Questions About Xemnas and Some Other Things?
Gambler'sApprentice replied to venxas24's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
I hope you two don’t mind, I had to put my response in a Word Document and so tidied up some grammatical errors. It shouldn’t change any of your points. I had read that Terra’s thoughts remained in his armor, that this was what the Lingering Sentiment was. But in Kingdom Hearts we have the trinity of heart, soul and body. From what I understood the heart is an animating force, the body is what is animated, and the soul just… does stuff. Souly things. I know the soul holds a connection to the body, it was confirmed that Nobodies have bodies and souls, but not hearts (in their default state). I fail to see the relevance of Roxas’ birth without Sora’s memories. Roxas is only a Nobody in the sense that that’s the classification he falls under by certain definitions. Not trying to sound to nerdy, but it’s like classifying acids. Certain compounds may be qualified as acids under one definition, but not another. In the sense that a Nobody is the being that comes into existence upon the transformation into a heartless of a strong-willed individual, then Roxas is a Nobody. Using the definition of a Nobody being the heartless shell of a strong-willed individual who retains the memories and continues the existence of their past selves, Roxasis not a Nobody. I don’t claim that Apprentice Xehanort did or didn’t reclaim Terra’s memories, (though I’m unsure how he could do this if Terra’s thoughts, which would be based on his memories, are in his armor) I find it at least temporarily irrelevant. Upon regaining Xehanort’s memories, and by extension his goals and desires, (as evidenced by his creation of Xigbar) he did not at that time identify himself as Xehanort. He was Ansem, Apprentice Xehanort with the memories of, at least, Xehanort. Upon turning into a Heartless & Nobody he lost some amount of his memories from all 3 pasts, Terra’s Xehanort’s, and Apprentice Xehanort’s. As a Nobody is a body continuing on will power, I find the fact that his will was closest aligned with that of Xehanort to be an indication of whose Nobody he most is. It is probably some sort of split, pulling forth semi-random numbers; I’d say 70% Xehanort, 25% Apprentice Xehanort, 5% Terra. I don’t believe this is his memory of these individuals, I believe he has most memory of Apprentice Xehanort. This is a division of wills, the driving force for a Nobody. He is essentially Xehanort, with other factors coming into play, but never in direct opposition. I am defining Terra’s physical existence as the union of Terra’s Mind, Heart, and Body. Not trying to dehumanize anyone, but these are the ingredients for Terra. If they are not combined, Terra does not exist in the physical world. Master Xehanort ceased existing in the physical world when Terranort lost his memories, because he had taken over Terra’s body, making it his own, creating a different union of heart, body, and soul. I’ll admit the memories piece is a weak point, I will try and more clearly indicate the separation of memory and will. From what I understand the soul is not a physical component. Terra’s soul cannot, in any way, shape, or form effect the physical appearance of Xemnas, unless the Nobodyfication process’ physical changes have some hitherto unknown connection to the soul. Will’s do not have personalities. Will is a mental ability to continue beyond struggle to a goal. I would say that Xemnas’ goal is shaped by Xehanort’s will, but not his personality. Xemnas’ personality is that of a lost and broken man trying to fix himself by any means necessary, while unconsciously furthering another’s end. I’m not claiming Xehanort has destroyed Terra’s heart, only that his heart is dominating Terra’s, and thereby the body. Continuing the apple metaphor, underneath that foul caramel coating lies a perfectly viable apple. But it is not presently usable. I feel you are discounting the role that Apprentice Xehanort would have. It was in a sense, his body that Xehanort and Terra were fighting for. He didn’t steal it, no one was using it. So when the split occurred, some amount of him would be split as well. His will went primarily into Ansem, Seeker of Darkness, who carried on his experiments. Terra is still there, but below Xehanort, who is below Apprentice Xehanort. Xehanort is the more dominant personality, but Apprentice Xehanortis still the basis for Xemnas and Ansem. Nomura (shockingly) doesn’t say anything here. He says IF Ansem had some of Terra’s memories it’s a possibility he came to Destiny Islands knowing Riku would be there. This could befoof for thought, or it could be Nomura trolling us.Again. -
If you could change one event in history, what would it be, and how would you change it?

