I'm a Roman Catholic by practice (as in, I go to a Roman Catholic church every Sunday, believe in things such as the consecration of the bread and wine, etc. etc.), but some of my views and feelings about God and things aren't really shared by most other Catholics. i think right now I'm leaning more towards just being Catholic (as opposed to a Roman Catholic--there's a difference) or maybe just a vanilla Christian.

I am a Christian. I define a Christain as anyone who belives in Jesus and follows his teachings. It doesn't matter what denomination you are as long as you have accepted Jesus as your lord and savior.

 

That IS the definition of CHRISTianity.

 

Yeah I'm a Confirmed Catholic. I'll just say that there are things within the Church that I like and agree with and others that I don't.

I like how the people earlier phrased it--a relationship rather than a religion. I always thought of it as a relationship within the religion.

 

I am. How many people here read the Message? It's the Bible, but put into modern language for those of us who are stupid. 8D I love reading the Message, because it's so much easier to grasp than translations like the NIV and KJV.

I am very christian, and i am damn proud of it. All the atheists and satanics i have to deal with everyday (on and offline) piss me off so much, every now and then i begin to wonder if I'm the only christian on the internet. Good to know i'm not

I'm a Christian. Actually, I'm a Catholic, as in, Roman Catholic.

Except I'm not "in practice"... as I don't attend church every Sunday.

But I do believe in the Catholic beliefs... and that's all the time, not just when I do attend church. i.e. I am not just "selectively" a Catholic or just posing as a Catholic when I do attend church.

 

They expect me to say new changed way to Bishop.. "With your spirit" or something..

When exactly did they change that? I've noticed that happening the past few times that I've been to church (and as I said before, I don't go to church that often... but I clearly remember it not being changed like, just last year...) It keeps catching me off-guard, lol

They changed it not long before last Christmas, so I thought it was funny to watch all the "Christmas and Easter only" Catholics mess up.

 

But they changed it basically into a more accurate translation of the Latin mass, which is understandable... but I still wish they had just kept it the same.

I'm a Christian, Roman Catholic to be more specific. My family doesn't attend church very often, but I still believe in and follow God and Jesus and go to a Catholic school.

I was Catholic until I read the Bible -__- I don't mind what anyone's religion is, just as long as they aren't one of those religious folk who guilt you about normal human behavior or believe in a 6000 year old earth. I personally prescribe to an agnostic-deistic view on god; we can't know whether it exists or not, but if it does it would likely not care about mortal affairs and is indifferent to us looking at other people lustfully. As a scientist primarily, I believe in exploring the universe ourselves, trying to explain the amazing place we live in without provoking God (which may or may not exist) while embracing humanity in all its goodness and "sin".

 

Just as long as people don't try and ram Jesus down my throat, I'm happy with people having whatever religious orientation they desire.

You don't have to believe in the earth being 6000 years old. I've heard people say the bible says that, but seriously, where does it say that? I like to believe in both science and religion. I think of them as one, not separate like some people. For example, science tells us that the universe was created by the big bang. Well what caused this to happen? I believe that god was the "first cause" that made the big bang happen, and also why when earth was made the conditions happened to be perfect for human life.

I know I can't "understand God's mind" but he's too jealous; if there was only one God he wouldn't care if you believed in him or not and his love would be universal as long as you are a decent person.

 

I think science and spiritualism is possible (and quite common) but science helps us to understand how insignificant (but special) we are, so the idea of a personal god seems less possible. We live on one planet amongst the billions of planets in one of the billions of galaxies, humans have only existed for approx. 0.005% of the earths total history, and we are only one of 1/2 a billion or so species that have existed on earth. Questioning is necessary for good science, and a personal god doesn't fit in with this from my experiences.

The Bible says that there is not a decent person on this earth. Think about how many times you have done something wrong. Doing something wrong is a sin. Sin seperates us from the love of God, that's why he sent his son Jesus to die on the cross, and take our sins away so that we could be with him. All he asks is that you admit that you are a sinner.

 

If there were other species in the galaxy how come they haven't found us yet. If we have existed for only a small fraction of the earth's total history, there should be a whole lot more fossils discovered by now. Yes, questioning is necessary for good science, but it can't be presumed to be true unless it's backed up by evidence. I don't know your personal experiences all that I can tell you is that God is a wonderful, loving, forgiving God.
