After hearing people's unrealistic predictions and negative comments towards Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Sora96 is here to get the facts straight.

 

It has been reported by Shinji Hashimoto that Versus XIII will not be appearing at Tokyo Game Show 2012, but he has hinted on his Twitter page that it will be making some kind of appearance in 2013.

 

Kingdom Hearts III wont begin development until the "Kingdom Hearts team" has finished Versus XIII. So Kingdom Hearts III probably wont start development until 2014.

 

Sadly some fans have gone as far to say they want or wanted Versus XIII cancelled. If this did happen it would look badly on Square Enix. And wouldn't help development on Kingdom Hearts III. Sure it would start sooner but the team would not have finished a game on current hardware. Definitely not ideal. Kingdom Hearts III deserves the best, and if they have the experience and skills from completing a game like Versus XIII it will make Kingdom Hearts III even better. And if Versus XIII wasn't finished then it would seem like a waste of time. And then you would have been waiting all this time for nothing!

 

Now comes what I'm worrying about. By the time Kingdom Hearts III has begun development it will most likely be 2014. Kingdom Hearts III is going to take 3 - 5 years approx to develop and produce.

 

Sony continually state their committed to their ten years of support for the PlayStation 3. And the PlayStation 2 has been supported for twelve or so years. Which may also happen for the PlayStation 3. But the PlayStation 2's past four or so years haven't been very good. And all the PS2 gets now is Madden, Fifa and NBA.

 

We're looking at a 2017 release for Kingdom Hearts III. Late 2016 for Japan is a slim chance. Not great for Square Enix's sales. It wouldn't make sense to release it on another console such as the Wii U. The PlayStation 3 just seems to suit Kingdom Hearts III perfectly given KH, KH2 and Re:Com were released on the PS2. Square Enix's favourite consoles are the PlayStation series as well.

 

Is Versus XIII to blame for this? I'd assume so. But we probably wont ever know what's made it take so long.

 

We have to hope Nomura has written the story and planned a lot or even most things by the time Versus XIII is finally finished and have them jump right into it before time runs out.

 

Well I'm done. Let's hope Square Enix make both games massive successes. And the greatest in each's series to date. Hello FF VII remake.

It won't be, I have a strong feeling Agni's Philosophy is FFXV.

This is accurate besides ONE thing.

They never said they'd start KH3 after Versus was done. We assumed that. Nomura just made vague suggestions about working on KH3 after a certain BREAKTHROUGH was made on Versus.

So the game could well be in development already (In fact, that could explain the slow pace, if part of the team is making stuff for KH3)

 

We can't possibly know if they've made a breakthrough, because we know nothing of the game. I seriously doubt they would have started it while having a game like Birth by Sleep or Kingdom Hearts 3D in progress.

 

 

Then it doesn't make sense why it should be on the PS3. Next-Gen will be out by then, and Kingdom Hearts goes onto almost every damn platform. The 'main sony games' is just something we've made up. Nothing more and nothing less.

The PS2 was pretty much dead (unless you count EA shovelware) by the time it came out maybe? Many things can happen during development and, there was never a official statement why it went to the PSP, so I really can't answer your question because of it.

I'm not sure if Square will really have to wait on making Kingdom Hearts III until FF Versus 13 is complete, since Kingdom Hearts 3D managed to come out while Versus was in production.

 

This is just my opinion, but since Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts are two independent series, I would think the company'd be careful to appease both fan bases and release games equally. Just as they're releasing FF XIII-3 while Versus is being made to give the Final Fantasy fans something, it's presumable they'll do the same for their Kingdom Hearts fans. Also, they would lose quite a fan base if they release the next (and final, might I add) installment to the KH series five years from now, which in turn would mean they'd lose sales. Surely Square-Enix must realize this?

 

But, overall, this is just my speculation. I sure hope we'll get to see Kingdom Hearts III before the predicted 2017!

It's officially seven years.

tutti frutti. Square's main mistake was announcing FFVXIII too early. And I think that Square should better time management and planning with some games. Until either game comes out for people to get their hands on, I'm not really going to worry about it since there are other games out there on shelves to play.

The gap between KH2 and KH3 is going to be ******* massive!!! Really what the hell Square Enix! Also why did they even wanted to bring up a new final fantasy suddenly and not consider KH3.
