The Rules:

• The Competition is run through the topic poll.

• Each round runs from Noon-Noon the next day.

• My timezone is EST, so that will be the time I go by.

• To cast your vote, check the bracket and then vote for Option 1 or Option 2.

• Option 1 will always be the top character, while Option 2 will be the bottom.

• In the finals, Option 1 is on the left, while Option 2 is on the right.

• At noon, I will count the votes and the winner of the round is the one with the most votes.

• The next round begins immediately.

• DELETE YOUR OLD VOTE

• Then vote again.

• The round ends when I post a message saying that the next round has begun.

This way I can manage the competition without having to make separate threads about each round.

 

I'm not perfect- some days will be slightly shorter or longer than other ones.

Let the battle begin! This is a special round, so voting begins now through noon, to into tomorrow's noon. So that leaves about 33 hours as of this post left for this round.

 

 

Disclaimer: These pairing were assigned by a random number generator (with Yuna, Noel, Ramza, and Zack being assigned 14, 15, 11, and 16 respectively).

The main characters were chosen based on Dissidia. Many can make arguments that Vaan was not the main character, and Luneth could have not been the main one either, but I wanted to represent each FF in the fairest way possible.

I selected Noel and Yuna as protagonists from the numbered sequels.

I chose Noel over Serah because he is marketed as the main protagonist.

Ramza and Zack were chosen to represent Tactics and Crisis Core, taking the place of the customizable heroes of 11 and 14.

I have to say Vaan because he has awesome moves, and I enjoyed playing him in Dissidia

Tidus, because I respect him more than Vaan and Tidus was actually relevant to the plot.

I actually enjoyed that about Vaan, how he wasn't some destiny ridden main character guy with major emotional issues. He had some issues, but nothing compare to any other FF protagonist.

I'll say Tidus, both for his KH cameo and because I like his story. I haven't played XII or X, but I've read about their stories and they are both interesting. I prefer Tidus', and I love his interaction with Yuna and his father.

 

On the other hand I loved Vaan in Dissidia 012, but I think that the actual game counterparts are more cannon.

IX and V are two games I haven't played, but I love Bartz from Dissidia. He's so funny, and he's almost broken if played right in the first one.

Zidane, he just is more intresting character and has cooler moves

In the event of a tie, the posts made by people on the thread about the characters will be added to the poll result (limit- 1 post per person). So if Zidane and Bartz tie with 6, and the people who supported Bartz didn't post about it, Zidane will win.

 

In the event of another tie, the winner will be selected by a Sudden Death Poll.

Definitely Zidane, he's way funny in IX.

This one is tricky. Zidane is definately in my ultimate team (a Thief with great offense? How often does that happen?), but I like Bartz on a more personal level.

 

Zidane, just because I liked IX better.

Terra because she's sexy.

I'm a big fan of Firion, because in Dissidia he holds most of the team together.

 

Outside of Dissidia, Terra can be very submissive in her story. Firion on the other hand has a tragic tale that he overcomes with his friends. I guess I'll give it to him.

Terra, for the almighty power of the uterus.

 

But srsly, I'd have to give it to Firion for seeing as how he had to deal with about 96% of the characters in FFII dropping dead every 5 minutes. Plus, I haven't actually played FFVI yet, but still. >>

Firion. He's really cool.

Terra ! She's so brave and even though she doesn't understand most things she becomes out a fighter.

I'm very partial to Terra, since Final Fantasy VI is my favorite game of all time!

Wow! Close round! But in the LAST TWO HOURS Terra must have gone Esper Form on the voters and pulled ahead to win 8:7!

I'm a big Yuna fan. I love how she incorporates summons into her playstyle. She's the only secondary character (or debated to be the main character) who goes on to perform as a strong character in the sequel that focus on her. Sure, Serah was fun, but she was a bit of an idiot. Yuna has drive and has a beautiful story. She is very driven, but knows when to have fun, like here:

I believe you have this backwards. In FFVI, Terra is stoic, reserved, a bit uncertain, but still able to be in control of herself, her only real moments of breaking down coming after Kefka destroys the world. In Dissidia, her spinal column is completely removed and she is unable to do anything on her own, constantly relying on others for guidance and having her personality replaced with that of a timid but polite school girl.