Questions About Xemnas and Some Other Things?
Gambler'sApprentice replied to venxas24's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
I am under the impression Terra's soul is currently in his armor. I believe Xemnas is Xehanort's Nobody because his actions were (semi-)intentionally designed for the benefit of Xehanort.Apprentice Xehanort was the individual who first took on the Ansem identity, and upon regaining Xehanort's memories was still the dominant personality. So he would consider himself Ansem, in the same way Roxas considers himself Roxas even with Sora's memories. But that identity seems to have laregly gone to Ansem, Seeker of Darkness, who continued the research journal, and the same goals as that of Apprentice Xehanort. Xemnas is more technically an imperfect Nobody of Apprentice Xehanort/Xehanort. I say imperfect because he (assuming he wasn't lying near the end of KH II) does not have, at the very least, complete memories of Terra, Xehanort, or Apprentice Xehanort. I see him as recognizing Aqua's armor as something that's supposed to be important, having some connection to a friend he can't recall. But his actions are those of Xehanort, but his strongest memories are those of Apprentice Xehanort, based on his dialogue with Ansem the Wise. Just for the record, I've written papers about multiple personality disorder that are easier to keep track of the personalities. -
I can understand that you want some level of independence, it's pretty natural.I would suggest still trying to come up with some sort of agreement, a chore-money equivalency. Perhaps you could agree to some sort of rent, which can be paid in chores and/or money. Then you can either free up time to get even a part-time job, or keep up your housework and have more of the money.
-
I'd advise some sort of equivalent exchange, if you can't get a job for whatever reason do stuff around the house with the agreement it means you get some portion of your money.

Questions About Xemnas and Some Other Things?
Gambler'sApprentice replied to venxas24's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
First answer is already complicated and deals with what an individual is. Forget the warm-up, let's get straight into philosophy. Terra ceased to exist, in any physical sense, in BBS. His heart was still in his body, but had been subsumed by that of Xehanort's. Unfortunately when Terranort was defeated he lost his memories, creating Apprentice Xehanort. This was an entirely separate person. It would be roughly comparable to cloning Terra and then putting a different consciousness in the body. Now, if Apprentice Xehanort had been the one who had turned into a Nobody then we could say Xemnas is his Nobody, with the memories of Terra and Xehanort still in his heart somewhere. But with the revelation he regained his memories prior to turning into a Nobody, this means that he is Xehanort's Nobody, but with an ill-defined connection to Terra due to Apprentice Xehanort having some connection. This is actually fairly simple. Sora had multiple hearts in him, imagine a basket with three apples in it, each one being a heart. When a Heartless steals your apple it causes the other apples to go off and do other things. But Xehanort wasn't coexisting with Terra's heart, he was controlling it, he was an evil caramel coating on Terra's apple-heart. So when his heart was lost there wasn't another heart to give to Xemnas. The exact nature of what happened to Eraqus is still a bit of a mystery. The two dominate theories are that he gave his heart to Terra, and that he gave Terra his light. Each one has some strong circumstantial evidence, and its own flaws, but at this point it's too early to call. -
I just assumed it meant he would make new memories with her, so Namine's coming back for good.

