the families of the victims are able to push through this ordeal!

In this world, people have different tastes.  Is it really so bad to be different?  Like, take me for instance!  I respect people from the LGBT community, and I would never do anything to hurt their feelings, ya know?  I have a few friends who are gay, and I get along with them fine, as long as they don't get all touchy feely with me, ya know?  That's where I draw the line!  But other than that, I socialize with them just as fine as I do with any person!

 

So why then?  Why must people be so savage and cruel?  If a man likes a man, or a woman likes a woman, who are you to judge them? You aren't a person who gets to deal out judgment!  But, there will always be people that take things too far.  I tell you, the world we live in is messed up sometimes, and I just really wish that people would get along, ya know?  But, we live in an imperfect world, so I guess that people respecting each other is too much to ask, huh?

 

But anyways, my sincere condolences go to all the people who lost their loved ones in this massacre.  Although I haven't experienced their pain, my heart goes to them, and I hope they can be able to push through this.  May God give them strength!
