In the past few days, we've been theorizing about the story and the characters' role in KHIII. Pretty much every character's name has come up, from Riku Replica to Sora and even the Final Fantasy characters like Leon. But we haven't talked much about Naminé and there's a clear reason why. We haven't seen her in any promotional material except for the cover art. The cover art seems to hint that she will have a role in the story but we haven't seen any footage of her anywhere.

In my opinion, it's either because she has a REALLY big role in the story and Nomura really wants it to surprise us or it might be because she has a REALLY small role in the story and they don't have much of her to show. Last time we saw her she was in Twilight Town and we know Sora will be going there. We also know the tutorial takes place in Twilight Town. Is Naminé going to appear in the tutorial section of the game? Will she play a role in Roxas' return? I seriously wonder what her role is going to be...What's your take on Naminé's role in the story?

I think it's possible that Xehanort could use Namine in some ways.  She does have control over Sora and anyone connected to him memories.  Also, Marluxia and Larxene are back along with the previous Organization members, so it would be interesting to see their interaction and see if Xehanort will go for the hostage situation in Com/Re:Com.

I don’t know about that, I’m not a fan of rehashing storylines. Plus I just remembered Naminé isn’t actually in Twilight Town, she’s back within Kairi so Xehanort would have to locate and get a hold of Kairi (which might be really hard) to get Naminé.

I wonder if that clip we saw with Kairi getting swept up by that horde of Heartless might come into play with Namine's rebirth.

That’s a possibility. I don’t know how that would work since Naminé’s birth situation was really unique.

Yeah and maybe her being born out of Kairi again would impact us fans.

     Honestly I don't expect her to appear much. However I think the fact that she's featured on the cover of the game means something. She has to have some role play if Nomura bothered to include her. Especially since the majority of the cover is given to the series' trios: The Destiny Islands Three, The Sea Salt Trio, The Wayfinder Trio, and the Disney Boys. She's the only one on there apart from everyone and doesn't fit in. So who knows? Maybe I'll be surprised and she ends up having a significant role.

A Darkling also appears on the cover.  I wonder if the Darkling and Namine have some sort of connection.  Why is that specific Heartless on the cover?

I feel like Namine is going to be absolutely crucial in KH3 mainly because we haven't seen her at all in any of the trailers. Normally I would assume that this means she won't be super important, but she must be important because she's on the cover of the game! So yeah, she must be serving a super important purpose that Nomura doesn't want us to know. I honestly don't really know exactly what she'll be doing, but at the same time I don't really want her wielding a keyblade. She doesn't strike me as a fighter at all, so her having a keyblade wouldn't really make sense. I imagine Xehanort will try to get his hands on her at some point and try to manipulate her. After all, she can manipulate Sora's memories, which I imagine Xehanort would love to utilize for his own personal gain.

Namine really got it tough huh? She's gotta come back somehow, genuinely curious how they'll pull it off.

Yup but I hope we get something different from Xehanort instead of a rehash of Larxene and Marluxia's plans.

Right? Her situation is so mysterious...Like everyone's has had a little tease of their role in the story. Even Xion who no one remembers. Why is Naminé's role shrouded in mystery? I really wonder what Nomura's cooking.

I'm confident it'll be a neat turn of events.

But I'm assuming she might receive an upgrade of her powers, something she can use to help Sora and the others in their battle against Xehanort!

I made a theory months ago. I think she'll be essential in bringing back Xion.

She might be necessary but let's not forget about Even.   He is likely to have a bigger role in KH3 and we could get more insight into the Replica Program.   I'd never seen Namine and Even personally interact together.   How they will end up working together and getting Xion back through such work I have yet to imagine.

I do recall Vexen having a bunch replicas of himself in the manga. If anything he should still have Xions data.

I'm not sure about Even helping, I feel like Ienzo might be more helpful in gathering data about Xion since he's pretty much already doing that with Roxas.

What if xehanort found a way to change her powers so that she became essential for the norting process after all in what way does a keyblade wielder have the power to change someones mind sounds a lot like namine powers to me

Xehanort doesn't exactly change their minds, he just puts a piece of his heart inside them. And he can do that if there's enough darkness within the people he's trying to possess (like he did with Terra).

I'm pretty sure that this time around, Namine won't be a hostage. If anything, Xehanort might attempt to do something, but Sora will probably stand in the way. There's no telling what could happen, as anything is possible at this point!

Namine's tricky because Kairi can't produce a Heartless. So getting her out seems to be the hardest thing. But once they get her out it should be fine right? I mean Namine's birth was unnatural. She didn't have a original body to base on like Roxas did, right? So maybe she'll just magically have a body of her own. Maybe she's already out of Kairi and we don't know it yet. That would actually be funny if Namine was already free and we didn't even know it.

Definitely.  Like in KH2, she could walk out of Kairi until the climax of KH2 but only Sora and Kairi could see her, right?