KH2 Should Riku have paid more?
Gambler'sApprentice replied to Dave's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
This is mostly a by-product of the difference in cultures between the West & the East. In Kingdom Hearts Light is things like hope, and caring. Darkness is power, control, etc. It also is highly corrosive, and so needs to be tightly controlled, which is why in BBS Terra uses Darkness when he gets emotional, he gets angry and loses control, allowing darkness to control him, rather than he control darkness. And I think you’re misunderstanding lust. Lust is a physical desire for sex. If Riku really lusted after Kairi he probably would have taken advantage of her while she was out. And What he mostly seems to mind is that Sora is ditching him.http://kh13.com/videos/kh/eng-cut/85-found-riku/ http://kh13.com/videos/kh/eng-cut/86-replaced-with-new-companions/ He probably feels jealous of Sora’s Keyblade skills, and was hoping he could protect both himself and Sora and Kairi. That last bit is entirely supposition, but I think fits in with his character. Well, firstly, Riku doesn’t do that much to people (I’ll prove that shortly) and secondly for all of Days and almost all of KH II, he hasn’t been busy saving Sora, and hasn’t had time to do much apologizing. Especially since Several of the worlds disappeared between CoM and Days. There’s only so much brooding and torture someone can go through after they repair all the damage they’ve done. It’s necessary to some extent to have both. He kidnaps Pinocchio because a puppet with a heart might have clues as to how to help a person without one.http://kh13.com/videos/kh/eng-cut/119-conscience/ He doesn’t assist in kidnapping Wendy, and just tells Hook to leave her behind. So he comes onto the ship with Peter Pan in the Brig and Wendy locked up. He can’t be held accountable for that.http://kh13.com/videos/kh/eng-cut/155-seven-chosen-ones/ He challenges Beast and defeats him. Yes, he’s somewhat mean, but he’s not mocking Beast’s love as much as his strength.http://kh13.com/videos/kh/eng-cut/172-riku-takes-the-keyblade/ Could you tell me where Riku is here?http://kh13.com/videos/kh/eng-cut/106-sealing-agrabahs-keyhole/ The people he’s wronged, worst case scenario arePinocchio- Who has vanished after KH Jasmine- Yes, he can apologize when ever But before Riku could apologize he had to forgive himself, he had to learn that his darkness was not a sign of greater evil always present. This is what CoM does, but before that’s even finished he’s gives up the ability to do anything like that to help Sora. I would like it if he apologized to Beast, Pinocchio and Jasmine, but he hasn’t done much, Maleficent was almost done by the time KH started. -
First, it's effective. It didn't cause a reaction, it wasn't effective. And personally, I'd agree with your statement that DDD had more going on in the last world than BBS, but that seems more because they didn't pace the game as well. I understand that Sora wasn't far enough in sleep to have the weird stuff going on until the last world, but it just felt like an exposition dump, at the end of the game..I didn't fight my way through 7 worlds so Xehanort could walk around telling Sora how dumb he is. BBS however had the final world a culmination. I had fought through all those worlds trying to stop unversed and defeat Vanitas & Xehanort. The final world tossed some plot at me, but mostly it was like most of the other games, I have a goal for most of the game, and the final goal is me achieving that. DDD gave me a goal, unlock 7 Keyholes and become a Keyblade Master. But I get to the final world and discover that, Wait, that's not my goal, let me give you an in-depth explanation of everything and change your goal. Sora, you need to stop Xehanort! Oh, your done? Well I guess that's it. Riku, you've actually been protecting Sora, so you've been working towards that goal the entire time, now continue. So Riku's story is (in my own opinion) better at the end. Let me say I don't like Eraqus overly much. But he's not a 'master of retards', nor does he fail to understand Terra. Terra doesn't have complete, 100% control over his heart, refusing to tolerate its existence. Eraqus thinks this is bad, and refuses to see Terra as a master as long as this persists. His devotion to is admirable, but misplaced. It leads to his own downfall, but he is a capable teacher, and will do anything for his beliefs,

They are each independent autonomous individuals, but they're are only three ways this confrontation can go, Xehanort wins, Xehanort loses, or it's postponed. We've already had it postponed. Doing it again will reek of desperation to keep making money. I just think of it as no matter what, Xehanort will have started everything that happens next. We'll still have heartless, and if we have an antagonist of light it'll probably be because of Xehanort. Even if he's not alive we'll have to deal with the aftershocks of what he's done. He's led to the creation of 6 keyblde wielders, the proliferation and power of Heartless, most Nobodies, Maleficent's knowledge of the outside world, a break in the knowledge of Keyblades after the death of Eraqus, and that's just from the start of BBS to whenever Apprentice Xehanort split in two. Who knows what he did as a younger man. Xehanort will be the villain others aspire to, almost immortal, and seemingly a genius because he knows more and adapts his plans so easily. Future villains may threaten the balance of light and dark, but only Xehanort will have the knowledge to threaten the very existence of both.
-
He is an excellent villain, but we've beenfighting him for the past decade. If it keeps up he won't remain a good villain. He needs to go out soon, because he's going to look dumb if he doesn't continue his plan, and if he does and he's stopped, anything else will just seem silly. He's threatened all of reality, anything else is a step-down for him.

Well I can only think of two ways, one is that we prevent Xehanort's fall into darkness, which pretty much annihilates the plot of every KH game, and eliminates Sora as a main character for subsequent games. The other is that we lock him up, seal him away, and hope really hard that he doesn't escape. Which he will, meaning this can't be the end of the Xehanort saga. Actually another idea occurs to me, Namine could seal away his darkness, like she offered to do for Riku. That would work.
-
Personally, I think it's better because the plot was more compact and flowed better. Every point in BBS seemed relevant, the way the characters interacted with the world helped shed the light on who they were. It was a game with all new characters, and it had that as an advantage. DDDs on the other hand only occasionally seemed to have much of a connection between its worlds and its plot. It did best in Tron, because that entire world was Sora dealing with someone he knew about being classified as not having a heart. Then it reminded us about Nobodies. It all wrked. Meanwhile places like Symphony of Sorcery sort of brushed on the idea of Nightmare preventing you from waking up, and then figured they were done.

So how would you advise keeping the worlds safe and saving Xehanort?

