Ever Been Put In The Hot Spot Cuz Of KH?

Posted

Let me elaborate in case you don't understand my colorful language....

Have you ever been embarrassed by the fact that you're part of the KH fanbase?

I mean, we all have undying love for the series, obviously...(sigh) but at times, especially when you bring it up around friends and family...its kinda...well....awkward.

Now, don't lie to meh, I know you've had at least one moment where you've been in that situation. All hardcore fans of...well, anything, have at some moment. I certainly have, and trust me, it's not fun....not that I let it get to me, of course, I still stand by the series and all...but still, for the small amount of time that it does happen...you look a little bit red in face, and if you're me...you feel like puking.

I doubt anyone can understand what I'm saying right now, considering that I'm rambling, but if you can, then leave some feedback.

I've gotten the... "You like a Disney game?" "KH is for children, why do you play it?" kinds of reactions before. But, oh well, I like what I like and that should be all that matters.

The people who I tell that I like Kingdom hearts are the ones who like it too.

I've told people that it is an Rpg and they follow. But as soon as I mention Disney they think it is wierd.

yea but then i prove them wrong

Nice to see yourself surround yourself with positive people.

No and if i ever did have that happen i wouldnt give a firetruck what anyone thought about me loving KH .Their opinion doesnt matter if I enjoy it .

Oh, you're a lucky one....

I don't really care. I don't give a firetruck what people think of me liking Kingdom Hearts, even if they laugh at me, it's not like they can do anything about it nor would I hide what makes me happy.

I guess I must be the 1% of people who aren't self-conscious about what games they play. :l

But srsly, I've never felt "awkward" talking about games that are stereotyped for younger audiences (e.g. Kingdom Hearts, Pokemon, Kirby, any other major Nintendo franchise besides LoZ or Metroid). If people want to judge me, sure, go ahead; I'll judge them right back for missing out on an amazing series of video games just because they're so gullible to believe in stereotypes.

Sophomore year of high school. Friends in a different class had to do an improv group speech. They talked about me and how I play a "weird game where you swing around a giant key." My teacher played it, and he brought it up that same day to me. Embarrassing on multiple levels.

My boyfriend judges me for it. He's my boyfriend, he shouldn't judge me like that at all. But he got me a Keyblade from ebay, and bought Re:CODED for me. :3 He couldn't even get past Destiny Islands when he tried playing KHI. That sucker.

Ha-ha.....casuals....

That's never happened to me. owo The most akward its ever gotten for me was this one time during lunch *whenIwasstillinhighschool*, a friend of mine was asking me why I liked it. Since she thought it was a stupid kid game with the whole Disney thing, but was still curious. The series was only up to 358/2 Days at the time...but it was still hard for me to really summerize the series to her in a short and easy to follow way. I summed up KH 1 and gave up after that and told her to wiki it. xDD

Hmmm I feel like it's happened to me once or twice. Once I mentioned it in class (psh class, it was only 9 people including me xD ) and the one kid was like hey you like KH and FF games? Of course I was like zomg yes! Then he goes I don't......very awkward derp. I mentioned it to my teacher as well one day and he just kinda looked at me like I had 5 heads. But after that I was like derp....I don't really care if you like it or not, I'm going to say it anyway. Heck I'll even scream it. Know what, I'll throw open my locker (it's full of KH pictures)!!!

My brother also mocks me for it.....yet he can't get past Roxas's 7 days xD

I honestly dont care about what people say, im proud to be apart of the kingdom hearts fanbase, and im not embarrased that its a disney game or whatever >.> most people who say that anyways only play cod and fps all the time. so whatever, and my older 20 year old cousin loves kingdom hearts. but yeah, ive never had that feeling of embarassment.

Not really but I don't bring it up that often

When I do people don't say shit and they do like it 8D

I'm very spartan about what fandoms I reveal I'm a part of IRL, especially Kingdom Hearts. I follow a rule where I don't say a single word about the video games I play unless they reveal they like it first. If on the improbable chance they're not a fan and I tell them specifics, like KH, I make sure I never ever bring it up in conversation, ever. I don't even go to this site when I'm working on my laptop in public if there's a chance people can look over my shoulder and see what I'm looking at. My inner fangirl is under heavy lock and key when I'm in public, but she's allowed out on her leash when I'm online and/or with people who share my interests. Unfortunately, the leash snaps from time to time, and that without fail leads to humiliation on my part.

So to answer your question, no, I've never been embarrassed for liking KH, because I pretend the franchise doesn't exist.

My ringtone is the XIIIth Struggle. :P

But also when I got my PSP I got a lot of garbage about KH. I gave it right back to them and they shut up.

Whoops forgot to mention this awesome thing. Last year in English we had a vocab quiz and one of the words on there had something to do with darkness or something so I wrote about Sora fighting the darkness with his Keyblade. My teacher handed it back to me and next to the Sora sentence he put a smiley face like this :D........I freaked out (he's around his mid-20s) because he knew what KH was xD

most of the times people just find out because i were the apparel alot of gamer girls scream i like your shirt!!!!!!! and stuff and thts how i get dates so thts something u can use

Nope. Never felt embarrassed at all. For the past 10 years talking and introducing KH to my friends in school back in the day never felt like an embarrassing thing to do. Most of my friends knew I joined a KH forum before KH13 (RIP KH-2/KHN 2004-2011 T.T) and they don't give two shits about it and respect for what I like. Same goes for my friends who liked Soccer and Anime till this day.

I was even playing Days during the 1st year in college and I met some new friends based on playing KH alone.

In the end, we have our own way of showing how we like KH in general.

Actually, that kind of situation never happened to me before.

Well, I'm glad to see so much of you have positive comments to post. I just figured that being who we are, we would have some sort of conflict coming onto us at times where we feel a little embarrassed about ourselves....but, really, the end result would be what most have already responded: getting over it and sticking to your fandom. Again, I'm not saying this because I feel that we have a right to be embarrassed....it's just that....well, for me, I find it hard to really express what I believe in sometimes...I feel that the people around me and the place I'm in are just too different to understand....not that I give up on those beliefs....and not like I don't find people who find the same interest either....it's hard to explain....well, actually it's not. Here's what I'm tripping on: how do you simply explain why you like Kingdom Hearts to certain people? It can be your parents, your friends, people you know around town....even the cat on your driveway who never goes away ....it just seems really hard for someone like me to do it. Just Saiyan .

I really don't care.... People have different opnions, I don't mind if someone disagrees me and I haven no reason to agree with anyone if I don't.

I was like "OH COME ON YOU LIKE YOUR SHIT AND I LIKE KH"
