New leak shows Kingdom Hearts 2.9 could be an upcoming title for PlayStation 3 & PlayStation 4, + possible Kingdom Hearts III info

DChiuch

A Square Enix game designer from Osaka has updated their public LinkedIn page with the projects that they worked on at Square Enix from August 2014 to June 2015, and curiously "Kingdom Hearts 2.9" is listed here as a title for both PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. If true, the listing also confirms some Kingdom Hearts III info such as Pixar involvement, a possible Gummi Ship system, and possible multiplayer! For the 10 months that they reported working at Square Enix, they supposedly worked on both Kingdom Hearts 2.9 and Kingdom Hearts III, making the following contributions:

Game Designer

Square Enix

August 2014 - June 2015(11 months) | Osaka, Osaka, Japan

---

This listing can be seen by searching for "kingdom hearts 2.9" on LinkedIn while logged in. While there is a small possibility that this page is fabricated, we have considered that their profile is linked to other profiles that we have verified as legitimate, and that their page contains a whole range of information about the game designer's career that is legitimate, and so we believe this to be true.

This news follows a leak from E3 2015 where Kingdom Hearts 2.9 temporarily appeared on the official Square Enix Presents schedule screen, before being quietly removed. This was also suspected to be fake at first, but we have since verified that Kingdom Hearts 2.9 did indeed appear on this official screen on the show floor. Was it a mistake, or something more?

If true, it is unknown exactly what Kingdom Hearts 2.9 could be. Is listing Kingdom Hearts III's Attraction Flow underneath Kingdom Hearts 2.9 a mistake, or could this new game be used to show off some of the Kingdom Hearts III gameplay features? Initial speculation was that Kingdom Hearts 2.9 could be a re-release of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX, but comments by Nomura in an E3 2015 interview seem to indicate that there are no plans for this. Was the game cancelled, or will it be announced in the future? Only time will tell.

Does anyone think that Square will come to light on this 'leak' anytime soon? Surely they wouldn't want to disappoint us if the game they're going to show isn't Kingdom Hearts related, so we can assume that if they don't inform us of anything, then this 'secret' is most certainly Kingdom Hearts 2.9.

2.9 does seem to be the secret TGS game, since most of Square's games are already known as of now, while 2.9 has barely been mentioned.

IFor this is true this reveals a lot of hidden truths- 1) that E3 screen might not have been a cock up/ mistake as we once thought regarding 2.9

2) possible/probable 3d remix ( personally I am not that bothered about this)

More importantly is the KH3 news potentially- I mean firstly we expected Gummi ships to return, would be comical to see Sora on a glider with Donald and Goofy, but hugely I practical

2) multiplayer- perhaps a mirage arena system?

3) the big kicker- Pixar involvement- I mean as sad as it is Roy Conli is running out of films, so somebody else needs to take the stage so why not Pixar? If Pixar is in the game I'd bet on Toy Story being involved, and f Pixar is involved I can see another world possibly appearing, due to Big Hero 6 being confirmed I doubt The Incredibles would appear, so maybe A Bug's Life?

Hmmm 2.9

A DDD remake is possible but not likely. Given 3D's gameplay relied a lot on the 3DS touch screen which would make the best console for a HD remake the Wii U. Also 2.9 is slated for the PS3 and PS4 along with having the Attarctionflow freature instead Flowmotion, so again, possible but not likely.

My bet is on 2.9 being BBS vol.2 or rather a realization of BBS vol.2. A game that is not a remake but a prequel that focuses on characters we haven't seen much of like King Mickey and the Twilight Town trio while at the same time demoing some features that will be in KH3.

BbSV2 was cancelled. I highly doubt they've been secretly working on it this whole time. KH3D is very likely though.

Nomura said that there was still a story to tell, though, but he just wasn't sure how to go about presenting it. Maybe he's finally found the way now?

Plus, he said he didn't want to release KH3D by itself--as he didn't think it would be meaty enough for people to want to buy it again--so including BbSV2 (even if it's just cutscenes) could sweeten that deal.

Also, I feel like a lot of you are forgetting that SE lies. They have to until corporate finally allows them to reveal info on the games they've been working on. So the idea of the Remixes not being on PS4, or no new games until KHIII, could very much be lies.

Let us not forget that Nomura, when asked if Ven and Aqua were people that the Lingering Will was talking about in KHIIFM, said that he might have just been talking about the elements. Not too long after that, we got more info on BbS and lo and behold Ven and Aqua were friends to our dear Lingering Will (Terra) and not literally wind and water. LOL.

Or perhaps a better example? Remember when SE lied and said they weren't working on II.5, but if I.5 got enough attention they might consider it? Yeah... that was obviously a lie, because II.5 was revealed soon after that, and clearly showed that they'd been working on the title for a while.

...But mainly I'm just playing devil's advocate here, because as much as I want BbSV2 to happen, I don't think that it's going to. But we'll see, I guess:)

But in any case, Square's obviously working on SOMETHING new here, otherwise Attraction Flow and boss planning wouldn't be a thing in II.9. It probably IS a KHIII demo or prologue, and maybe it being listed for the PS3's just a typo?