I'm putting this in Random, because it has more to do with me than Kingdom Hearts 3. Also there's more than enough posts like this out there clogging up actual important posts. So here's an in depth description of what I want out of KH 3 *Nomura-sama please read this) The game starts out in the Mysterious Tower. Assembled are Sora, Riku, Kairi, Lea, Mickey, Donald, & Goofy. They are going to be split up into groups. Sora and Lea are going to Castle Oblivion, to make sure no enemies remain, and get any information they can, as they have the most experience with Castle Oblivion's main floors. Mickey and Riku are going to the Realm of Darkness, to find Aqua and bring her to Castle Olivion, as they have the most experience in the Realm of Darkness. Kairi is going with Donald and Goofy to inform Disney Castle about what is going on, and give warning to the Princesses of Heart in particular, and the worlds in general, because this danger is so great Yen Sid has decided all the worlds must be warned. Their first stop after Disney Castle is Radiant Garden, hoping they can get some help. Meanwhile Kairi will continue her training. At this point you begin game play as Sora, the only character you play as during the plot. Sora apologizes for taking Axel's friend away from him, and Lea just blows it off, saying it's not his fault, he was asleep. He and Lea team up,and clear out the Heartless and lesser Nobodies. Riku and King Mickey arrive with Aqua, and Ansem the Wise, who still cannot remember who he is. Aqua joins with Riku and Sora to dive into Ventus' sleep, and return his heart, restoring Roxas and Xion at the same time. Roxas' first reaction is to start attacking Ansem, and has to be restrained as Ansem, still without memories struggles to understand why he would have done such things. Aqua refuses to turn CO back into Land of Departure until Xehanort is defeated, for fear that he may use it for ill. After a touching reunion with Xion, who is now remembered, they all head back to Mysterious Tower, to inform him they have easily completed the task. But the world is gone, not swallowed by darkness, but destroyed, (like Alderaan) with no sign of Yen Sid. Unable to process what has happened they head to Hollow Bastion, hoping they may find some help in finding Yen Sid. Upon arriving they find that Donald, Goofy, & Kairi never arrived. And worse still, the Unversed have returned. They decide to split up, each one going to warn another princess, and with their permission, bring them to Radiant Garden to more easily protect them. Meanwhile Merlin will see if he can contact Yen Sid through his arcane magiks. Sora goes to [any random Princess of Heart World from BBS] and discovers he has arrived too late; the castle has been laid to waste. He returns to Radiant Garden to find only two princesses have been saved, Belle and Jasmine, due to being protected by Beast and Genie respectively. Xehanort already has 4 pure lights, 5 if he’s the reason Kairi’s missing. Also Leon & co. have found Zexion & Aeleus, who Riku and Lea apologize for leading to their destruction in Castle Oblivion. They admit they were being rather horrible, and offer to help guard the princesses. With 2 wielders staying behind to help, everyone else scatters, looking for clues as to where Xehanort may be, while fighting Heartless, Nobodies, and Unversed. This should include some all-new worlds, but it’s not necessary. You only play as Sora, but going from world to world you bump into the others occasionally. They share information with you, and upgrade a D-Link like system you have each time you meet up. After you visit several worlds you are summoned to Radiant Garden by Merlin, who has used the clues and his arcane magiks to locate Yen Sid and the Princesses of Heart. They are in Virtual Twilight Town. Everyone heads over, and we have our first fight with the Norts. The only Princess they rescue is Kairi, who had kept the New Organization from discovering she could wield a Keyblade. Even Yen Sid is lost. Aqua now takes Kairi and Xion to Merlin, where she can train them in compressed time. Unfortunately while they are gone Luxord(Xehanort) and Xigbar(Xehanort) attack, and with their combined manipulation of time and space kidnap Belle and Jasmine, but Sora pursues them, and sends a message saying they’re in The World That Never Was. The Keyblade wielders pursue, and split up into three groups, Ventus & Aqua, Lea & Xion, and Riku & Kairi. Vanitas appears, and masquerades as Sora corrupted by darkness for Lea,Xion, Riku, & Kairi. He fights Riku and Kairi, and stabs her releasing her heart. Fortunately all that happens is Namine is recreated, but Riku gets enraged and brings Vanitas to the very brink of death. Before Namine rejoins Kairi, Riku informs her about Ansem, who she agrees to help restore the memories of. They head back to Hollow Bastion, where Namine begins to help Ansem. Unsure of what to do next, they all spread across Radiant Garden, to ensure no more enemies remain, and to practice some more. Here Vanitas confronts Ventus, and attempts to rejoin with him, desperate to form the X-Blade. He fails, and Ventus’ heart is whole once more. The reintegration gave Ventus Vanitas’ memories, which means he now knows where Xehanort is waiting for them. They depart, confident that they can win, because with Xehanort’s loss of Vanitas and absence of Kairi he only has 12 Darknesses and 6 Lights. They discover he has split Yen Sid’s heart, in much the same way as he did Ventus’, creating a new Darkness and Light. He has to combine them in combat in order to form the X-Blade, and so a Keyblade War begins. The various Xehanort incarnations fall, but the X-Blade is forged. Everyone unites to combat Xehanort, preventing him from attaining Kingdom Hearts. They all fall, Aqua, Riku, Kairi, Roxas, Lea, Xion, but Sora finally disarms Master Xehanort, and has the ability to unlock Kingdom Hearts, and remake the world as he sees fit. He uses his power to strike down Xehanort during that final battle, preventing the X-Blade from being forged, and removing the Nort influence from everybody, and prevent his friends from dying. Xehanort is finished. Terra (newly free from Xehanort) Ventus and Aqua return to Castle Oblivion, to return itto the Lnd of Departure so that all new Keyblade wielders may train there, Roxas, Xion, and Lea go to visit other worlds on their ‘summer break’, Mickey returns with Donald and Goofy to Disney Castle. And Namine joins Riku, Kairi, and Sora on Destiny Islands. Everyone gets there happy ending. Except for one person. One individual who would have had Sora destroy darkness while given his powers. And one person who will obliterate the darkness, and destroy the Nobdies/Somebodies that destroyed his world. Blinded by light, he (or she) shall seek vengeance. And so begins Kingdom Hearts IV. That’s the plot, just a few other things to say: There’s an additional feature, when you encounter other wielders while wandering, and your journal is updated with their adventures, you get an additional option, to fight their battles (only boss battles) And upon completion of the game you can fight the Keyblade War multiplayer, with up to 20 people, each one playing a different character. Sora apologizes to each Nobody he killed. It doen’tmatter who, or if he’s going to have to fight them again, he apologizes. Somehow we see what was going on in the Xehanort camp while all this was going on, specifically Vanitas. He came into being, and for all of his life he was told that he ust join with Ventus and forge the Keyblade War. When he came back when Ventus woke up and discovered that he was no longer necessary for that goal, he was merely another Darkness, he slowly decided to attempt to join Ventus and make the X-Blade and make Xehanort need him again. This doesn't have to be, and in fact shouldn't be, exactly what happens. This is just a layout of what I want, having never written a story of this scope, and never designed a video game. But thoughts and critiques are appreciated.

