Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ has finally released in Japan for Android, and is available to see on the Google Play Store. Unfortunately however, this listing is region locked and you won't be able to download the new game this way unless you live in Japan. Not to worry, though – here are some instructions for those of you outside of Japan!

 

  1. Enable installing APKs (Android app install files) from outside of the Google Play Store. To do this, go to the "Settings" app, scroll down to "Security", and tick "Unknown sources". Click OK on the popup alert.
  2. On your Android device, go to http://www.apkpure.com/region-free-apk-download, and in the text field input com.square_enix.android_googleplay.khuxjp
  3. The APK file should now download! When the download is complete, open the file and click "Install". After this installs, you are done!

There's also an app called Tunnelbear that works. You can get it on Google Play. You select Japan from the in-app map and let it connect, then just create a new Google account in your settings. Then, when you go into Google Play, it will be the Japan Store and you can download Unchained X.

    I actually tried exactly this first, but the Play Store wouldn't be fooled by TunnelBear anymore. Maybe they patched it? Did you actually try it yourself?

    I just kept it running in the background. I tried before when I had exited the app and it didn't work. But with the app running, it did.

    Would you mind posting a similar thread for the American release?? I live in Mexico so I don't know if it will be a similar situation for the English version of the game :/

    I know of an easy way to play Unchained X on IOS. I could explain it in a thread. You just have to change your address in the Apple Store to a Japanese address.

    Even though I can't speak a word of japanese I will still have a small go when the IOS version comes out. I just can't wait for an english release!

    It says since it hasn't reached the set telecommunications time you were logged out and returned to the title screen. The screen before this is a maintanaince popup that says they are openning their services at 12:00 (which in military time is noon). So I'm guessing it's going to be closed for another 8 hours or so.

    Thank you! Downloaded and installed and it's working on Samsung Galaxy S4. I don't understand Japanese at all but I still downloaded it. I don't know why did I even do it. xD I guess I'll just try playing the game for sometime(check out gameplay and stuff) and then just wait for English release.

    You can't communicate with the sever, so it logged you out and returned you to the title.

     

    Wait until the game actually becomes available to play (12PM JST) and then you'll be able to log in.
