Have you ever wondered why it rains in the worst possible moment?  Does it ever feel like someone is watching you?  Why are you really so scared of the dark, when there is almost always nothing there?

 

The truth is, there are explanations to all of these things, only we as humans lack the knowledge of them.

 

Far above us in the medieval era dwells a kingdom--no, a world--filled with whimsy, fantasy and phenomena of your wildest dreams.  The world dwells above the clouds, filled with rich stone walls, cobblestone homes, water fountains aplenty, and the palaces whose splendor rivals even that of the great King Alderon down below in the human world.  This world is beautiful, massive, and rich.

 

But who could live in this world, you are probably asking yourself, if this happened long, long ago back in the age of medieval living?  If there are no planes, how could people reach this magnificent place?  And if humans did not know of this world, then what could possibly live there?  There is only one simple explanation, and that explanation is the very reality of what lives there: fey.

 

Fey, all sorts of fey.  Predominately fairies, though they are not your average fairy that you read about in a bedtime story.  They are in every sense of the word human, only they are gifted with three things that the mere human does not possess: magic, immortality, and flight.  The range of fey that dwell in the Overworld vary, from fairies, imps, minotaurs, eidolons, vampires, and just about any mythical race.  While it would seem they have a paradise, it may be surprising that they desire something much, much more, more expansive such as the world below.

 

Which has brought them into the disaster that has befallen them today.

 

A young fey, perhaps three hundred years old, ventured into the forbidden world below, sneaking past security with his two friends.  He met many humans, many curious, some kind, and others . . . more power-thirsty than anything.  A dreadful fate befell the three friends: one had been kept by the human King Alderon for his own dark experimental purposes, another died while trying to save him, and the last made it home, but was punished so severely he'd wished that he'd died.  While the majority of the underworld do not know of the existence of the Fey kingdom, King Alderon does, and he's attempting to reign supreme over all the kingdoms of his world.  In doing so he plans to use the one weapon he doesn't have and is known as a forgotten art: magic.  Yes, magic existed within these young fey, and he would stop at nothing to obtain these magics for his own purposes, even if it meant draining the poor fey dry of their magic, killing them in the process of transferring this magic into their own warriors.

 

You have a choice: to be human, or be a member of the mythical race of the Overworld preparing for the greatest of wars between worlds.  If you are a human you wouldn't know anything about fey, unless you serve directly under King Alderon and know of his plans.  If you are of the Overworld you have never been to the main world, but rather have only heard stories and probably yearn to see what it is like.  Travel between the worlds is forbidden for fey, to prevent the very tragedy that the young boy had created.  You may choose most any race for an Overworld dweller, though if I feel it isn't a good fit or is over-powered I may decline the race.

 

The rules consist of:

 

1.) No god-modding.

2.) No auto-hitting or mass slaughter.  This means if you are battling someone don't make your hit automatically meet its target, but rather have it aimed at a player and they choose whether the attack hits or misses.  No mass slaughter means don't kill off a bunch of NPCs without permission.

3.) Go with the plot, and please choose a character that fits well with the world and setting.

4.) Original characters only.  If you would like to use a canon character please modify them until they are your own creation, and rather inspired by a canon character.

5.) When in a group of other people, please post after everyone in your group has posted.  I don't want anyone to fall too far behind.

6.) Keep everything PG-13, please.

7.) Romance is permitted, but again please remember rating restrictions.

8.) Please don't have invincible characters.  While you get to choose whether your character is hit by an attack, don't make them avoid everything or else it seems like god-modding.

9.) Don't be over-powered.

10.) All KH13 rules apply.

11.) This is going to be a heavy world-building roleplay, that will rely heavily on plot and character interaction.  I intend to keep this roleplay going for a considerable length of time, though it may not be entirely fast to update.  Having said that, please try to post at least once every two weeks, but if you are going to be away please let me know and we will make arrangements for your characters.  Should you remain absent for an extended length of time, I reserve the right to utilize your characters as I deem fit for the RP's progression.

That would be very interesting, actually.  Hmm . . . which sibling would take it the hardest to lose the other?  Perhaps Aurion?

 

That would be Aura. She is used to have Aurion at her side, nagging her about the silliest things and always trying to protect her. Aurion's death would hurt her the most because the voice of her older brother would be gone and she would have to recognize that he always though about her well being first instead of his.

 

Aurion would suffer too, but in his case it would be because he was unable to protect his little sister, he promised little Aura that he was going to be at her side always, making sure that she was safe, to make sure that she was happy and ready to live her life to the fullest.

 

I have both scenes playing in my head right now, and it hurts a little to think about the outcome of the war. The death of one of them was always my plan and I will make it happen, one way or the other.

Depending on what happens or not. Most of the liutenants of the black knights ( Alex, Ronan and Lina). Will die. And Draksis may die as well.  Worst case scenario, the entire black knight division will be GONE.

 

And depending on what happens to Shiva in the war, Maxis will die and a new entity will be born. 

 

I still have plans for Henry and some others. Alicia I am not exactly sure if I should have her take part in though. Albeit it would be amazing to her and Alastor on opposite sides.

 

 

 

Oh, good!  I'm glad to hear that those numbers work well for what you had in mind.  As for Alastor, I think you were considering him being a mini-boss of sorts, right?  I thought that would grant him a little extra power, plus if he sees his dear daughter in danger he could go full-on Berserk Daddy. : P

He would murder everyone. 

 

I did make Alastor thinking of him more like a miniboss, indeed.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions. : ) I've taken them all into account and have worked out the official rules and guidelines for the war. I've chosen to take Scrap's suggestion of the battle rating in mind and will be implementing that through the course of the war. Please note that just because your number may not be as high as others doesn't mean that you're not necessarily as strong, but, rather, you may not be as capable of taking on as many characters. I feel that these numbers are rather fair and don't really want to make many changes, but if you feel that you were really given an inaccurate rating for your character let me know and I will consider changing it.