KHCoM The Castle Oblivion Plan and Namine
Gambler'sApprentice replied to deathrebirthsenshi's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
Most Nobodies do remember their pasts, Axel says this in Days somewhere. But Roxas and Namine are special Nobodies, and since Roxas doesn't remeber his pastit follows that Namine may not remember hers. She doesn't state it directly, but I always assumed she just didn't remember her past. If she did I think she would have been more Xikari and less Namine. -

KHCoM The Castle Oblivion Plan and Namine
Gambler'sApprentice replied to deathrebirthsenshi's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
No, you are completely right, permit me to explain.Namine has power over Sora's memories, and those around him. We agree on that, but I don't assume that she is capable of sharing his memories, she can mold them, manipulate, and alter them however she sees fit. But she doesn't have them. There isn't a very good analogy for this, so I'm going to go with the best I can. Suppose Sora's memories were paintings, and his mind is the canvas. Namine can use the paint already there, and the material already there to change the image. But the paint isn't hers, it's Sora's. She knows she can change the memories, but in the same way X-Men often find out they can, it just happens, often in a period of stress. In Namine's loneliness she called out, and her call reached Sora, leading him to Castle Oblivion. -
Who feels like some mental exercise?
Gambler'sApprentice replied to Dave's topic in General Discussion
To all the people that are saying the mind is separate from the body, especially Amon with his computer example, I'd like to just mention that the body will effect the mind, for instance if you touch something hot, and move your hand away, you move your hand before your brain sends the message to do so. Your arm does that automatically (unless you intentionally placed it on a hot surface). So your arm thought for you but, and here's the weird part, your mind stores the information as such Send message to put hand on X-Put hand on X-Received information X is hot-Send message to remove hand from X-removed hand from X when what happened was Send message to put hand on X-Put hand on X-Received information X is hot-removed hand from X-Send message to remove hand from X -
KH3D Did Your Thoughts About Them Change...
Gambler'sApprentice replied to VisitJoan's topic in Kingdom Hearts - General
If Saix wanted to fill himself with darkness and become an even more annoying character, I couldn't care less. I hate him with a burning passion Xigbar, that's kinda sad, because according to Days he feels some remorse for the events of BBS. And since everyone else we know about already was a Nort, I don't care.
