If anyone knows sakurai. The creator of smash. he said the reason smash ultimate didn't had that much cutscene content was that it will get uploaded on the internet. So why even bother to make cutscenes ?

I disagree. Watching a game and playing it for yourself are DRASTICALLY different experiences.

I think that's a bit of an L take on Sakurai's part.

No disrespect to him, obviously, because I love Smash, but denying your fans content like that because you're just gonna see it online is really just a poor business decision.

I really appreciated smash brawls story mode. So it was kinda sad to see that ultimate didn't had that much cutscenes

uploads are gonna happen all the time. It doesn't stop games from releasing games with many cutscenes

I kinda see where he’s coming from though. I recall when KH3 was coming out I ended up blocking several YouTube channels because the spoilers were just that out of control.

And that's exactly why I just steered clear of YouTube for the most part for when Ragnarok and SV came out.

folks have gotta ditch this mindset. a company isn't guaranteed a sale in most cases, so there's no way they can lose money they never would've had. potential money loss is not money loss, in other words. now, if they had their products stolen? that's a better example of lost money

People streaming or uploading games they play have proven the oppsite if anything, the more popular it is on those kinds of platform the more people will buy them

You have more people checking out the game and in most cases where it looks fun it actually boosts sales

Among Us is like the best example of this, the game went unnoticed for years until some people streamed during covid and it blew the firetruck up

Hades is another game that blew up like this

COVID kinda just helped game sales in general

Hades had the reputation of Supergiant behind it, plus it had been in early access for like a year and a half but your point still stands

Supergiant has made some great games before it but Hades's popularity was much higher than them