And for those worrying about them not being able to put these games on PS4 because of the licensing of Utada's songs, don't worry about it. I'm sure SE could easily work that out with her (especially since I still say she IS coming back for KHIII--as her dad hinted at--and has agreed on things with Square, but is now just keeping it hush-hush until the time is right).

That video title and thumbnail is very deceptive. Just wanted to say that none of this is confirmed yet, even though we all want it to be true.

Given the fact that Square Enix haven't said anything about this leak, then I am going to assume this is legitimate. If it were illegitimate, surely Square Enix wouldn't want fans to build up hype that would inevitably lead to disappointment.

I'm really skeptical of this... It's just solely for the fact that it's being released for both PS3 and PS4. If it was truly just a  DDD HD version, then why would they be releasing only literally 1 game from the series on PS4? The only sort of reasoning that would make sense to have it being released on both consoles is that I have to that is it would be just DDD HD for PS3 and all of the games bundled together for PS4.

The other reason I'm skeptical is if it would have a KH3 demo, how would that even be on PS3 since KH3 won't even be able to run on it? Once again, the only reasoning that would make sense to me would be that the demo would only be for the PS4 version and not the PS3 version.

But if that's the case then why release such a stripped down version for the PS3? I guess we'll see what they're up to but it just sounds sketchy. I feel like they should just choose one console to release it on unless they're going to make up for it on the other console.

It's possible that they're making a 'Final Mix' version of Dream Drop Distance and adding more secret bosses.

If that's the case, I want more obscure Disney bosses like Julius (like the Rhino from James and the Giant Peach), or, a TWEWY antagonist!

The fact that attraction flow is in the listing makes this more confusing and complicated to decipher. Attraction flow is obtained after Sora becomes a Master (heard this somewhere) so it can't just be DDD HD.

Furthermore, I've mentioned before that Kingdom Hearts III runs on Unreal Engine 4 - an engine that the PS3 doesn't support due to hardware limitations. Going by this, a demo/prequel wouldn't be possible as it is on the PS3 as well as the PS4.

The listing contradicts itself. Attraction flow is only in KH3, and Unreal Engine 4 can't be run on a PS3... I guess we'll have to wait till next Saturday.

I don't really understand why they're putting all KH games but KH3 from Xbox consoles unless those previous titles are partly owned by Sony. Otherwise there'll be a lot of confusion in some of the Xbox community.

I think it could be Kingdom Hearts III prologue(Like Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes) with KH3D HD cinematics included as well. A solid reason why it can be Kingdom Hearts 3 prologue is the mention of Attraction flow underneath the Kingdom Hearts 2.9 listing on the Linkedln profile.

Either that or KH3D Remaster and KH3 demo.

Remember, Attraction Flow is not the same as Flowmotion! As we know that Attraction flow has never been in any Kingdom Hearts games apart from Kingdom Hearts 3 whereas Flowmotion can be seen in Kingdom Hearts 3D.

I doubt it is going to be Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5, 2.5 and 3D HD ReMIXs all together. What if I have already played KH HD 1.5 and 2.5 on PS3 and would only like to get KH3D HD? I wouldn't want to buy the whole package just for KH3D HD...

Anyways, if this really is legit then we'll most likely see it getting announced during TGS this September 2015.

It'll be a Kingdom Hearts V-Cast HD remix, and you'll all be the sadest guys.

There's a lot of games that could fill in this title. Of course, like everybody else (if the game is legit of course) I immediatly think to KH3D HD, or maybe even a Final Mix of it. Heh, 3D is just as important as BbS, so why not?

But there is also those game that were cancelled, BbS -Volume Two- (some others mentionned it, and that would be a pretty cool game OR movie-like thing), and that game that was develloped for IOs devices if I recal. Fragmented Keys, I think.

This last one seemed really cool to me, and had really great world in its roster. Tron Uprising, Frozen, Wreck it Ralph, The Clone Wars... Seriously, I wanted a game like this more than KHIII (yeah, I don't really want the Xehanort arc to end...) There was a "hero" modelled, and a guy werring the Organization's coat, so it could have be one of the 13 Xehanorts. (And I really like not to play Sora. Sora's cool'n'all, but I like to try other characters.)

And of course, there is the possibilities for it to has new content. Like all-new. A Kairi-centred game could actually be nice, depending of when it happen. Given the fact that Ephemera, from Chi and Unchained Chi, seems to be quite important, he also could have a game, like how he fought in the Keyblade War, or the Keyblade War from its own point-of-vue.

Damn, there is so much possibilities, for a game that could be just not happening.

Thank god someone else said it directly. I was starting to think m post from several days ago got totally lost.

After really thinking about it, and listening to a lot of other seasoned opinions, the "KH3:Ground Zeroes" scenario just seems the most realistic.

Not to say I don't want DreamDropDistance D included, that would be stupendous and reasonable given what Nomura's said up to tis point. I'm just not going to sit here expecting that to be what this will be.

Yes, while that may seem the most realistic it isn't. Attraction Flow is exclusive to Kingdom Hearts III which runs on the Unreal Engine 4, an engine that the PS3 doesn't support due to hardware limitations. This contradicts the whole idea of a demo since it was listed as both PS3 and PS4. The most realistic thing we can expect from 2.9 is DDDHD.
