The Kingdom Hearts animated pilot will not go forward as of the moment

Director of the cancelled Kingdom Hearts TV show, Seth Kearsley, recently pitched the idea of rebooting the pilot episode to Disney. In a series of tweets he has revealed that it will not go forward at this time. However, this does not rule out the possibility completely. You can view the tweets below. Be sure to check out KH13's exclusive interview with Seth here.

I'm happy about this to be honest...I feared they were gonna make it some ugly computer-animated thing like today's typical TV shows. If Kingdom Hearts is to be on TV, they should make a beautiful hand-drawn animated show à la "Legend of Korra".

Seth Kearsley said multiple times that he personally wants to get the animators responsible for The Legend of Kora to work on the KH show. Meaning- if this show did get started most likely it would look exactly like The Legend if Korra. Seth Kearsley also said that he really wants the show to be depicted in a western anime style, with the Disney characters being drawn in the regular Disney fashion while the KH characters will be drawn in an anime style.

I also asked him if be would use the KH music, and said absolutely

Whatever it looks like, the storyboards revealed previously were drawn many years ago (around 2002-2003 I think). His drawing surely has improved since. I would personally love to see an adaptation of the KH manga written by Shiro Amano.

Yeah not like how Fairly Odd Parents is right now.

What's up with those days :P.

They will probably work on it after KH3 when it is quiet.

Don´t insult flash animation or CG like seriously not everything must look an anime.

I've never been a big fan of this happening. But if they do manage to get the Avatar team to work on it, then I'd be waaay less worried about it and would actually look forward for it!

Oops, sorry. I should be more careful with my words. Flash animation isn't ugly, neither is CG. It works great for certain shows like Steven Universe or the new Mickey Mouse shorts. My point was that KH would work better with hand-drawn animation. I just went a bit too far with my comments. Sorry.

Ooh that's cool, I'm all down for it then.

Awwww man, I really thought they'd actually be smart and jump on this money boat for a change! Oh well, at least it's not ruled out entirely. Still, I would have thought that they'd have caught on to the hype and attention that KH has been garnering, and how much more money they would make off of it if they just capitalized on marketing it more like their other products. Guess that just means that we have to keep making more noise and waves everywhere we go. More fan works, more cosplay gatherings at theme parks, more direct messages to Disney that we want more Kingdom Hearts everything. Even if they didn't jump at the chance here, it certainly feels like they're slowly catching on to KH's potential, so maybe in time they might change their mind and give the go-ahead for this little pilot after all. I just hope we don't have to wait another 10 years to see it happen.

Thanks for sharing this with us, Shinobi!

Aw man, seriously!? Why won't anyone see that Seth is trying to do the Kingdom Hearts series justice by adapting it into an amazing show!? He himself has said he'd honor the source material! And the fact that the whole thing would be hand drawn would be even more badass, since the 2-D art style would definitely fit with Kingdom Hearts!

Well, it looks like this will be another story saved for another side, another time, another place...and hopefully, Disney will greenlight Seth's project!

I think that at this point, we'll get this show after the conclusion of the Xehanort Saga, so that way, the show can buy time while Nomura plans for the next saga!

I am sort of relieved, game to film adaptions have a bad track record. There is plenty of KH around to get my fill without this.
