I can never understand the difference between anime and cartoons. ._. Other than the obvious of 'anime people have huge eyes and is originally japanese'.

 

That's basically the difference. Anime is just Japanese cartoons. Although, there are differences between Japanese cartoons and American cartoons, because of cultural differences. Such as, the big eyes(like you said), they tend to be more colorful, and many of them are a bit more adult oriented than American cartoons. I'm not saying all American cartoons are for children(i.e. Family Guy, Boondocks, basically any American cartoons on Adult Swim), but many of them are.

 

Anyway, my 3 favorite are:

 

1. Yu Yu Hakusho

 

2. Naruto and Naruto Shippuden

 

3. Durarara!!

Hrm... Well the first one is definitely my favourite anime of all time but the other 2 are hard to choose( I have alot of favourites)
