Something interesting I noticed, in 1.5, they cropped the top and bottom of the screen during cutscenes in order to achieve widescreen, its not like that here. If you pay attention to the sides, they actually extended the sides outwards to give a bigger view during the cutscenes. That is good because some cutscenes came out really choppy and bad looking in 1.5 because of the screen cropping.

Why do the cutscenees have subtitles in the first place?

Wouldn't it be easier to just get rid of them or just leave the option to switch them off like 3D did?

I mean, what's the point?

It's not like you would want to keep the audio down when playing at home compared to portable games.

And if you play a game IN ENGLISH with ENGLISH screen texts and explanations and ENGLISH voice acting, WHY would you need ENGLISH subtitles?

I do understand they include it in languages that are not dubbed...

And if you miss a part, you can rematch the scene from theater mode anyway...

My point is, they could have saved so much time and effort just deleting the subtitles instead of bothering even upgrading the text to a new HD font.

Which cutscenes? The pre-rendered ones?

KH3D only had that feature because the 3D made them look weird. But honestly I have no idea why Nomura forces them. FF games do not.

Uhhh, you realize that not everyone who plays video games can hear, right? Deaf people play too. I mean I wouldn't mind having an option to turn them off, but they shouldn't be taken out entirely.

I'm not talking about removing subtitles. Lol. I'm talking about them having the option to turn them on/off like FF games have since X in 2001.

2 in particular caught my eye. First, the one with Hades when you leave after getting Sonic Blade from Cloud. When Sora and co leave the world, the transition into the cutscene was amazing on PS2 but in 1.5, it looks like trash. The other is the Cloud and Sephiroth cutscene which is a massive shame. When it goes into the text dialogue, the screen jerks back and forth to adjust itself. In the original, the black bars on the top and left simply moved in and out.

During the first part of the video the comparison is between the regular version of Kingdom Hearts 2 and the HD-Remaster of Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix. You can tell by the costumes changing appearance :P

The top and bottom black bars in the PS2 version actually were hiding part of the picture. We uncovered them in our archives:

That's because they're comparing the remasters to the English versions.

Wow they changed the entire costume of Sora, Donald and Goofy for Halloween Town! :O I liked the old Donald's costume but the new one isn't bad bad either. Overall the game looks amazing with the HD on! Especially I got impressed when they compared the Birth by Sleep part. :D

They changed the outfits in the reissue.

It makes sense since it's for an English audience. But the original post says it's a comparison between the original Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix and the HD-Remaster of it. I was just surprised is all :P

Yeah, just a mistake on our part, it's been fixed.

You mean the Final Mix version? If so, well I never really played the Final Mix version so this was a surprise for me. xD

The FM version is a reissue, so yes.

I really am liking the look of Birth By Sleep.

It goes to show that what someone posted time ago, a comparison video where the HD 2.5 ReMIX version was darker than the original instead of brighter, was fake xD

Looks a little better than 1.5 but hopefully (and kinda not hopefully) it is as not as badly programmed as 1.5 was. Also, why show original KH2 footage and not 2FM footage? They are acting like 2FM is brand new to 2.5.

That was fan-captured footage. So of course.

Because the FM version was exclusive to Japan. Wouldn't be a good comparison.

I know it was exclusive to JP but really? Just taking advantage of the people that are unaware of FM and lying to their face. Just seems wrong.

Did you make this DC?

We got this from Square Enix.

I still see nothing wrong with comparing to the version people ACTUALLY played.
