Will there be a Kingdom Hearts 3 Final Mix?

Posted

The thing I dread and love at the same time.  Will there be a kh3 final mix?  If so, what will be in it.

I say instead of it being japan exclusive for the next 5 years, there should be a DLC version that can be downloaded for some extra cash instead of purchasing the whole thing again in japanese with the whole game ahead.

now that DLC is a thing there's no reason for them to rerelease the game with additional content and only for certain regions.

if anything once any major DLC is out we might get a complete edition called "Final Mix" just to keep with the traditional naming scheme.

I sure hope not. Only time will tell...

if then

hopefully there will be a Edition with season pass

I'm pretty sure if there's a Final Mix it'll come in the form of a season pass.

If there's one it will be as DLC and I think it will have things to do with the future saga... a new boss and cutscenes leading to new lore or something like that... that would be my guess :v

It would be better, nowaday to release a "Final Mix" version of Kingdom Hearts 3 as a season pass, rather than buying the Final Mix version as another game.

The problem with a "Final Mix" DLC to add to the original game would be the coherence. The Final Mix version of KHI and II added some cutscenes, items or boss fights in the main storyline. Thus, it would be strange to add some items, bossfights, cutscenes that trigger during the storyline with the DLC, since, most people will finish the game before any DLCs comes out I guess, missing all the "Final Mix" things.

The advantage of Final Mix contents being sold within a new copy, is that you have to start from the beginning, you can't miss any added features. (Another positive aspect would be, that we're getting another front cover for the physical copy :P)

So, you'd have to pick a new save file0 and start the game all over again. I can't think of a game that added story elements within DLCs that force you to start a new game.

Anyway... I'm more focused on how they will fit the extra content rather than what I would like to see in it.

At this point it would be hypocritical to criticize extra content in Kingdom Hearts, for the "Final Mix" versions, are what we would call today "Game of the Year Edition", "Director's Cut Edition", "Definitive Edition", and so on. I love what the several Final Mix versions brought to their original game, so... What I don't want to see though is a ton of little DLCs for skins, music, weapons... I would like to get A "Final Mix" DLC and only this. Or, a Dark Souls type of DLC, two to three big DLCs. But no little DLCs.

As for the content of the DLCs... maybe a totally optional world, one that the fans wanted but could not be in the main game. New bosses of course, with a sadistic, fast as hell, tanky boss, the usual.

Oh, and no in-game pre-order bonuses, of couuuurse.

Better not be.

I'd assume that like FFXV kh3 won't actually be "finished" when it's "released" so I think that the name "final mix" is somewhat appropriate here. That being said if I pay for Kh3 (which I might not after the ridiculous wait) I'm not going to pay for another version of the same game unless the payoff is warranted. As far as an answer to your question it's entirely possible. Square seems pretty set in their ways. Not saying that's a bad thing, if ain't broke don't fix it and all that but I'd prefer a cheap dlc that would turn my copy of kh3 into kh3fm without paying for a whole new game. Like what bungie did when they turned Destiny into Destiny: the taken king

Honestly, I'm a little mixed about this. I want Kingdom Hearts III to be as complete an experience as possible, so I don't want for any additional scenes and the like to be relegated to DLC! I would want for it to be in the base game from the start!

If there is DLC though, adding in some extra secret bosses, extra items and the like could warrant said DLC being called Final Mix, but I don't know, I just want KHIII to be a complete game. xD

If they ever release a complete version with all DLC out of the box a year after release or so it'd probably be called Final Mix, either that or there will be a pre-order with a season pass that will be called Final Mix. That's what I'm kind of hoping at least.

That said, they better not "hide" or add cut scenes in the main game after release, that'd only look like the game isn't "complete" and would probably start an outrage.
