Now that we just have one game to go in the Xehanort Saga, I'd like to take a minute to recount all the times that the number 13 comes up. A lot of them are obvious, but sometimes not so much. In fact, the sheer amount of times it comes up is pretty staggering. And with Mr. Nomura, I can't help but think it's not an accident; especially considering how abundant the Recusant's Sigil has been throughout the series, even though it was only recently revealed.

 

Here's a list of all the ones I'm aware of. Most of them are courtesy of The Keyhole.

• Organization XIII (obviously)
• Thirteen letters in "Kingdom Hearts."
• Thirteen letters total in:
• "Sora + Riku + Kairi"
• "Aqua + Terra + Ventus" _{Thanks Sanmuri, I should check my sources better ^^}
• "Axel + Roxas + Xion"
• "Terra + Xehanort"
• "Ventus and Vanitas" (*This one's a little "iffy")
• "End of the World"
• "Hollow Bastion"
• "Radiant Garden"
• "Light + Darkness"
• In Kingdom Hearts, the last world seen is the 13th
• This is also true of Kingdom Hearts II and Birth by Sleep
• In Kingdom Hearts Re:coded, there are 13 System Sectors
• In the opening movie of Kingdom Hearts the letter "M" in the word "Kingdom" surges towards the screen distinctly, with "M" being the 13th letter in the alphabet.
• There are 13 floors and 13 basements to Castle Oblivion
• If Kingdom Hearts 3 elapses another year, the entire saga from Birth By Sleep to Kingdom Hearts 3 will have been 13 years.

That's all I have right now. The wiki page I linked has more instances, but a lot of them I found to be irrelevant.

That could be the case but I don't think that every X in the game is a recusant sigil. Sora's sigil is just a silver mark on his clothes, Riku's is actually strapps that have a function in his outfit. I just don't think it's the same thing.

That is AWESOME!!! It makes me wonder just how much of this stuff he had planned out when he was making KH1, and which things just happened to work out really good as he went along.

 

On a somewhat irrelevant side note, I was born on Friday the thirteenth and I love Kingdom Hearts. It was just meant to be. >:}

4 + 5 + 6 = 15, not 13.

Besides that, the source material is in Japanese. Most of the name-letter-number ratios would need to hold up in Japanese as well for those to even be slightly significant.

Well, if Nomura keeps true to the release a year and the PC game comes out a year after 1.5 HD and then 2.5 HD(if it's made) comes out a year after that and then 3 comes out it will have been 13 years since KH 1 has come out before KH 3 comes out. But these are all really big "IF's."

This is the reason that that number no longer freaks me out. I used avoid anything to with that number, but thanks to Kingdom Hearts (and Roxas) it's no longer a problem.

They were going to make a BBSV2, they scraped it and started on DDD instead

I think re-releasing the previous games on one console is just being used to get new fans and old fans back into the series before they release KH3 (a number of my friends went off the series when they started releasing so many side/bridge/filler games and the same could be said for a number of other fans elsewhere), by doing so they'll generate interest and thus more sales when the time comes, but if they didn't remaster it it would be the 13th (as FM+ was a bundle), however now it'd be the 15 /: Would have been neat if it was the 13. It's like a 13 fetish

Yeah but all the other Re: Games are also just ported to more accessible platforms, so 1.5 is basically Re: Kingdom Hearts and such. But yeah it wouldve been neat