 

The war will begin either Friday or Sunday with an intro post from me, and in that post you will find your battle formations. I'll talk more about battle formations in the rules as well as in the war post, but if you have questions just let me know.

 

Also, if your character says "not participating" beside their name, it is because they are either in the world below, have declared they aren't going to be involved, I assumed they aren't going to be (mostly Bherna, but let me know if I'm wrong Endless and I'll give her a rating), or they have been inactive. I also might've given a character a rating that won't be involved in the war, and if that is so I greatly apologize. Just let me know and I'll make the necessary change.

 

Lastly, these battle ratings are only for the war and determining how many players you can fight; they don't apply outside of the war.

Exclusive Battle Rules

• No killing off characters without the permission of the player controlling that character.
• No controlling other people’s characters.
• No auto hits
• Please keep battle posts within 1-2 reasonably sized paragraphs, with no more than roughly 250-500 words, and a minimum of five sentences. Short posts are key to quicker responses.
• The player that you engage in combat has 72 hours to respond with a counter-attack. If the player doesn’t respond within that time frame, that player will sustain an injury and that battle will be forfeit.
• Please be reasonable in sustaining damage. This is war, where people will be injured, retreat, and, yes, die. Some characters will likely not make it through the war. Invincibility will only increase the duration of battle and make it less enjoyable for everyone. There will be medics on either side of the battlefield, or at least until they are eliminated. Once damaged to a certain extent, you will have the option of attempting a retreat or risk being killed by your opponent. I will trust everyone’s judgment on when to call it quits, but if I see a character avoiding too much or taking too much damage without being healed/dying, I will call it out and they may not receive the same freedom throughout the rest of the war with their character(s). Please don’t abuse this rule.
• Battle formation has been determined and will be placed in flanks. You will have a starting point and objective in your position. You will have the option of moving from your position, but be wary that this may leave your flank vulnerable and cause complications for your allies. A shortage on one flank may lead to harm.
• Blood and some gore is still permitted, though please keep the rating at PG-13 for the sake of KH13.
• Please follow the battle rating system provided above. This will determine how many characters that you can take on in a fight at a time based on your abilities in combat.

Bherna won't be participating, although she will appear again later in the RP. I'll have Dawson ally with Kilkes Seres after a quick reunion with Jynn.

Why, indeed he is! : P  I can't (or, actually, I can) believe that I forgot to put a rating for him.  Fixed that.

I've been considering what I'm going to do with my characters, too, and I know there will be at least some deaths.  Probably 3 or so, but it also depends how things play out.  I'm especially interested in seeing the tragic battle and emotions conveyed between Helios and Ren for being on opposing sides, and am half-wondering if that would be the death of the dragonic scholar (though I hate to part with Ren--he's one of my favorites).

I very much like this rating system! And I'm looking forward to the War. Personal opinions wise, I'm surprised by Nergal's Rating actually, though Soren's makes a lot of sense. Soren Monroe is a heavy hitter with powerful flame attacks but his strongest require much wind-up and while his Demonic Form gives him Magma Blood and Rock Skin, he's still doesn't compare to the Living Armours, Queen Shiva or Nergal.

 

Speaking of which, I am very pleased that Maxis and Meksis are equals.

 

By the way, if Ren dies in battle, you may have to up Soren to a 30 Rating or more. Because he will be vengeful and brimming with a burning fury. He'll make Asura look like the nicest person on Earth!

Sometimes I wonder about what goes on inside the interviews with Sean Bean when trying to recruit him as a character in a movie, game, or play.

 

"So we have looked into your work and think you will be a great fit for this character.  He's smooth, charismatic, is certain of himself, and dies somewhere within the movie."

"I'll take it.  You had me sold when you said he dies sometime in the movie."

"Perfect!  We thought you might.  We printed out a contract for you in advance."

 

And no worries; not all of my cast will die.  =P  I was being dramatic, though I am fairly certain Sean Bean would make an excellent Infiltrator for the most part.

Okay, guys; this is tentatively what we're looking at in terms of battle formations.  The strategy may vary slightly depending on what I hear from Vaude and Kunivas, but this should be what each group looks like, whom they will consist of, and whom you will face off against:

 

I tried to balance out each group, though there are obviously going to be a few that are going to be a little tougher to beat.  There will also be additional NPCs on each team, as well as healers in the back.  I highlighted the guys in red that I wasn't sure if they would be participating or not.  If they are, they would be in the listed group.

My concern in putting those three together in one of the three flanks is that they would be overpowered in comparison to all of the others.  I tried to balance out the flanks to the best of my ability, so that (hopefully) each group would have a fair fight.

 

What we could do is this: place Alastor, Henry, and Rabs in one flank of their own, apart from the three flanks.  They can move between the center and right flanks (the ones with Shiva and Maxis respectfully), and can take on both.  Should they get pushed back into Mystras' other three flanks, however, they would have to join the groups that they're listed in, thus being broken up.

Let me say that his proposition would be something Jynn would most likely not agree upon:  "Turn your back on Shiva now and live on in peace.  No judgement will befall you, not mine nor even your mother's.  If not, I cannot assure there will be no consequences."  For all of Raiden's good intentions, the lack of shared knowledge would spurn every one of them.

I will admit that the confrontation between Raiden and Jynn is one that I'm greatly looking forward to, and it is partially why I put them in flanks opposite each other.  I do wonder how things will go down between them, what with Raiden having made a promise to Shiva to protect their son, while Jynn has no idea that Raiden is his father yet.  I wonder if it will come up on the battlefield?  That would get awfully emotional. : P
