Ansem The Wise's underrated monologue

Posted

No one really talks about good old Ansem The Wise, OG Ansem! His monologue before he got blasted into the ROD was pretty fricking amazing

"Xehanort. Foolish apprentice of a foolish man. You have surpassed nothing—only proved how little we both know. We may profess to know the heart, but its essence is beyond our reach. We're both ignorant—as oblivious as when we began. I'm afraid that any world you try to create... Any world of yours... would be an empire of ignorance. That is why you and your creation are destined to fall!"

Turn down for what from ansem lol

RIP Christopher Lee. Great voice for a great character.

Although, whoever voiced Ansem the Wise when Lee didn't is very good.

Cory Burton.

From this I could tell. We never really appreciated Ansem the Wise as a character. He was so full of himself, but then saw the error of his was amd sought to rectify his mistakes. That gave him resolve. Ansem the Wise didn't just have an underrated monologue. He was also an underrated character. A character that deserves more appreciation.

At first he seems like a huge asshole, but this scene makes you empathise with him. He lost everything he had because of Apprentice Xehanort's schemes, which drove him down quite a desperate and selfish path, but after seeing Sora's efforts, Ansem realised how hearts truly work. A man who studied hearts his entire life could only find the answer because of Sora.

Yeah, Ansem The Wise was truly a spectacular character!  He was deeply flawed, yet he had his own sense of purpose, and he was willing to do anything, sacrifice anyone, to achieve his endgame!  I love flawed characters like that!  And well, when he sacrifices himself in the end and delivers that epic monologue, it sends chills down my spine!  Christopher Lee did a masterful job as this great character, and Corey Burton has also delivered!  I wonder if we'll see Ansem The Wise again in Kingdom Hearts III? :O

Ansem the Wise is one of favorite characters in the series especially in Kingdom Hearts II, he deserved better. However he´s character was so poorly developed.

I hate AtW didn't show up more in KH2, it made his character development seem out of nowhere (and he disappeared for literally no reason. He spends a year wanting to wake up Sora in order to use him to obtain his revenge, but as soon as Sora wakes up he leaves Sora to his own devices?), but the stuff he says is always gold.
