"Darkness Smell" AP 6 Ability: Allows you to sense where boss fights and normal heartless encounters are going to occur. Unlocking: Sora level 67

But srsly, I aways thought Darkness would smell like smoke... with a slight smell of Chocolate.

why does that sound like it what darkness would smell like?

In all seriousness, darkness probally smells like funky socks, or poision (if poision even has a smell).

Gas?

It smells like dark chocolate /shot

I always thought it had a caremel smell but, you get the picture.

Hope Square does more with that ability.

I hope they do as well. In more recent games (Days, BBS, Re:Coded), they have magic and abilities that work along with the senses; "Poison", "Confuse", just to name a few. So if they have these things that pertain to the senses.. why not other things; smell, taste, feeling, etc.

And one other thing.. darkness probably smells like Xehanort farts. Light probably smells like paupu-scented air fresheners. /shot

POOP SMELL !!!! AND MC DONALDS SMELL TOO!!!!!! (DONT MENTION THE MC DONALDS PART)

I know this is a really old thread, but I still wanted to put in my two cents.

To me, it seems like Riku is referring more to a "6th sense." No--not the "I-see-dead-people" kind of 6th sense. A different, more real kind of 6th sense. Have you ever experienced someone walking into a room, and you knew right off the bat -- even though you've never met them before -- they weren't exactly the best person to hang around with? That's "the smell." When people walk into a room, they carry some kind of "aura," and how people detect that kind of aura is different, depending on how they read others. Just by the way a person acts, you can detect whether or not that person is shady or pure--thus, "a smell."

i think darkness would smell like dirt probly and light could smell like fresh laundry :]

I dont know but sure I as heak cant smell Light.

Sora's last line before final boss: blah, blah, blah, friends...

Riku's last line before final boss: You smell bad.

Winning.

For those of you saying Riku's ability to smell darkness is metaphoric, you also have to remember that he said he could smell Naminé, and that she had the same scent as Kairi--he wasn't just smelling darkness. And whenever he told Naminé that, he actually brought his hand up to his nose, emphasizing the act of physically picking up on a scent. Why would he make that gesture, and use the word "smell" so blatantly if he was only talking about some kind of sixth sense?

Then again, in the Japanese version, the word Riku uses for "scent" (nioi) can be translated as "aura." But that is just one possible translation, whereas all the other translations have to do with "odor" or "scent" or whatever. So maybe it is meant to be metaphoric, but I'm thinking it's more likely to be literal.

Haha but I have wondered how Riku developed a superhuman sense of smell in Chain of Memories, but there's no mention of it in any of the other games. Just seems kind of random to me. :P

Darkness is chestnut-scented. Its smell is very pungent.
