How Do Characters Understand What Donald is Saying?

Featured Replies

They read the subtitles just like most of us do.

The other characters understand him just fine because they understand him. The game's not gonna take time out of the dialogue every other sentence to ask Donald to repeat himself, and then he gets pissed off that he has to repeat himself all the time and gets even harder to understand. Part of Donald's character is his weird talking habits but the game also has to keep the narrative flow. So, even though I catch maybe 60 percent of what Donald says without the subtitles, the other characters just have to understand him because the alternative wastes time.

To me the characters can understand Donald just like the Disney characters from Disney Castle/Disney Town. I can understand Donald quite clearly but he gets a bad temper he talks too fast and I barely understand. Lol. It's quite funny.

They most-likely watch a LOT of Donald Duck cartoons!!

That is what I did back in high school, and I can comprehend Donald Duck quite fluently!!

i understand him fine so i assumed they all did too

I can actually understand Donald pretty well! His words come out clearly enough. I guess when it comes to him getting angry and spouting out angry words is when he gets incomprehensible, but other than that, he's pretty understandable! :)

Same here thougj the subtitles help a lot i also watched a lot of donald duck cartoons so that trains you aswell.Maybe aora and the others have just a bubble fish in their ears though

Lol, yeah!

And yes, just look at Ducktales! There's no subtitles for what he's saying, but I can understand what he says just fine. Maybe it's because I've gotten used to Donald's voice. :3

With enough training, you can here his true voice and understand everything he says.
This next video is edited so you can here a bit of his true voice :

Maybe they just guess what he's saying and by some miracle always get it right?

I don't know, I've never had any problem understanding what the heck Donald is saying (In the cutscenes at least), so I would only assume that Sora and co. do as well.

Also, isn't it a little weird that Donald is the only duck that talks like that? Scrooge, Daisy and Huey, Duey and Louie talk just fine, so what's up with him? Eh, whatever, character quirks.

You took what I was gonna say!
