If they approached it the same way they did with the Jim Carrey Grinch costume, it probably could have worked better. Of course, it certainly helps that the actor supports the appearance better. He's not exactly as physical an actor. You gotta remember, this was 2003. Myers was fresh off the third Austin Powers and the first Shrek with Shrek 2 on the way. He was on top of the world! He could do no wrong!!! and then oh boy did he do wrong (Though to be fair, no actor could've made that movie good. The script is confusing and weird with tons of random hit-or-miss, mostly miss, jokes that don't fit in at all. The costume effects were the least of that movie's problems.)
