Alright.

The first piece in finding the IRL Destiny Islands is looking for anything resembling the foods of Destiny Islands. In this case: The Paopu Fruit.

And wouldn’t you know it, there exists an IRL Paopu Fruit called “Carambola”. It’s nickname is “Star Fruit.”

Now. With this piece of the puzzle, we have to look at geography. Where is Southeat Asia? What countries are in Southeast Asia?

There are 11 counties in Southeast Asia. Some of which are inland countries and some are island nations. The island nations of Southeast Asia are: Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, East Timor, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

From there, the next step is to actually look at clothing.

Specifically, looking at Selphie and Kairi’s school uniforms from KH2.

Which is a really weird thing to look for next, but because we know which countries are mostly island, we just look for the countries that have the closest resemblance to their uniforms. And based on age alone, Kairi and Selphie are most likely either year one or year two high schoolers. In America, they’re called freshman and sophomore and they’re grades 9 and 10.

I went through all the island nations uniforms, specifically for high school, and found out they’re uniforms look the most similar to Indonesia’s.

TL;DR: Destiny Islands is, indirectly, based on Indonesia.

I took it a step further and found out what ethnicity the Destiny Trio is.
